  • I purchased this video on VHS in 1986 and it cost me $55.00!!

I saw things in this remastered version that I DID not see in my VHS tape version!

What an eye-opener to Digital technology!

Thanks to whom ever did it!

  • The car is defo a Merc and the soundtrack ( which is dubbed over ) is defo a Ferrari quad cam v12

  • its a fucking merc lol

  • Vquality SUCKS

  • What do you expect the video is 30 years old

  • Video quality SUCKS

  • Finitiiiiiii!!!

  • this is boring. and the tires screech when he is going straight... clearly dubbed. not to mention he passes people so gradually LOL! the engine sounds like he is doing 140 MPH but he goes by a car at like 50 MPH. weak.

  • you do better, no CGI cheating or studio editing cheating thank you very much

ever tried driving fast through narrow city streets yourself?? you think it's as easy as driving some car in a videogame??

  • Wow you are retarded. This wouldn't be shit if it was fake but its real. Not some gay ass fast and furious shit. Strap a camera to your car and do 30 mph non stop through paris then you have some right to talk you dumb shit

  • thank you...

  • getaway in stockholm is a good one to

  • that is ferrari engine, hear the recuperations of the engine....

  • it was dubbed.

the real car was a Mercedes. the director was the driver. :P

  • this is a 450 SEL with the sound of a 275 dubbed over

  • I think is filmed in a real Ferrari. You can hear how the engine changes his sound inside the tunnels and when the car is in a narrow street.

A few years ago I saw an interview where they did the same travel with a mercedes that had installed a camera.

  • it was actually filmed on a mercedes benz diesel and the ferrari 275's engine sound was recorded later and dubbed in.

  • awesome car

    5/5*

  • "Tell me how to open your eyes!"

    Damnt!

E eu achando que ja tinha visto antes

    ueheuhe

  • Sorry. 6.9, not 6.5

  • lol it is a 450sel but with a ferrari 275 dubbed over it

  • You can also see here on youtube the Vid "Rendez Vous - Making off". There you can see an original photo of the car with the camera on it ;-)

  • you'd never get away with this now

  • It was a Mercedes W116, not a Ferrari. Look in the english, french or german Wikipedia. The movie is called "C'était un rendez-vous"

  • 1978 Lelouch mounted a camera to a Ferrari and had a professional racer drive at breakneck speed through Paris early in the morning. The course was from Porte Dauphine, thru the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed; he was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver reached nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. He ran real red lights, nearly hitting pedestrians, and drove the wrong way up one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested.

  • It was 1976.

And it wasn't a Ferrari but a Mercedes 450SEL 6,9. Lelouch has admitted this himself.

After shooting this he dubbed it over with the sountrack of a Ferrari 275

  • Thanks for the correction!

  • Ferrari was only for the sound of the car. See the making off, everything is explain !

  • This film was made in the 1970s or early 80's. Roumors says it was formula 1 champ Jacques Lafitte driving though he denies it. nonetheless, it's a heck of a drive, and concidering recurrent traffic jams today vertually impossible to realise in todays Paris.

  • New Ferraris don't compare to the classics. Another 250 GTO will never happen.

  • too bad this wasn't a 250GTO driving, and neither a 275GTB like people have mistakenly believed

Claude Lelouch has admitted in interviews it was a Mercedes 450 SEL 6,9 with a dubbed sountrack of a Ferrari engine

  • I never said it was a 250 GTO. I feel in my opinion the GTO is the greatest ever Ferrari and nothing will come close to it again.

  • Ferrari F40?

  • @McLarenMercedes

As good as a Ferrari is, it is no where near the level a 50's and 60's competition Ferrari is.

  • @EJ25RUN

The 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO is in my opinion the greatest ferrari ever

i would do ANYTHING to own the real thing but its probably worth £3million now or near enough that price

  • Sorry to say but one sold in 2008 for £15.7m

  • that would be nearly impossible to dub. it is possible but i highly doubt it. the notes change perfectly with each street he is on. and there is zero chance that is a 6.9L mercedes engine. the sound is classic ferrari... anyone who knows their cars would agree

  • Lelouch who made this movie has already ADMITTED it was a Mercedes 6,9 with just the Ferrari engine sound dubbed over later

  • the truth revealed ^^

  • amen

  • Ok then, why don't you tell Claude Lelouch that he didn't drive a 450SEL, that he actually drove a 275GTB because you were there and saw the whole thing. There is a reason your comment has 4 thumbs down.

  • Wow..very nice...would be nice to know the exact route he took- giving the streets of Paris hasn't changed so much- and see if the time could be beaten using a new front engine v12 Ferrari..hum lets say..a 599 GTB !?

  • Vlak daarna zijn al die flitspalen geplaatst.

  • I wonder if this is where the people at nissan got there inspiration from when the 350z launched to make that Z films video? probably. man I remember seeing the Z films version in the movie theater at the second lord of the rings midnight premier.

  • he had one guy with a talkie at only one dangerous spot but the talkie wasn't working and Lelouch learned that after the race.

    ( i think it's @ 3:40 ( need a parisian to confirm that is 'les guichets du Louvre' )

  • filmed in 1976 with the leftover filmstock of his last movie. There were 3 men in the car,Lelouch Mercedes 450 SEL 6,9L,Lelouch was driving, the sound is edited with the sound of Ferrari and about the speed : " ... avenue Foch, between 150 and 180 km/h (93/111 MpH). Les Champs-Élysées 130 to 150 (80/93MpH) hitting 160 km/h(100MpH) ... up to Concorde,as it was no traffic, i have hit 200 km/h(124MpH). i crossed Concorde square at 150(93MpH). On the banks, i exceeded the 200 km/h.(124+MpH)"

  • Awesome skills... definately.... But he could have been more agressifffff..... like frenchs would say.... I wonder how it would be with Ayrton Senna on the steering...

  • Comment removed

  • this is a snow patrol clip.. open your eyes

  • gettin fed up with this its a fucking merc and its top speed 70mph fucking google it type in (Claude Lelouch) google images and 2 second pic there he is checkn his carma infront of his own fucking merc there hunreds a informatin telling you it is

  • the top speed is actually 60 to 70 it looks so fast beacsie the camra is low to the ground and yes it was not a ferrira its was a merc

  • Can one of you all here, not just roddyboyno 107, prooves that it is not a Ferrari that have been used in this film ? That the top speed is only about 70 km/h ? That the movie is "speed up" ?

  • Idiot. It was a 275 gtb. THat is the actual sound of a V12 being thrashed. Check the speed of the flashing indicators on some of the cars he passes. How could you possibly think it was sped up?

One day when you get your licence you can try thrashing a car with a camera on the bonnet and see what it looks like.

You kids are so thick you probaby think the world trade buildings collapsed because of a plane strike..

  • No YOU are the idiot. Claude Lelouch has already admitted in interviews the car he used was a Mercedes 450SEL 6,9. That Mercedes has a monster of a 6,9 litre V8 which meant it could out-accelerate most supercars in 1976 including a Ferrari 275 GTB.

Later the sound of the Ferrari V12 was dubbed over. Get it?? Dubbed over. Lelouch has said so himself and he made this movie.

Don't know what a 6,9 Mercedes is? Look it up you ignorant fool.

  • w116... that ugly thing :D

  • what really sucks is that this video has long been known to be a fake, the car he drive was a BMW, the engine noise is an over-dub, and the film is sped up. He DID run all those red lights and almost hit that old woman though.

Still a great film, one of the first of its kind.

  • ONLY England and Australia drives on the left side of the road, the rest drive on the right side

    ....Idiots

  • Japan, too.

  • countries driving on left side : Afrique du Sud, Anguilla,Antigua,Australie,Bahamas, Bangladesh,Barbade,Bhoutan,Botswana, Brunei ...

  • ... Channel Islands, Chypre, Dominique, Fiji, Grenade, Guyana, Hong Kong, Île Maurice, Îles Caïman, Îles Christmas, Îles Cocos, Îles Cooke, Îles Falkland, Îles Norfolk, Îles Pitcairn, Îles Turk et Caicos, Îles Vierges américaines, Îles Vierges britanniques ...

  • ... , Îls Salomon, Inde, Indonésie, Irlande, Isle de Man, Jamaique, Japon, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Macao, Malaisie, Malawi, Malta, Montserrat, Mozambique, Namibie, Nauru, Népal, Nouvelle Zélande, Ouganda, Pakistan, Papoua-Nouvelle Guinée ...

    who's the idiot ?

  • 'only' a third of mankind is drinving on the left side :p

  • And since this week Samoa, too! :)

  • yessir ! ;)

  • wait what the heck how come he got out on the left side, IN PARIS

  • BECAUSE he's in Paris. What are you a fucking moron?

  • dude chill out, besides ur car is suppose to have the steering wheel on the right side in the UK, but if u noticed u fucking ass wipe he gets out on the left side, and well he might have gotten it transfered from usa but y do that when u can just go to ur local ferrari dealer, now please let me kno if im wrong

  • I take it, you're an American? That explains a lot. Yes, you are right, the steering wheel is on the right in thr UK well done. Thing is, he's in PARIS! That's in a little known country called FRANCE. In France they drive on the same side of the road as you which means the steering wheel is on the...? Also the director of this peice is French, so it's safe to say he didn't get his car shipped from America. You really don't represent your country well do you, you ignorant douche.

  • wow im not a douche i was just confused i mixed up uk with france dats all, and im not ignorant either i just had the wrong idea thats all, and i represent my country very well i get great grades and sent good standards, i think im very good at a lot of wat i do, so u dont know wat so ever so dont tell me wat i do and dont do

  • Okay. You can speak to me when I confuse Mexico with America. I hope you know that ignorant comments on subjects that you know nothing about, is the reason so many people from your country get such a hard time from europeans and pretty much the rest of the world. Think before you speak douche.

  • its no a ferrari its a merc

  • Makes me sweat just watching!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He doesn't even honk once!!!

  • I remember watching this shortly after it was filmed, long before YouTube. Still a classic!

  • lol my 1993 ford thunderbird is faster. lol jk jk this car would smoke me.

  • we don't care

  • He almost lose the control at 7:40 !!!

  • He is like me......brilliant...

  • FAKE !

  • do caralho!!

  • Sounds awesome...but looks slow.

  • hmmm i guess its the video quality, but...the sense of speed feels like its going 50mph (80kph)

All that aggressive noise but it seems soooo slow :(
