I wonder if these "liberals" apply this to their leader baROCKET oBOMBa - the killer of 1000s and 1000s of middle east women and children. Most liberals are just celebrity worshipers and led by emotionalism. True liberals are Dennis Kucinich and Ralph Nader. Nader has actually called for the impeachment of Odrama - just search it and see for yourself. Odrama is a coward who does his killing by drones. Oh I know, hes the 1st black president so we have to be quiet...shhhhh...
As a Lib myself, I prefer to maintain that I agree with some of your statement. I didn't vote for Obama, and see him as the dark skinned puppet presented as GWB's replacement killer. He was never really put in place to end this war, or do any of the garbage promised. His owners (MoW) are the same few who used Jr. bush to send us to a war that they wanted to initiate years before it is presumed to have begun. Also, the fact that he was black assured the (s)election was as planned
@z3dsdead ...Yup. Yup. As liberal writer Michael Ventura recently wrote in the Austin Chronicle ...liberals should be ashamed of failing to shine a bright light on Obama's campaign lies regarding the Patriot act renewal, Guan Bay still open, spying on Americans, "no more wars", defunding Blackwater thugs, etc...and why are liberals silent? Shamefully, as Mr. Ventura wrote "establishment liberals are cowardly and afraid of harshly criticizing the 1st black president."
@ 2.40 it seems the sound technician might have got the sound board adjustments tweeked so that Steve's vocals & guitar sound less "harsh". None the less, this is a piece from history. We'll look back one day & feel a lot differently about the sound quality & think more on the meaning of these words. God bless you Steve!
It's not trolling you douchebag. Take some time away from the keyboard. I think this is terrible, and I love Bob Dylan, and like Steve Earle. Doesn't mean I'll love everything he spews. Stop being such a zealot. If Bob Dylan has made bad music, and he has, so can Steve Earle. The Staples Singers' version is far better.
I was responding to more than the one comment. This particular person had posted negative comments around the same time on several different videos from different artists. By the way, I don't think this is a great performance by Steve (though he has covered it well.) Perhaps YOU might stay away from the keyboard.
I love Steve but this is difficult to swallow...reading the lyrics off a sheet and still having problems with them and the rhythm. I just beleive if your going to do a song for people take the time to learn it. Eddie Vedder's Dylan tribute version is my favorite and when I clicked on this I had bigger expectations.
@rushwb Why shouldn't he read lyrics off a sheet? Why do we accept classical singers and players having their music in front of them but not folk or pop musicians? This is not a memory contest.
@dfarmbrough I don't really care if Earle reads the lyrics or not, but to be fair classical music is not a fair comparison as it's often far more complex and dense than folk or pop.
@IAmTheHound Comparing folk rock with classical is unfair in many ways, but in the very narrow area I was comparing, I think it's fair. The point is that specifically for singers, nobody bats an eyelid when classical or church music singers use music, but for pop or folk/rock, it is seen as something of a curiousity when music or words are used. For me, the memorisation is not as important as the performance.
@dfarmbrough You asked why we don't bat an eyelid when classical musicians have music in front of them but pop/folk musicians don't. It's not a fair comparison for the reason I mentioned: classical pieces are (typically, not always) longer, denser and more intricate. Thus harder to remember. No, it's not a memory contest, but that's the practical reality. Again - I don't care who has music in front of them or not; I agree that the performance is the most important thing.
@IAmTheHound I wold agree with most of that - I also think people expect a greater uniformity out of classical music, although if you consider the lengths of performances as a whole, rather than single pieces of music, they're comparable. You could compare a movement of a symphony to a song in a concert.

Someone posting music from their own band should be careful of trolling other posts with negative comments.
And exactly how many Grammys do YOU have? I am guessing that would be
you 0
Steve Earle 3 (and 14 nominations)

Good cover version, but the title should be corrected to "Masters" without an apostrophe, because it's a plural.

this is not Bob, really hard to cover him, in my humble opinion. Dylan is great to bullshit around friends with, though.
