  • I wish they would've kept the Kremlings :;(

  • What's this genre of music?

The first 40 seconds or so sounds really good.

  • @superearthbender I'd say jazz

  • The remixes in this game were great and this my favorite one of the, love the feel of it. Overall great game.

  • for some reason whenever i hear donkey kong country music i start thinking about sly cooper....

  • I remember in a silhouette stage like this, you go down a hill and the camera zooms out...I LOVE RETRO STUDIOS.

  • Awesome game! Played it to death until I got 200%.

  • I like how the monkeys in the image looks like those silly iTunes trend images that I never really understood.

  • I used to take so much time playing for these stages to hear this sweet tracck

  • SWEET!!!... Nuf said...

  • I kinda agree that Returns was more "goofy" than the first two DKCs (3 wasn't like those ones too, only in a couple levels) but let's face it,DKC's were made by freakin' Rare. It's hard to do something like Rare did,all of its games with Nintendo are really unique.

But Returns it's a great platformer nonethless,it has incredible level design.

  • Sounds like Ron Burgundy when the flute kicks in.

  • I really need to replay this game. It's awesome, as is the music :)

  • Can only hope they do DKCR 2 with DKC2 remixes. This is by far my favorite game on the wii. Considering David Wise and Rare had nothing to do with this game other than provide the inspiration for the level design and original music, I think it game out very good. I hope on the next game they make the bonus levels more of a part of the game as they did in DKC 2 and 3

  • Love this game to pieces. I knew people would be disappointed with it and reviewers would give it slightly-above-average scores because it's not an exact carbon copy of the original DKC trilogy or because it doesn't have Kremlings, but that's okay by me. I'll keep this game on a high pedestal in my mind, and others can think whatever they want.

  • I finally beat this game last month. It was maybe slightly more frustrating than I would have liked, but that's probably more a fault of mine. It was also disappointing to not get new Wise compositions, like you said. But honestly, my biggest complaint was none of those things. The thing I least liked was that they chose to make the world much more... silly, than in the original games. I missed the atmosphere those games created

  • @kurtTraver totally agree, the world was a little more light-hearted and glossy than the way we're used to seeing it. I have another complaint to add to that, and I think it's very related, and it's that the music itself made the game feel more silly too. Older DK games had a mysterious, gloomy, ominous feeling, which was half the art direction and half Wise's music. We're missing both halves here, and while I liked the gameplay in this one, I wasn't too happy with the overly upbeat score.

  • Damn, I was thinking today of playing the classic Donkey Kong Country, but then I remembered that I wanna play this game too....

  • I'm currently playing this game near end of world 7. The more you play of this game the better it becomes and the more you see of its great level design.

  • Oh yeah ! This song makes me dance with my feet.

  • Love this piece too so jazzy

  • lol, dolphin screenshot :p

  • I love this game, although I'm disappointed that none of the villains from DKC are present.

  • love that silouette image

  • this level was classy as fuck.

  • Shit, I just remembered how GOOD this game is!

  • The bass in this is absolutely awesome.

  • I just couldn't play this game with the Wiimote as much as I tried. I wanted to enjoy this game but me and the Wiimote just don't mix. I can only play games with actual controllers. Here's hoping the Wii-U resolves that problem and that I can finally be ably to play and enjoy the few good Wii games like this one. missing out on Skyward Sword because I just can't stand to play it with the Wiimote just kills me. It was the reason why I got Twilight Princess on Gamecube instead of on Wii.

  • @xOmniCloudx You are missing a masterpiece in Skyward Sword(easily my #1 game this generation), and a near one in DKCR.

  • @map586 I've actually seen a great deal of Skyward Sword and it's far from a masterpiece to me. Still great but a lot of the flaws the franchise always had are more apparent now than ever and too many games this gen have surpassed it in other areas where it feels dated. The game starts off even slower than TP is which highly annoyed me. This generation hasn't been that impressive to me as a whole though. Currently, Batman Arkham City has been wowing me everywhere. Now THAT is a masterpiece.

  • To be honest, I was a little disappointed in the soundtrack

It had those nice ones (inc. this one), but most of them wasn't as classic as the originals, not even the remix's

The game's standard made up for it ofc, great game

  • i want to the beach soo in the mood.

  • So relaxing to listen to this after a 6.4 earthquake.....

  • i personally like more the Volcano version

  • donkey kong country returns is an underrated game and is damn great!!

    Real gameplay at its finest!

  • this couldve been in Cowboy Bebop. :)

  • It's good, but the original one is 100% better

  • Donkey Kong Country Returns was pretty sweet. I hope they make another one... And this time, include the Kremlings! Or at least SOME returning enemies...

  • @pikminlover72 Nintendo has to have certain rights over the series.

Because they were able to(and still are)release the Donkey Kong Country related things, all the rareware stuff.

Though it'd save a lot of trouble if they'd just take rareware back.

A.) Not like Microsoft actually does anything with them.

B.) They got rid of them because of Conker and Rare's habit for inappropriate. But nowadays Nintendo has all ratings on their stuff, it wouldn't matter anymore.

  • @pikminlover72

Is this true? Haven't Kremlings appeared post-Rare-break in some of the Mario sports games as well as things like Barrel Blast?

  • @Jay5006 Upon further research, I have concluded that, since Nintendo created Donkey Kong originally, they own everything that has appeared in a donkey kong game. So, the kremlings are indeed owned by Nintendo.

  • @pikminlover72 Uh... Yeah, that's bull. That's the same as saying This Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Cranky Kong, and all the original Donkey Kong Country characters belong to Rare.

If Nintendo could use them in spin-offs, such as Mario Super Sluggers, they can use them in another Donkey Kong Country game.

  • @Rubberman202 No, in my clarified response, I clearly said that everything Donkey Kong is owned by NINTENDO.

  • @pikminlover72 Well exCUSE me for not seeing your "clarified response" when I made my initial response.

  • yay :D VGM1037 is my psn!!! :D xD

  • I'm gonna have to check out this game, judging by the comments, it seems like everyone here loves it :)

  • ::swing dances to the music

  • Man, this song makes me want to travel back to the 1920s, sit in a bar, and just drink shot after shot. Don't ask why.

  • @VGKing

I know what you mean. I always imagined this music to be played in a club in new york in the 50's.^^

  • This is my favorite VGM in DKCR. And I'm currently watching JoshJepson and SuperJeenius 100% it.

  • Recently beat the game, currently watching JoshJepson and SuperJeenius play through it.

  • @Sephiko SuperJeenius ftw ;D

  • @Sephiko This ain't your diary.

  • @umbrellaeinheit This ain't your Internet.

  • This is one of my favorites from the game. Just the fact that one song can be done in so many different ways and still sound good, really shows how great It is.

  • one of my favorites :)

  • :O dat Piano

  • This tune never gets old :')

  • This might have been my game of the year in 2010, I loved it. The level design was almost perfect and I loved the graphics. The soundtrack was great, though I'd have prefered it to be composed by David Wise. Yamamoto did a great job though, especially with remixes like this one.

  • @SupraDarky I woulda gone with Nier
