This is what I consider a crowd-pleasing hack fest. Yes..the guy has some skills & could probably play some great music without all of the hype & musically ignorant audience members egging him on for more light-speed slapping. Lo que si es un hecho es que independientemente de que tan bien toquen o no, siempre se ven bien pinche en este tipo de videos, por ejemplo ves a un Billy sheehan o a algun bajista famoso y tienen ese aire de rockstar, ves a un tipo como el de este video y se ven bien mariachi, es mas, les tomas una foto y nisiquiera tienen pose ni actitud, le quitan por completo el sex appeal que tiene usar un instrumento de cuerda ;) si no me creen, busquen fotos de musicos famosos y veeran lo k digo.

from bass player to bass player. Alex moran is an awesome bass player. but due to busy schedule he hasnt improve as he should. I saw him live in the bronx like 6 years ago with el trio de hoy, and incredibly the trio is still singing the same songs after 6 years.

when the band doesnt improve, the bass player keeps playing the same over and over in each concert. The solos are the same with some variations, he is trying hard to improvise.

I agree that this particular solo could be better organized, but I have Alex's solo cd and it is very good, and Ive seen him in other solos, much better than this one. However, Alex is very talented, slap and tapping is what de does most, but he can groove too. Thats his thing u know? As other bass players prefer to improvise jazz, others groove, and so on. Each with his own style

Say what you want about him but the guy is a genuine guy. I had the priviledge of letting him use my old bass amp for him to play a set on. Now there are some bass players whos heads get swollen and won't play on anything less than their 2 or 3 thousand dollar setup but he took my amp ans said this is fine. He played an amazing set and I couldn't believe my amp could ever sound so sweet. He is a very humble person which is rare in a lot of bass players today.

use Wooten as an influence, dont try to be exactly like him....its borderline plagiarism what youre playing here, however, your technique is amazing and your rhythm is perfect. just find your own groove dont try to adopt someone else's, you'll just disappoint yourself and your fans in the end...and dont forget, always practice you'll be doing this for the rest of your life...
