the original kicks the crap out of this version. I wonder if the 'selecta!' sample was added to capitalise on the success of 'rewind' by artful dodger... still this version did pretty well for Mr Bias, so fair play!
@KamKomissioner This version is known as Neighbourhood 2k. It came out in 2000 on Locked On Records and had a bright orange sleeve. The original also came out on Locked On but was released in 1999 and had a gray sleeve. Musically there are several differences, the main one being there was no singing on the verse on the original. It goes for a lot of money these days. Someone uploaded it to youtube a while back but looks like it has been taken down. It's the best version IMO
@rorz999 oh dude thanks alot, it only sounds somewhat different but it's still great. though honestly i think i like this version better...i'd have to take another listen.
You can catch zed bias playing during the Manchester Freshers week this year on the 20th September at Dry Live. like Twisted Manchester on fb for details.
I can see how 2-step garage like this influenced dubstep. In fact, a lot of tracks coming out of the 'dubstep' scene by artists like Synkro, Burial, Phaeleh and others could be technically classed as 2-step if people knew about it. It's interesting tracing the evolution and influence of genres on each other :) The UK is a pretty good place for electronic music, glad I'm here.
I think we can all agree that the '09 mix sucks ass, but the El-B remix (from 1999) is pretty sweet. I quite like the vibes of this original mix as well.
this is THE best version by a mile. whats the point of dubstepping it and funkying it up. sounds crap all the same. they don't make 'em like this anymore.
we used ot sing a remix of this in church...........i feel good, good, good, yes I feel wonderful good.........every time i talk about Jesus i feel good, yes wonderful good !!
i'm sorry, i'm sure those who love garage are good wholesome people, and this is one of the standard tracks along with a bit of wookie, but garage nearly killed drum n bass.......... and for that i can never forgive. bad garage, that's a very, very bad garage.
Oh dear I can't believe I even gave you guys a chance. I've just listened to 47 seconds of neighbourhood 2009 and I can assure anyone who hasn't yet listened that it's absolute toilet.
Anyone preffering that to original is 1. young and 2. has shit for brains
@londonsmoke Logistics is the shit proberbly one of the most talented producers of today. but i agree the remix is shit. cuz this is so good any attemp of a remix is brave.. to say the least
