  • did they have traction control in the 2001 season?

  • @ttenho They allowed it part way through the 2001 season, just before or just after Monaco I belive (not sure).

Note I said 'allowed'; some of the top teams were suspected of using it secretly anyway.

  • @toureyaya24: It was introduced earlier indeed, in the early nineties i guess. Then FIA has banned it and alowed the teams to use it durnig 2001.

  • I want to marry this circuit!!

  • BEST f1 moments in history :/

  • v10 YES

  • He lost 0.4 seconds to schumacher in the last sector i cant see where?

    awesome

  • @BingobONGOyesyo he lost at least 1 tenth or 2 with his oversteer in the last corner. That's the difference between a good driver like montoya and a great driver like michael. The consistancy over a lap.

  • @BingobONGOyesyo: It's hard to say, someone claimed it was about the slide on the exit from the last corner, but in my opinion it didn't affect the time because he didn't go off the throttle.

He seems to be a little bit too slow before the last corner. The last section is a little bit tricky and It looks like he didn't want to err so he wasn't fast enough there.

It was one of his first Qualifying sessions in the F1. No wonder he didn't feel as confident as Schumacher in the two final turns

  • with the drivers of that time and the rules of nowdays the F1 would be something more than amazing. Can't have everything :(

  • wow the car back then just really feels hard to drive and faster!!

  • why don't I hear traction control?

  • @toureyaya24 f1 made it legal in 2002

  • @sschlappkohl oh, thought they introduced it earlier, tx

  • wow they changed gears so much quicker then today's cars! why is that?

  • @nickforthetitle it's because of the type of circuit, you can see a lot of acceleration and very slow corners so, they didnt need so much downforce. Good circuit being missed :(

  • @deshielo27 cool. i want to see it back aswell...more excitement

  • @nickforthetitle Its like monaco you know ! There they change the gears so fast too. because then they get a good acceleration but the topspeed is not so hight then !!

In monza the gears are very long ! the downforce is not very much so they have a good topspeed on the straights !

  • @1cem6n it's a V10

  • @deshielo27 yeah sorry

  • @nickforthetitle they don't change gears any quicker do they? I thought something had been introduced so that changing gears didn't effect the car in 2010? :S

  • @mackey12160204 It is. A little search led me to a page with qauaqlifying times from that race weekend, and Juan had a 1'09.686, which is the laptime this video shows :)

  • Thats why their engines broke all the time in 01 look where they had 7th gear it was so long it was on the limit an engine killer

  • 0.15 seconds....01 where they had 7 th gear no space and the times.

  • Very nice lap, until last sector.

  • The 2001 cars looked incredibly difficult to drive.

  • @traydamus It was more the BMW, and it´s sheer power output. The car was notorious for having not bad but not as good aero as the others but my god did it spank every other car in a straight line like it was nothing.
