  • This was nowhere near Atlanta.

  • looks like the slushy stuff

  • @musicfreakcc - my comment was for bradmn64 :-) I lived near Buffalo for a while and it snows there like crazy

  • @d70nerd Ah - Buffalo, being on Lake Erie, has much more snow than Rochester, but for a shorter period. Due to Erie being quite shallow, it freezes over around February thus ending the lake effect. Because Lake Ontario is rather deep in comparison, the lake effect it produces is a bit more mild, but it lasts well into march. On average both cities receive 100 inches of snow a year.

  • I lived in New York and drove in snow there for 17 years. My college there closed for snow ONCE in 25 years in 1993 due to snow & I drove that day. 20 mins after the snow began in Atlanta I started driving home. After 1 1/2 miles I had to turn back and it took almost 2 hours to drive that 1 1/2 miles!! It was the scariest drive of my 30 years driving. People up north don't understand until they experience just a little snow here. Sorry, you can't. I used to laugh, but not any longer.

  • @d70nerd Hahaha - I now live in Rochester, NY.

  • Ohh stop complaining and grow a pair.....Its 2 inches of snow!!

  • Snowing again now in ATL (Jan 9 2011)! Go falcons!

  • it snowed about 1 foot in 1993

  • wow it might snow in Atlanta on Christmas day

  • It is gonna snow today lol (and I live in Atlanta, GA)

  • Do people use studded highly-siped winter tires around these parts of the country or anywhere else on the continent ?

  • @JonasE1969 Winter tires are never used in Georgia, although I know tons of people up in Rochester who put them on during the winter.

  • @musicfreakcc Rochester is in MN right? In Sweden and Finland wintertires are compulsary from dec 1 to march 1, no wintertires means heavy fine. Exceptions for cars with forregin plates and cars older than model year 1975. Also if you claim to exit the country you don't need wintertires during that period.

  • Howz come every time it snows in Atlanta. People say "it never snows in Atlanta". But it seems like it snows every damn year in Atlanta. So im not sure why people continue to act so surprised. And it will probably snow this year too. And people in Atlanta will probably be surprised.

  • I live in Greensboro GA.

  • It snows a lot in north Georgia.

  • its supposed to be cold and snow. ITS WINTER

  • Well, snow is very rare in Atlanta.

  • @musicfreakcc It snows all the time in atlanta its not rare at all, but cool video by the way

  • @musicfreakcc One of these days will snow in Miami and LA

  • @musicfreakcc

Snow is rare in parts of Canada, too! White Rock (near Vancouver) registered Canada's warmest winter for the (2009 - 2010) winter season. Its winter was warmer than Dallas this winter season (avg. temperature). Considering this region of Canada also has the lightest average wind speeds on the continent and it had a much milder winter than Dallas this last winter season! It was also MUCH warmer than Atlanta!

  • @vancouvermild Strange, isin't it? Atlanta apparently got more snow than Toronto last year. Rochester (where I currently reside) also had a relatively mild winter.

  • @musicfreakcc

I'm a weather buff; therefore, I know Toronto didn't get a whole lot of snow this year (I wasn't sure that it was less than Atlanta?). The difference between (Vancouver & vicinity) versus Toonto is that Vancouver can clearly be classified a snow-free city (basically) - as can Atlanta. Plus (+), both Atlanta and Vancouver have much milder winters than Toronto. Even this winter in Atlanta was MUCH warmer than Toronto overall!

  • @musicfreakcc

I didn't have enough room to finish my first post. Any way, to be sure, the outdoor events for the olympics in Vancouver took place in the cold, high-level mountains surrounding the city. Los Angeles is surrounded by a wole bunch of ski resorts. It could also, technically, be a host city for the winter olympics. I'm guessing you understand these things; but it gets frustrating trying to make other people understand that!

  • @vancouvermild True - altitude makes all the difference. Atlanta is about 330m above sea level.

  • Stop Global Freezing !

  • Snow in Georgia is rare. And when it sticks, the state basically shuts down. There are almost no snow plows at all. All we have are trucks that spread salt on the roads. And for schools, they shut down the instant they see snow. That snow fall that day shut down a good 40-60 school systems. And it wasn't even a inch of snow on the ground.

  • Georgia is actualy very smart. They shut down the schools cause of the ICE on the ground. We got into a car accident

  • @tennisfreak2495

seriously? in Toronto it starts snowing around the end of december up until march.

  • I agree with Tennisfreak2495 Chicago has really cold winters and lots of snow. Trust me I live there

  • it really does, especially if u live around the north side of the city. It snowed for the first time today where i live in southern chicago

  • I know it can snow and get bitterly cold in Atlanta every so often, but it is still very wierd to think it can happen at such southern latitudes. You wouldn't want to know how cold Atlanta got in Jan. 1985, record breaking insane low temps.

  • a couple weeks before it was around 10ºF

  • It pretty much snows every year in the greater Atlanta area

  • Yes, but there is only a sizable amount only once every 5 years.

  • i was surprised it snowed where i lived too cuz i live in middle georgia, in warner robins.

  • Why is everyone whinging on about global warming. There has been heavy snowfalls like this recently

  • Well, this prove global warming is a myth! XD

  • well lets see. this storm has pretty muched dumped snow all over the eastern coast. I am in North East, Maryland and we have around 8 inches and its supposed to snow until 2 pm today. this is the most snow we have seen this year. quite a way to end the winter.

  • the northerners would make fun of me ,,, but im in ATL and when it started comming down i went crazy / ive never seen a snow like this.

  • Us southerners laugh at you when you're snowed in.

  • I thought they almost never get snow in Atlanta, but I thought the southern most state with snow is South Carolina.

  • Wish you cold have seen the blizzard we had in '93, it was awesome! IAPP

  • what happened to Global Warming xD???

  • Nice. That is quite a bit you're getting. We got some light snow this morning but are expected to get heavy stuff around midnight.

  • what camera did u say u were gonna get

    SNOW

  • omg ya! its frickin snowing in GA!!!!! im in hall county!!!!!! I thot it wont ever snow this year!!!!
