@IREAPZZ014 Actually, I am a Red belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, and this is the second form in the Taegeuk series of Poomses. Maybe they use it for karate, but it was originally made for Tae-Kwon-Do students.
@archer10ful actually that depends on your school. One of the black belts at my dojang deliberately "hunches" in a way, to make his kicks higher and stronger because he is kinda <.< old and inflexible now. lol. He is our lead in techniques though, and has told us that this is a way to improve our form and that you need to flex your abdomen to put more power into your kick. Use your entire body. I have not heard that leaning forward in your walking stance is good though. Sensei would cut ur neck.
@KoriKitti The major difference is the syllabus. The WTF patterns are completely different from the ITF ones both in the moves and the names. I'm pretty sure the ranking system is different too.
@KoriKitti im 1st Gup (black tip). The thing i found most helpful was youtube videos actually, especially for patterns. Also, its probably a given but got to as many classes as you can and ask your instructor a shit load of questions
when they are done slowly and robot-like, they are simply for instructional purposes.
you should see blackbelts do the whole of taeguek(1st - 8th poomsae) all in one go with no stopping, each one of these poomsae's il jang, i jang, sam jang etc, are all part of one big poomsae called taeguek. there isnt much of this robotic movements when good blackbelts do it in fast motions
one thing he is stomping i'm not saying i dont stomp but stomping directs most of your power down not into your technique and you mean shoulder line there is not epigastrium level i'm a blue strip
Thanks a million! My instructor expects all the blackbelts to have all the forms memorized...and me, being obnoixously forgetful...well, I have to relearn them...One thing tho...where is all your power??????
Yes, that is very much possible. The meaning of my message was not to disrespect WTF Taekwondo, but to tell how different it looks like compared to ITF despite the same origins.
Okay, I MIGHT have expressed my feelings a little wrong. Still, I couldn't have said I prefer ITF since I've never tried WTF. I just said id doesn't look good in my eyes - which is because I've got used to ITF patterns.
wtf?

BTW, do you have any of the "Chung-Sendo" forms up? If you do, it would be AWESOME, because Master Chung is my Master's Master's Master. :D

I can't help but think that the forms in Taekwondo are really rigid and robotic. Interesting to watch though.
Is there a reason why they are preformed in this way?
I practise Kuk Sool Won and the forms we practise are very fluid but still hard hitting. I always assumed TKD was similar.
