  • Westerns also hauled standard blue-grey MkIIs as well, although they could not operate the air conditioning of the later D/E/F series of MkIIs.

  • Can anybody help me, I'm trying to find out what livery coaches the 52's would have pulled in the western region, Exeter to Plymouth. Would it have been British Railway Mark 1 coaches in early 1960s maroon livery? If so would these have been the same for the 42 warships?

  • Hi mattyorton1 Westerns & Warships would have been seen pulling mk1 maroon coaches in the 60's in the southwest and on the blue & white standard BR mk1's after that. I have one or two photo's on my web site if you want to see - search on google for railphotoanthology - its a site on weebly. Cheers

  • @mattyorton1 There were still Hawksworth GWR designed bow ended coaches used as well- I saw them the last time in 1971- painted crimson lake along with the Mark 1 stock . I do not remember seeing any painted in blue and grey although some may have been painted up in the new livery.

  • Twin maybach,classic 52 footage !

  • amazing engine. Roller bearing crank, vertical turbocharger, overhead camshafts. Technical Mastery, well executed. German engineering for ya.

Whereas, Vulcan Foundry is now a housing estate or waiting to be one. Christ, what a shitty little country Britain is.

  • @mushroomscouser If only the transmission had of been more reliable!

  • @mushroomscouser The "Real" trouble is some of these bastards see the closure

of all our Manufacturing Industry as "Progress" can you believe that shit??.We now stand a nation of Kebab Shops/Wine Bars/Mc Donalds/ and Prisons. The only growth

industries being Bankruptcy and House forclosure, you are quite right a "shitty little Country".This is a real tragedy I fear for our future I really do.

  • @mushroomscouser

In real world the EMD 567 was a superior engine in every shape and form. The 567 was the diesel prime mover that consigned the steam locomotive to the scrap heap.

  • Nice shot there, re want to go behind them, try pathfinder they are running probably 2 or 3 trips with good old D1015. One's to Buxton in March/April and they are very enjoyable trips.I'll never forget the Cornishman - my first trip behind a whizzo on the main line. What a sound........

  • Thanks for watching & info

  • I love the sound of these engines! I want to travel behind one of these locos one day! lol. Great video.
