I thought you were great, though you should try to sing a little louder or turn the mic up because at points you had to listen really hard to understand what you were standing. Then you should probably look a little sound....but besides that you were great! :)

I don't think Eponine was angry with Marius-- if she were, do you think she would've helped him make contact with Cosette? I think her love for him ran deeper than that. She loved him so much that she wanted him to be happy, even if it wasn't with her. She wanted his happiness more than her own. I don't think that kind of emotion would have bred anger.

Thanks for commenting, in this version it was sung in a concert-type show, and it breaks copyright laws to dress as the characters etc if you're only paying for a PRS (just the music) liscence! I have another version on here in half costume, and I think I'm going to upload a version I've just done which was in full costume :)

Yes Kimberley Walsh did sing this, i saw the tv show but sadly i think Lucy May sings this much better and she is only 14 and imagine how good she would be if she was given the voice coach and time that kimberley had on that programme!!!

well, let me just say that you really captured the essence of the song, and that's the hard part. you're very talented. that said, it was a bit pitchy in places, but nothing horrible. try not to raise your head up when you sing higher pitches. i have trouble with this myself because it feels natural, but it actually closes off cavities in the back of your neck and changes the quality of the sound. i also felt like you were holding back some power, but it might just have been the sound. great job

Way over emotionalized. You need some vowel modification work. Some of your vowels are much to spread and need to be taller. The song also needs to have much more line. To much pressed sound in the lower register. It isn't night tis over. NO night Is over. On pretending your intonation is under. Get some coaching on register consistency so you don't have to yell the higher notes.

People forget how old you were when they comment this . there is no other 14 year old on here who sings with as much passion and knowing about th song .
but shes not poor. why is she always so dirty then? Im just curious because im singing this song in a music ferival soon and I want to get the character right having never seen the musical.
If you had taken the time to read the description you would have realised that it certainly wasn't school play.
And as it was a concert, it wasn't suitable, or legal for that matter, to dress in what Eponine actually wears. In the schools editions of the show, it is perfectly legal to wear costumes as rights and the liscence for the show have been gained. When you only pay PRS, however, and sing only a few songs from the show, you have to be in formal/normal dress.

As it was a variety show (like, a glorified musical cabaret) we didn't have the money to get costumes, and only managed to get a dress for 'Popular' because my friend works in theatre costume.

Thank you everyone for your constructive comments! My hair is a nightmare - as it was a variety show with lots of quick changes, I had to pull it up quickly and the dress was a terror to get into, so sorry!
And with regards to my technique and voice, I'm hope you'll agree my voice is far from settled (I'm 15 now) and I have loads hard work and practice to do! xx
yeah, impressive for one so young but equally seeing a proper vocal coach will help you sort out those occasional tuning lapses and the problems you have with the vowel 'o' throughout. You have a nice tone mid-range...
next time maybe u should pull back ur bangs so that we can focus on ur face and so that u don't do the flippy hair thing. lolz ur voice is gorgouse. i loved it :D
actually 'Gewinda' using your chest voice for higher register notes, is an extremelly common technique used in music theatre. So in the context of this peice I think it is used well, well done. However, I agree about the hair in the face and the need to try to create a fuller tone on the higher notes.

Just because you have been singing since you were 8 doesnt mean you know everthing about singing. You have a pleasent voice but you do strain it using your lower register on your top notes. Learn to use your top register on notes such as that and if you practise it will become stronger and the sound will be much much nicer and less harsh.

It's best to pull your hair back from your face. Otherwise people lose your expressions. Also, vocally, you are really pushing and straining your voice. To create more sound, you need to resonate more, not push sound out.

Way over emotionalized. You need some vowel modification work. Some of your vowels are much to spread and need to be taller. The song also needs to have much more line. To much pressed sound in the lower register. It isn't night tis over. NO night Is over. On pretending your intonation is under. Get some coaching on register consistency so you don't have to yell the higher notes.

As far as the 'night is over' line, I feel that if a song like this is too over pronounced it loses the meaning, and is too focused on the voice?
And I'm sorry if it was to emotional for you. I sing what I feel.

If you had taken the time to read the description you would have realised that it certainly wasn't school play.
And as it was a concert, it wasn't suitable, or legal for that matter, to dress in what Eponine actually wears. In the schools editions of the show, it is perfectly legal to wear costumes as rights and the liscence for the show have been gained. When you only pay PRS, however, and sing only a few songs from the show, you have to be in formal/normal dress.

I absolutely see your point about that. It's difficult to really imagine the song as a real moment isn't it?
As it was a variety show (like, a glorified musical cabaret) we didn't have the money to get costumes, and only managed to get a dress for 'Popular' because my friend works in theatre costume.
Glad you enjoyed my video, and just so as you know, as a video response for this video I have my version of this song when I'm in costume :) xx

Thank you everyone for your constructive comments! My hair is a nightmare - as it was a variety show with lots of quick changes, I had to pull it up quickly and the dress was a terror to get into, so sorry!
And with regards to my technique and voice, I'm hope you'll agree my voice is far from settled (I'm 15 now) and I have loads hard work and practice to do! xx

yeah, impressive for one so young but equally seeing a proper vocal coach will help you sort out those occasional tuning lapses and the problems you have with the vowel 'o' throughout. You have a nice tone mid-range...

actually 'Gewinda' using your chest voice for higher register notes, is an extremelly common technique used in music theatre. So in the context of this peice I think it is used well, well done. However, I agree about the hair in the face and the need to try to create a fuller tone on the higher notes.

Jesus you really cant take critasism, and thats constructive.
Just because you have been singing since you were 8 doesnt mean you know everthing about singing. You have a pleasent voice but you do strain it using your lower register on your top notes. Learn to use your top register on notes such as that and if you practise it will become stronger and the sound will be much much nicer and less harsh.

It's best to pull your hair back from your face. Otherwise people lose your expressions. Also, vocally, you are really pushing and straining your voice. To create more sound, you need to resonate more, not push sound out.
