Raymond, I've never been a Peggy Lee fan but that recording of "Where or When" may be the best recording of that song that I've ever heard. Just wonderful!!
Everything about this video was wonderful, love the colors in the player, and the song, and yes, even Peggy Lee!! (Is that all there is..) LOL! except for the moving the tripod noise, this is a slam dunk, I just love that player, the colors are so soothing! I don't have any player with that type of cartridge anymore but have had a few over all these years (more than I even could begin to remember).. after all I am a record nut! lol, cool video my friend!'
BTW, at the local antique shop, they're selling a mid-1950s Zenith Cobramatic. It needs a new cartridge as well as I could not get the records to change. The motor works. Do you want it? It is 60 dollars.
@VinylLad No...that's too much to have to put more dollars into it. I have my one Cobra, that's enough. You should make them an offer (40.00), get it working and have a vintage player for yourself. ;-) You can get a needle for it at Needle In A Haystack. The rest sounds like it needs lubed.
@RaymondTVinyl That would be cool, to have a vintage 1950s player next to a refurbished 1970s style table (Technics SL 1200). I can use the old thing to play my mono classical/easy listening LPs and the other one to play all my metal, etc!
Very cool phono and I love the slider controls on the changer! I've learned the hard way too with stryene and stereo records on those vintage mono players even the ones made in the 70s too.
Nice find on the changer. I wonder, I have some LPs from 1948 that are a tad noisy. Should I play them a few times on an old thing like this and then play them on my precious elliptical/shabitiha stylus? Would it make a big difference?
@RaymondTVinyl I usually do not have that much of an issue with stereo LPs, most of those little thin grooves can not escape all my brushes and pads, but those mono Columbia records from the 1940s-late 1950s ARE A BUGGER TO CLEAN!
That's a fine-looking & -sounding phono. The one I had as a kid used the double needle -- one for 78's, flip to the other for microgroove discs. Is the Admiral transistorized or does it use tubes?
I like your choice for the demo record -- Rogers & Hart's "Where or When". Great BG version of it too. There's plenty of really good music on 78's.
That is SUCH a beautiful player!! LOVE the blue!! SO very Atomic!! how FABULOUS, my bakelite Admiral has that Life Tested sticker, too!! It sounds SO beautiful! Just glorious!! So glad I waited up to hear this!! What a glorious song choice!
I picked up a voice of music machine, same color schenectady

I like that color! What type of changer is that? It looks almost like a VM but I think that Admiral made their own changer.

Thought I had this Benny/Peggy OKeh beauty posted, but I only have the flip "Blues In The Night" up.
