@schmitty3 - well that's the great thing about being open with music, it's great that there is so much out there that we can all just simply love it because we love it. There's plenty I love that others disagree on. But the album version of this song is clean and the "Whooo" that comes in is wonderful, but it needs to be on point, on key and controlled. I love the album version better because of that. Maybe they just need to get a good sound mixer to come along with them on tour.

Next, much dismay seems to come from as oddio puts it that "live it sounds horrible". What you seem to be trying to convey is rather that live it sounds different. However the point of live performance is to more wholly witness the true collaboration that takes place between musicians when playing their music. What makes concerts interesting is variation and the artists ability to be dynamic. If you lack appreciation for this you may as well skip the performance and listen to the album instead.

This song isent even their best by a long shot. Listen to Spirit They’re Gone, Spirit They’ve Vanished,Danse Manatee, Hollinndagain, and sung tongs. That was when it was really really good music.
To address the general negativity that appears to be associated with Animal Collective live, I would like to first say that any live performance cannot be accurately depicted through standard audio systems .
I thought it was horrible at first too... but his voice is juuuust subdued enough to make it tolerable. It's like an exaggerated reverberation of panda. But overall I agree, the way they're doing their songs live is missing something... I'm kinda not so sure about the 50 dollars I had to spend to get a ticket to see them off of e-bay.....
there was a seperate team for filming but all the animation and after effects work is being done by two guys, Chad Nau and Jon Vermilyea you can look them up. We went to school together. Jon is illustrating the record cover for their new record... yeah its gonna be on vinyl.
the album got leaked and let me tell you...the best thing i have heard in a while. no joke. better than a lot of what was out there in 2008. havent been able to stop listening.
BEST live version of this song in my opinion. Loud ambiance.

I saw these guys last week in Sydney.
Brilliant live ,,, I love the album, but their live show is pure quality.
The atmosphere was tops despite the best efforts of the w***ker arts students who got their hands on about 75% of the tickets.
Can someone please tell those students that post-modernism is long dead ... please find a new boat.
