He's got the deepest speaking voice I've ever heard. It's funny because he's got a pretty lengthy range when he sings high notes, I didn't think he actually had a deep voice.

We went through the Screaming Life book & he signed a few pages and cds for us (my Whisky For The Holy Ghost bears the legend - Nick, good talking with you! And I hadn't said a word!). He was real sweet, I offered him a joint and he said "Er, you got just a cigarette?" gave him one and he tore the filter off and smoked it! A real friendly guy... I feel privileged to have met him and chatted... *sigh* =O)

It's so pleasant to see him so relaxed, as somebody else has already pointed out. I think most people think of him as this dark, shadowy man with a perpetual fixation on death and pain. He's sure seen some pretty bad times, heroin abuse, alcohol, band tension, divorce, and a lot of different shit. But I'm sure he's a really funny and thoughtful guy who also has a big heart.

Yeah he was a serious heroin addict, I think he used to do metamphetamines too, but he's clean now, as far as I know. He used to drink a lot too. But he's a very private man so he doesn't really throw details about his life around.
