  • look at that old tv

  • Gosh this brings back memories. I wasn't around when the Atari 2600 came out. But i was when the NES did I was 4 years old and my aunts got it not me so I had to play it at my Grandparents after school. But I do remember the first console I bought myself was the Nintendo64. The golden years of Nintendo. At that time my Grandfather bought the PS1 for his house and we played so many 2 player games. We still have all of those consoles and play them at various times of the year.

    These are so cute !!!!!!!!!!!

  • My Atari 2600 no longer works :(

    So sad...

  • I seriously thought you were maybe in your late 20's? This looks like my childhood circa 1972 or thereabouts. You were about 5 in this vid? Hmmm. I must have my math messed up. I guess I better start working days again!

  • Wait a minute! Dude, that looks like my childhood! Is this some trick cuz you are way younger than me! I'm 44! This looks like early 70's and you got to be about what? 30 tops?

  • @chromelung66 He's around 36.

  • now i understand the source of Chris' geekdome. Awesome. I started out the same way.

  • Dude,,, these all r the golden memories of everyone's Life... everyone Loves tht.. :)

  • Comment removed

  • This makes me feel old, because I was 24 when I first bought an Atari 2600! lol

  • Cool, Wow look at that OLD TV, you know, there where big bucks back then

  • dude was that an atari st? the one that came with pong built in?

  • @MrJoshua85 what are you talking about? this is brilliant! don't you find it fasinating to watch old family film??? PLEASE CHRIS don't listen to this personage and post more interesting stuff like this!

  • This channel is supposed to be "typically talking tech 24/7" and instead of that he's getting other people to do "screencasts" for him and posting "old family films" when I can see that myself with videos of my own. Chris' fame on YouTube has gotten to his head and just made him lazy and not care anymore. Thats just my opinion and I'm sure other people agree as well.

  • Fair enough. Looking at the other comment though I believe this video still has pertinence towards you're argument as firstly; it's a demostration of a VHS to digital transfer system. Secondly; it's looking at two things that have influenced Chris, that being Lego and video games.

Lastly; it's archiving the past in a digital medium for all time... if say in 100 years time, Chris's family want to look at what he was like, what would they rather watch, him talking about USB or playing with Lego?

  • I would have to agree

  • YEA! go Kansas City Chiefs!

  • speed it up a little and play "i get by with a little help from my friends" and it's the wonder years.

  • I wish I had home videos of myself when I was that age, because I can't remeber being that young and I'm younger than you.

  • I just love old home movies and the Kansas City Chiefs are my favorite team, you can ask my family I'm not just saying that because your wearing the pajamas.

  • Yeah, somewhere in the 70's, 80's, there was some kind of a Christmas secret. You just waited, and waited for the presents to come. You've waited, in your bed, for Santa Claus to come from the chimney. But all that wait got you tired and you fell asleep. In the morning to your surprise theres presents under the Christmas tree. You are exited and full of happiness. Not like today where every secret is getting old. The the 'old days there was some kind of a sparkle. But now - theres nothing.

  • why all of a sudden these old vids of you as a kid?

  • I guess you haven't been up to date with his videos, haven't you? ;)

  • He made a video talking about some company that makes your old VHS etc. into digital format and he said that he would post some of his old videos on YT

  • Wow, you recorded it on film?

  • i didnt know you had siblings?

  • @SgtSniper5 me niether

  • WOW! This is AMAZING! o.o

  • Chris, more vids cool... I am getting 70 flashbacks... good time to be a kid peace , Bob

  • Cool!!

I got Pong/Breakout when I was around 10,wish I had it now lol!

  • soooo cute

  • yes its time to pwn noobs. evil laugh ha ha ha

  • So adorable! I just love old videos

  • mine was the good ol' NES

  • my first one was n64

  • Mine was the Playstation 1.

  • thay was 2nd one i had, i like n64, play it more

  • no sound?

  • LOL, you really should read the video description before you comment. Yes, welcome to the 1970s. The time before home video cameras, cell phones, and personal computers.

  • ohh this is old wow

  • thats what you call the spirit of christmas. pure joy lol

  • I still have my original 2600 with about every game they made including some rare ones like Kangaroo, and Atari Circus where the clowns would jump up and pop balloons. In the first release of Circus when the clown would die it would make a splat sound and you could see the clown kick his feet a few times before he would die. The newer releases would just jump to a new screen to start again.

  • Those stockings were packed like sausages lol.

  • WOW you're well to back then. We did not get our first tv until i was 6 and it was garbage picked. I did not get my first video game console until I was 12 and again it was used. It wasn't until I entered the work force at age 16 I was able to buy my first NEW tv, vcr, and PSX(now called PS1).

  • I'm surprised Pixorial couldn't clean up the dirt specks on this film prior to converting it.

  • aww Chris was so cute! and he looks just like he does now! lol

  • Those were the days, such good parents.

  • you know your at a retro house when the tv has woodgrain and antennas lol

then i picked one up in 1997 at a flea market and still have that one somewhere.

  • Ha ha, looks like a nice family. No wonder you turned out so nice. :P

  • Pretty impressive quality for a camera that's over 30 years old.

  • Is that an 1080i or 720p TV behind you?

  • atari

  • is there any sound because i dont hear any?

  • YYEAAAHH!!! Kansas City is FTW

  • the only thing missing from these videos is 'the wonder years' theme song.

  • @rockbass

"what would you do if i sang outta tune?"

  • miss that house chris im 13 but i want to always see living back then fills my heart with joy

  • Nice vid...where are your brothers?....nvm,nice family, now you see how much the tech has evolved...in what..20-30 years...imagine now in 100 years...what,we teleport¿Will Mac or Microsoft exist? Will Linux take over the market?

  • ⓔⓟⓘⓒ ⓛⓔⓣⓣⓔⓡⓢ

  • The Atari 2600 is still kick ass i find that older consoles are better than now a days consoles

  • @Nirvana1852 I subject that reality. Old consoles lay in the dust when you compare any aspect.

  • @seva404 I dunno, if you look at lists of greatest games of all time, lots of them are snes or n64. and some of the games are ridiculously fun. like mario or donkey kong. sure they arnt as complex but sometimes its good to sit down and play platformers

  • there's a lot of good gaming consoles but i find the older ones the best

  • it dose not matter its all good

  • yep but it depends what game it is

  • that is old-school epic!!!

  • looks like somebody had a rich family lol

  • Oh Atari lol

  • wooooooooww thats really impresionant you are like your mom you dont the saim from now

  • Man I can really see that is Chris....XD

  • lol I didn't know which kid you were, Chris. lol

  • lmao same!

  • dude this is cool watching this from back in your day chris

  • "Video Computer System", haha... i wish i was as old as you so i could experience stuff like that (im 22)

  • atari ftw

  • I still have my Atari. Its sitting on my entertainment center right next to my HTPC :P

  • lol damn dude....thats old old old but yes yes omfg I my parents rock yes.

  • oh wow, what a great nostalgic scene. I can definitely relate to it. I still build with Lego and I think I had the same Lego set growing up. I luv the old packaging designs too! (Im a graphic designer). The Atari was called "Video Computer System?" I forgot that. hehe

  • ur family has had technology for a while

  • was this taken on an old 8 mm film?

  • nice parents

  • my first was a sega genesis but i almost never played it cuz it broke down and i was like 4 years old

  • This vid is really cool. Thanks for sharing it with us Chris.

  • ITS AN ATARI 2600!!! my first was a Nintendo 64

  • mine was a 64 too.wanted it for christmas and ''santa''gave it for me and my brothers but primarly for me.and my brothers though.mario rocked so much!

  • I didn't know you had siblings.

  • me neither

  • rofl at the kid in yellow at 1:10 hes like "ohh my balls!!!"

  • I like the yellow spacesuit.

  • ha cool

  • Aww man! This is cute! You most be rich!

  • no hes not, your poor

  • I remember when i got a ps1 for christmas. Me and my brother were so happy

  • Thanks for sharing this with us Chris. Lol my parents would have never got me any legos, they were scared that I would choke on them or something, which is probably a good thing they didn't, cause I used to chew on toys a lot when I was a little kid. xD

  • OMG at 3:03 hahaha

  • Its just funny to watch this and notice how inappropriate video game marketing was back then. Wow, I got a "VIDEO COMPUTER SYSTEM" for Christmas! They tried to make games sound as un-fun and high tech as possible! Later on Atari got some much better marketing.

  • but i thought that video games were for geeks back then. the marketing team tried to attract this tech savvy community, right?

nowadays we like to keep it simple so we have 3 letter/number words to label our gaming systems (ps3, wii, 360)...

    different generations, my friend.

  • Well back in ye olden days they were promoting the consoles to parents--and were kind of paranoid about the "toy" image. Every console back then had pictures of the whole family in front of the TV playing...as if that EVER happened! :)

They didn't catch on to the fact that the kids influence the parents purchasing decision until a little later.

  • This video's quality is better than 90% of YouTube videos nowadays... hmm.

  • lol true dat

  • I used to own that same tv cart the tv was sitting on in the video. LOL

  • awesome the VCS =)

  • sweet. =] <3

  • I didn't know you had two brothers.

  • Epic! Thank you for sharing this.

  • Atari 2600 started it all.

  • how old is this vid :)
