Assuming you're American, here in Canada, our comedians have NEVER shied away from ridiculing our politicians--and often they play along!

I've never seen that done in American comedy, with the exception of SNL...but that was always superficial.

Most of his humour is very politically based, so while it is still funny even if you don't really know the backgroud behind what he is saying, you can still find it funny. It's the extra little bit of political commentary that has elevated him the peak of satire (mostly because he's always right).
