The Horn triggers the ditch lights.

If your engine has flashing ditch lights, they start flashing whenever you activate the horn, and stop after letting off the horn for 2 or 3 seconds. The ditch lights shut off when you're in neutral.

I have an old Athearn, but the ditch lights obviously don't work since they weren't that sophisticated. What model is your engine?
