@MrPalfreymeister I do not know your experience with this sort of thing. An SM58, which is the industry standard vocal microphone, is the exact same microphone as the SM57. If you unscrew the grill at the end of the 58, it will look almost the same as the 57.

@MrPalfreymeister personal preference, most likely. They all have various kinds of microphones. He now uses a Shure SM7B. All microphones have different pick up patterns and frequency response patterns. It is just about which microphone makes you sound the best.

@COFORT7 They are NOT exactly the same at all. If you look at frequency response charts the 58 has more at about 2k, giving it a bit more presence. Just because they look the same it doesn't mean they are the same.

I really like this group. I have noticed that in many of their live performances they don't exhibit the great energy that other bands put across. Their energy is quieter and more contained. I find it comes across in listening but not always in watching them. This is one of the more expressive concerts however.
