I was there every other week and this match is one that will last in the memories of every true Pompey fan....i too rem the santa claus invading the pitch...but i think it helped us too the win
I was in the south stand that day and must of jumped 3 rows of seats when the 2nd went it. Must admit i did enjoy them days as much if not more than pompey being in the premier league. Hard to understand i know but if you were at fratton park in the early to mid eighties home and away they where great times.
Utterly brilliant! Two goals in injury time all due to the pitch invasion by Santa Claus which held the match up - probably the best five minutes I've had at Fratton Park. Alan Biley - what a legend!

22 December 1984. Oxford went up and Pompey had to wait until 1987...twenty years on and there they are making their European debut.
