@MiniWolfsbane yea tonin down gambits powers annoyed me too. even with his powers at lowest form gambit was able to go toe to toe with wolverine in the comics. they could have made their fight better in the movie. gambit is one of the most powerful xmen after all.

I would love if the X-men went back to Marvel Studios so they had a shot a making their own movies. Don't get me wrong the X-men movies were entertaining back I feel the Marvel Cinematic Universe could do it so much better.

(Because according to the storyline, Gambit would be about 30+ years older than Rogue. . .>_<) The movies are good for the most part, but it's obvious that instead of sticking with the storylines from the comic books, they really just took the characters and added their own backstories to them. . .X-/

@geotref - it's call card throwing or card spinning... with the deck of cards in a horizontal position in front of you, clip the right long ends of the deck with your right index & little fingers. the middle and ring fingers are resting along the short right side of the deck. here, the thumb is free and you are going to touch the top card which is towards you using the right thumb. use the pad of your thumb to push the top card upwards in a swift motion. this would spin the card upwards.
@geotref - it may also help if you slightly motion your wrist or right hand upwards to help the card fly & spin... if you want to learn some card fluorishes like this, you can check out Jeff McBride's DVD series The Art of Card Manipulation Vol 1-3... hope i was able to help... cheers!
I love Gambit so much more when he's being a manipulative, self interested dick. No-one's properly written him like that since Fabian Nicieza got thrown off his solo series. He's just no fun as 'a thief with a heart of gold'- there's no edge. And he's so much less attractive as a character. Gambit under Nicieza was Jack Sparrow like. There hasn't been any one who could write Gambit as well as Fabian did.

As an avid Gambit fan, I have to say I was disappointed. I think Taylor was a good choice for a younger version of the character because he looks like a younger Josh Holloway but there were some things he needed to work on. The accent was a big one. He did very well with the bo-staff so I give him props for that but if he put in that much effort to learn how to use the staff, then he could have put in that much effort for the accent. @nameme101 Agreed. I was also severely annoyed that Gambit's bo-staff was snapped in two thanks to Wolverine's claws. Canonically speaking, isn't Gambit's bo-staff made of adamantium? Therefore, it wouldn't snap when Wolverine sliced it in half. I'm pretty sure it's one of the reasons why Gambit at his best can easily school Wolverine in a fight in the comics.

I think i was a little disappointed by the eyes and a tiny bit about the accent, but i think the story about him beein taken to the island by Logan's team and the fight between Logan and him, made up for it! @shoNuuff My problem is, yes they might've turned red when he used his power, however. That's who Gambit has always been, sine birth he'd had red and black eyes, even when NOT using his power. Hence why he was abandoned as a baby and grew up in the streets, and hence why his name is Le Diable Blanc. :/ I was disappointed in the lack of his CONSTANT eye color, and I wish they'd spent more time on him throwing the cards and the energy signatures on them. Yeah it was Belladonna's brother, he did not want his sister marrying someone from the Thieves guild and also he did not want peace between the two guilds so he challenged Gambit to a fight in which Gambit ended up killing him. I think a Gambit spin-off (prequel leading up to the Wolverine film) will be a very good way to get the fans in. After all they are making a Magneto and even a Deadpool film.
They HAVE to do a Gambit:Origins movie with Taylor Kitsch, they just HAVE to!! X-P He was perfect in every way, all he needs is more screen time, the red and black eyes, and most importantly, HE NEEDS ROGUE!!! Gambit is the man!! And to put him for 30sec's in this movie that all about wolverine!! He was kool when I was a kid, but now they should just call it, "WOLVERINE!!! (and some other guys)"

@ZombiePanda88 Totally agree with you. No offence to Wolverine, I think he's an awesome character, but frankly, I've seen enough of Jackman's Wolverine to last me three lifetimes. I was starting to lose hope for any future X-Men movies that could be deemed 'great', but at least X-Men: First Class has proven that quality still matters in the industry! Gambit sucked ass in this movie. They didn't even get his Cajun accent right. This dude's sporting a basic Louisiana accent, imo.

Funny, cuz if Kitsch only had a Montreal accent, he looks like goalie Jose Theodore in the interview parts... prob. would have had more of a Cajun effect than that which ppl are clamoring about! But it def. helps to have a hockey body to do that kinda training!!! I agree, there should be way MORE of Gambit (regardless of WHO plays him, but I do love Kitsch!)

@geotref - it's call card throwing or card spinning... with the deck of cards in a horizontal position in front of you, clip the right long ends of the deck with your right index & little fingers. the middle and ring fingers are resting along the short right side of the deck. here, the thumb is free and you are going to touch the top card which is towards you using the right thumb. use the pad of your thumb to push the top card upwards in a swift motion. this would spin the card upwards.

I love Gambit so much more when he's being a manipulative, self interested dick. No-one's properly written him like that since Fabian Nicieza got thrown off his solo series. He's just no fun as 'a thief with a heart of gold'- there's no edge. And he's so much less attractive as a character. Gambit under Nicieza was Jack Sparrow like. There hasn't been any one who could write Gambit as well as Fabian did.

@nightsongs1970 i would love a gambit movie... but Deadpool is far from unoriginal, especially if you've seen some of his comics. I can totally see why a deadpool movie would be popular, and at least we have the fact that Reynolds is a nerd going towards the movie's favor, since characters who's actors love the role tend to turn out rather well.

- things. I didn't -hate- the characters in Origins, but I didn't love him either. I was somewhere in between. And when it's something I really care about, I get very passionate and I can ramble on for a while. It was mainly the lack of accent and eyes that bothered me. Those glowing red iries when he used his powers didn't count. I understand the Cajun accent is probably hard but that is what practice is for. I think he should have put more time and effort into practicing that accent.

- the producers did. They could have gone with contacts like Mystique had or they could have gone CGI, but the contacts would have been a helluva lot cheaper. They should have done that. Those eyes are unique to Gambit. Without them, he looks like an ordinary mutant. I also think those powers could have been used more. Not enough energy. Not to mention the wrong color. The energy is usually redish orange or just red.

As an avid Gambit fan, I have to say I was disappointed. I think Taylor was a good choice for a younger version of the character because he looks like a younger Josh Holloway but there were some things he needed to work on. The accent was a big one. He did very well with the bo-staff so I give him props for that but if he put in that much effort to learn how to use the staff, then he could have put in that much effort for the accent. @nameme101 Agreed. I was also severely annoyed that Gambit's bo-staff was snapped in two thanks to Wolverine's claws. Canonically speaking, isn't Gambit's bo-staff made of adamantium? Therefore, it wouldn't snap when Wolverine sliced it in half. I'm pretty sure it's one of the reasons why Gambit at his best can easily school Wolverine in a fight in the comics.

I think i was a little disappointed by the eyes and a tiny bit about the accent, but i think the story about him beein taken to the island by Logan's team and the fight between Logan and him, made up for it! I too was dying to see Gambit in action, and I think the producers got a great actor to portray such a wanted character.

@shoNuuff My problem is, yes they might've turned red when he used his power, however. That's who Gambit has always been, sine birth he'd had red and black eyes, even when NOT using his power. Hence why he was abandoned as a baby and grew up in the streets, and hence why his name is Le Diable Blanc. :/ I was disappointed in the lack of his CONSTANT eye color, and I wish they'd spent more time on him throwing the cards and the energy signatures on them. Hopefully next film they'll fix it a bit

Im wondering how the first X-Men show could fit Gambit in and now every x-Men show now hes in like one episode and leaves. Its stupid. But Gambit is my favorite X-Men and always will be. I mean if Deadpool gets his own movie so should Gambit. I mean Gambit has a better back story than Wolverine. I mean Gambit killed his own brother in the comics which was badass. Wolverine vs sabertooth fight on the first X-Men movie was dumb.

Yeah it was Belladonna's brother, he did not want his sister marrying someone from the Thieves guild and also he did not want peace between the two guilds so he challenged Gambit to a fight in which Gambit ended up killing him. I think a Gambit spin-off (prequel leading up to the Wolverine film) will be a very good way to get the fans in. After all they are making a Magneto and even a Deadpool film.
