  • best band in the world period

  • Good song man.. Love BTBAM.. Alaska got me hooked.. i still respect that they make better music now, but i still love the heavy tone of Alaska.. Gonna go pick up this album of ebay.

  • desert of boner!

  • I saw a video of a live performance of a much earlier song of theirs. I am someone who ordinarily doesn't like metal, but the variation even within that song was enough to impress me. The difference between that song and this one is very surprising... Kudos to this band for evolving the way they did

  • MY SON TURNED ME ON TO THIS BAND A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO ,THEY'RE F'KN AWESOME!!!!!

  • @drugammer i showed this band to my dad also, and he loved it xD he listen to the full colors album and loved it :')

  • i love this song soo so so sosososo and more so bad lol

  • BTBAM a band that can play everything!Hands down!!!

  • I still have the memory of when I first listened to this album. It was snowing hella and I was out shoveling the drive, but I was just completely peaceful and serene as I heard this song.

  • Blake Richardson should have been Dream Theater's new drummer. No offense, to Mangini, but I think DT would be more interesting with Richardson behind the kit.

  • @irwin3036able

I would cry myself to sleep every night if Blake left BtBAM

  • @irwin3036able Too bad BTBAM is better.

  • Beautiful.

  • Greatest Progressive act alive today. They have effectively and aggressively stolen the crown from Dream Theater.

  • This song kinda reminds me of Corrosion of Conformity

  • @IamAG3nius

You lucky bastard, you're going to have an absolute blast. I saw them early last year and they are by far one of the best live bands I've ever seen. They sound absolutely perfect throughout their entire set. They opened with Obfuscation. It was epic.

  • the vocals on this has a pink floyd\beatles vibe to it

  • everything was all gravy until you threw a fucking ad in the end. thats some cheap ass bullshit. dont try and use BTBAM for your own personal profit.

  • This band places themselves into a genre of their own. FTW.

  • Here....We're all baked in the desert of bongs.......

  • I don't think a comparison of Opeth and BTBAM can be made. Both brilliant bands, but in my opinion BTBAM is "in your face" progessive as nothing ever sounds the same!

  • This should be the theme song behing a move about "The Gunslinger" by Stephen King

  • 7 people got lost in the desert of song.

  • My head will not rest on this pillow...oops wrong song lol

  • Going to see these fucks on monday!

  • I love the Alice in chains feel of this song

  • I played this album in the car for a friend of mine, and it confused the fuck out of him. He thought it was a different band... there has never been another group with the same ability to fuse vastly different styles together consecutively within the same album.

  • That's why it's called the Great Misdirect.

  • watch?v=-iUepYYwlGo

check out the NEW BTBAM song everyone!

  • Wha..Whe....wh......who......where the HELL is the SCREAMING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I found the song More of Myself to Kill and was like "im gonna look up some more stuff," but I found this. Where's the heavy shit?

  • @Ebenezershnezer81 sigh... if that's really what you want, look up Prequel to the Sequel or Mordecai.

  • @Ebenezershnezer81 Is screaming really what makes a song? This song is beautiful.

  • @Zeleii This is a good song, but about a week ago one of my friends told me about BTBAM and said they were hardcore and awesome, but when I looked them up all I could find was soft stuff. This was the third song I found on my own and all three were mostly soft. It is good, but it just surprised me a bit. There older stuff is the metal, and they got some new stuff too, but they've transitioned into a soft rock, kinda jazz sounding band. It just took me a bit by surprise.

  • @Ebenezershnezer81 Umm hardly, check out the new EP, Obfuscation, Swim to the Moon, White Walls, Decade of Statues... All shit off the last albums.

  • @Zeleii I know, I saw. I just happened to listen to all their soft songs first, by chance. I did get to the other ones that you listed afterward.

  • @Ebenezershnezer81 Wow....

  • This song is incredible, it really is.

  • well worked. Shows you that these guys could be successful playing other more mainstream genres. god forbid.

  • Love this shit and I'm that guy that is all like " I FUCKING LOVE HEAVY BREAKDOWNS!! " haha

  • Comment removed

  • BIG vote down to below statement.

  • this is actually a great first song to hear from this band, love it!

  • @DarkAngelEU unfortunately this song tells nothing about the band x)

  • man i feel like a BOSS when i listen to this shit

  • I love paul's voice. such nice bass to it.

  • i dont like the album cover, reminds me too much of reggae, yuk

  • @theoldgeezernextdoor too bad for you then

  • @theoldgeezernextdoor Thats stupid.

  • Fear: the control tower. The new sun comes by the hour.

  • tyler gibson is gay

  • BTBAM is stacked. Extremely outstanding song here, I really hope to see more like this in the future.

  • the beginning sounds alot like james hetfield to me. i think it reminds me of the garage inc. clean voice. great song

  • is it paul singing in the begining?

  • @fuckthamedia Yes.

  • Generally this band is a bit heavy on the vocals for me, thing song is just beautiful. I do like this album a fair amount as well.

  • This song is fucking gorgeous.

  • fuck subgenres and just listen

  • mmmmhmmmm

  • My girlfriend was shoving mirrors up my ass and she forced it in too hard that i started bleeding, this infected me, gave me an injury and made me mad, so i went to get checked for "Fossil Genera". Turns out it was just Gonorrhea, so I found myself infected with Disease, Injury and madness. The obfuscation of the situation made my dick tickle. Being a leper infected with gonorrhea, I was cast out to the desert of song, and left to die. So i tripped on fuckin acid and swam to the moon.

  • If ever there was a band to listen to just for sheer diversity, skill, and talent, BTBAM is the one. No arguments made, nothing to compare; these guys are absolutely the king of their trade, and what are they, in their 20s? They're gonna rule the progressive metal scene (and maybe even the metal scene in general!) for years to come, and no one can say otherwise.

  • @PiDFProductions actually this one band called....lol your right BTBAM is the best.

  • @PiDFProductions Check out Painted in Exile, they are the up and coming BTBAM and they are young as hell.

  • Comment removed

  • @lankeysob dude painted in exile are fucking chronic!

  • @whitecastleawesome I believe the guitarists of that band have left though I listened to some of their stuff and it was great. I haven't really looked into them that much though since I found out their guitarists left.

  • @PiDFProductions you obviously havnt heard of opeth then

  • @Just4440 HAHAAHAHA You must be drunk.

  • @PiDFProductions early 30s. But they still have years and years!

  • @PiDFProductions I agree completely. Although some bands may trump them in one area, no band can possess all 3 attributes as well as BTBAM

  • @PiDFProductions 31-32, but still,,,,

  • BTBAM can write across the spectrum. From extreme metal to beautiful ballads. It really drags you in and makes you want to hear more of them.

  • Too much talent = BtBaM

  • I hope they'll do their up coming EP Acoustic/clean.

They write great music pieces when they do this relaxed songs(their heavier songs are amazing as well of course)

and it will open them to wider audiences.

  • @DeceiverDreamer they should throw a remake of a song from the silent circus in for kicks

  • @idontcare009 A rerecording of Mordecai would be quite epic

  • @explosionthe19th A rerecording of their first 2 albums is so long overdue.

  • This song is amazing. I love how BTBAM not only create the hardcore songs, but also calm songs and breakdowns like this and Backward Marathon. Just pure genius..

  • @MEDAVAS Also Laser Speed.

  • i used this song for a school project (:

  • I'm kind of glad this song isn't well known. Otherwise it'd get overplayed and wouldn't be as amazing as it is.

  • ahh... pure musical genius

  • One of the best bands ever, awsome song and album. b.t.t.b.a.m rule

  • this is fucking ridiculous

  • Comment removed

  • The harmony in this song is absolutely amazing... I like BTBAM's non-hardcore metal stuff like this.

Although occasionally I need their breakdowns =) or else I will go berserk.

  • is this Tommy rogers singing?

  • @pbgeegee Its Tommy and their guitarist Paul Waggoner

  • @pbgeegee no im pretty sure its paul

  • the opening vocals is paul, as well as mixed in throughout the song. i saw them live last night. we all know how talented they are just from listening to their cds. but when u hear and SEE them perform their masterpieces, its just too good for words. flawless, masters of music

  • I was at Fossil Genera when I looked into the Mirrors, then I was hit with sudden Disease Injury and Madness, there was so much Obfuscation I decided to walk into the Desert of Song then I Swam to the Moon.

  • @iiJameeeees Why do people do this?

  • @iiJameeeees zomgwtfepic

  • @iiJameeeees that was stupid and you dont even know what obfuscation means... @_@

  • @iiJameeeees Epic winrar.

  • @iiJameeeees shut up

  • @iiJameeeees YAY FOR ACID! jk, BTBAM and Mastodon is all the audio LSD I need. Also jk, i love taking all the massively trippy/experiment/prog/amazing music i can get.

  • @iiJameeeees

Were you seeing Colors? Im guessing crazy stuff happens in Alaska. :P

  • @iiJameeeees dude, that must have been......selky

  • reminds me a lot of Alice in Chains- Dirt era

  • I decided to put this song on a few times and sing to it because it's supposed to rain over here today. (=

  • @TehKrakerzGuy

    Wait til it does

then Backwards Marathon (I love Alaska, but is that the "It's raining" song?)

  • @abermants I don't know, I haven't heard it. But I wish it did rain; it didn't. =/ Damn forecasters. When I used to like hip hop I would turn on "Stan" by Eminem every time it would pour.

  • @TehKrakerzGuy

If you haven't heard backwards marathon, go listen! now! :p

  • @Vril87 its raining

  • @abermants Yes

  • love this song

  • like i heard before its ashame that only few people in the world know about this band only few of us are honored to listen to this work of art

  • @chbaseballisbest Yes indeed... I try to turn everyone I can on to these guys. They are definitely genius'

  • @chbaseballisbest its so beautiful and perfect, i agree with you, this music is so insanely perfect. i love it.

  • @chbaseballisbest

unfortunately only a few of us are willing to listen to this work of art

  • @CeTurbon88

ya tell me about it dude. New ep is fucking kick ass man.

  • @CeTurbon88 ya only 76,279 of us

  • by far the best progressive metal band EVER! no one captures emotion like they do... except for floyd; therefore btbam is metal-floyd

  • @surdbow1 thats awesome, hilarious, but awesome!

  • @surdbow1 as is Enslaved from Norway they are floyd-black metal

  • @surdbow1

    Opeth is another quality band

  • btbam should write the soundtrack to the upcoming diablo 3

  • I don't even have to masturbate anymore. I get an orgasm when I listen to this song.

  • I personally prefer Colors, but this is still a phenomenal album. Obfuscation and Disease, Injury, Madness are absolute masterpieces. Still, I have yet to dislike anything by these guys. This is tied with Alaska for me, but Alaska, TGM, and Colors are some of my favorite albums ever.

  • a metal version of dream theater very metal well besides this song but this song is great

  • Only without the cheese. Not to say I don't love Dream Theater, but IMO these guys are better just cause there's more originality and the lyrics are loads better.

  • @Bizkut1989 dream theater is metal. wtf?

  • @littleangryfinn ehh, DT has some elements of metal, but they are by no means a fully METAL band. still amazing music; u heard the count of tuscany? best song they ever wrote, but not necessarily metal....

  • @goforthandeattacos ?? Who said Dream Theatre wasn't metal? They're just as metal as anyone who came from their time that was also metal (The Big 4). You got to remember that DT is over 25 years old now.

  • @goforthandeattacos DT is most definitely metal man. A 25 year one like BakerMassacre said! They are just different, and just because it's a different kind of metal doesn't mean that it isn't metal! just to let you know

  • I've never bought a CD before, but a week ago I bought BTBAM's entire catalogue. Fuck yeah.

  • omfg the fucking did it! they outdid colors!!! ONLY problem with this album is that it is waaayy to short. And thats the only problem.

  • bought this the day is came out

    i still cant stop listening

    i love btbam

  • lol i dont even buy cds but i bought this one just to support the ridiculous talent in this band

  • these guys and fair to midland are easy my 2 favorite bands. BTBAM is an amazing group.

  • @jadedlies wow, somebody else actually agrees with me.

  • this is very pink floydish its awesome. finally got to see BTBAM tuesday. some of the most talented muscians ever, blake richardson makes me so proud to be a musician

  • @ibanezman14 dude iv said that to so many people about this album

  • @ibanezman14 BTBAM is the Pink Floyd of Metal

  • now that i have walked through this Desert of Song it is time for me to Swim to the Moon with Between The Buried and Me

  • just saw them in Charleston sc great show they were awesome

  • I just saw them too here in Raleigh. I said to my friends that Mastodon would to put on one hell of a show to top BTBAM's set. Mastodon had an action-packed set that made the crowd go into a constant frenzy! So I say Mastodon came out on top last night. But now I would love to see BTBAM as a headline act sometime!

  • @silentvash27 I was there to bro, amazing concert. Everyone went ape shit for Mastodon and BTBAM

  • prob top 3 of my fav's of all time. some might say that but i'm not joking

  • the solo has so much emotion. its like paul's guitar is talking to me. long live BTBAM

  • I personally find The Great Misdirect to be one hell of an album. I love every minute of every song. My favorite is Disease, Injury, Madness, and this being my second-favorite. Paul Waggoner has such a soulful voice.

  • colors was better in my opinion. this is just to all over the place..

  • @DrinkSkateSleep I agree, I also think colors had heavier songs, and just all around a good mixture of singing and screaming. Alaska was good too but it was kind of like this, more relaxed acoustic/singing songs less screaming. This album is good but it just wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

  • @EntwinedbyVengeance if you want heavier songs and more screaming, go listen to jfac, not btbam

  • PAUL sings in this???

  • Hey gays, it's PAWL singin' mmmmmhmmmmmmmm

  • Its the guitarist singing at the beginning.

  • it's actually Paul.

  • Comment removed

  • someone please!!

tell me who does the guest vocals at the beginning?!

    Thanks

  • @chodaskier its their guitarist paul waggoner

  • @TheFamiliarSound alright! thank you buddy!!

  • Paul Waggoner, the guitarist.

  • i hear Pink Floyd when i listen to this.

  • sounds so fucking epic with in Dolby Surround from the limited Edition :)

  • And this song reminds me a bit of Opeth.

  • what part?

I get an Opeth feel more from the ending of fossil genera

  • yeah this totally feels like opeth

  • @punkonater

May it is just me, but I get a bit of an Alice in Chains feeling when I hear this.

  • this..is...awesome

  • I'm not huge into Third Eye Blind but Paul Waggoner sounds a lot like Stephan Jenkins in this song.

  • they do just keep getting better and better, its astonishing

  • @ready0khafka i agree, Colors was a masterpiece, but when i heard this i was baffled. The Primer is still my favorite though off of Alaska. or maybe Alaska.....or Selkies!!! they are probably the most unique and diverse band i've ever heard. like a metal Queen maybe?!?!?!?!?!

  • @sipinflames

METAL QUEEN! amen lol this band is amazing

this song + fossil are my faves of this album.

    colors still reigns supreme tho

  • This song is one of the greatest written songs by this band and of all time.

Say I'm wrong.. go ahead. BTBAM are just too damn talented, it's crazy.

  • possibly this and swim to the moon, both epic as fuck!

  • @FoxtrotXero i completely agree with you, this song makes my chest tighten and my sinuses cringe, its aboslute beauty

  • @FoxtrotXero u hit the nail right on the head buddy

  • @FoxtrotXero the whole album is one big song.... this is more like just section of it..

  • @FoxtrotXero i completely agree, i saw them in NO with cynic and devon townsend, i would have to say that their bassist is their most talented musician but they all are too amazing and it was thebest show ive ever seen

  • @dropboys1 paul waggner is their best musician

  • @Markhouseify1 Paul Waggoner writes their music. jussayin.

  • @littleangryfinn paul waggoner is their lead guitrist
