  • As an atheist, I must say, I can see myself laughing at God.

  • I didn't know God was Canadian.

  • Why wasn't he sent to find the Shoe of Brian?

  • now this is a god I would worship

  • I have a feeling god watches this film all the time.

  • Of course it's a good idea!

  • (I'm sorry, vote me down if you wish, but I feel I should since it hasn't been done yet)

    2 people are not worthy.

  • I used to hunt for The Holy Grail, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • The French already have one.

  • yes it is.

  • King Arthur: God, if you love everyone with all your heart, then why do you send people who don't follow you into a dark oblivion with no possibility of redemption or repention?

God: Because I'm an asshole, noble earthling. Now find my son's lost cup!

  • OF COURSE IT'S A GOOD IDEA!!!!!

  • I know. Your point was about the argument...but this isn't an argument.

  • i used to talk to god, then i took an arrow to the knee

  • @KillaNinja0 The arrow of apollo.

  • @KillaNinja0 I used to talk to god then i took schizophenia to the psyche.

  • @alucardian101 i used to reply to comments, then i.. wait..

  • 'Good idea oh Lord' LOL

  • @MrJohndl

    COURSE IT'S A GOOD IDEA!

  • @MrJohndl Was funny

  • Karl Marx as God! Hilarious!!! :D

  • @navemine Actually, it's W.G. Grace.

  • @hppybob apparently you are right, but he does look very much like Marx though :D (besides, there are few Monty Python sketches with Marx as the topic).

  • COURSE IT'S A GOOD IDEA!

  • All you people debating religion because of this video are silly. Only those who follow the Shoe of Brian are following the true religion, there should be no debate about that.

  • @JovialJewels idiot, its the sandal of Brian, anyway all TRUE believers follow the gourd, not the sandal

  • @TheLisavantuyl You stupid fundamentalists, first of all it is a Shoe! And if the gourd was the answer why would we be sent the sign of the Shoe? The Shoe was sent so we could repent from the heathen ways of the gourd.

  • The picture is actually W.G. Grace with colour and a crown superimposed!

Very appropriate, because W.G. Grace certainly thought he was god!!

  • you know, I honestly believe that this is what God actually thinks!!!! He despises morons, lol!!!

  • Proof and Evidence caught on tape.

  • @groovyengineer LOL! I hadn't noticed! Good catch! : )

  • a great example of both the religious, and the non religious's absurd idea of what god is....a man in the clouds...easily mocked when you think on such a shallow level, isnt it

  • @longfootbuddy

Except the definition of God (with a capital "G") is "the perfect being". God is sometimes illustrated as a man in the clouds for nothing other than artistic purposes. But let's not debate about God on a Monty Python video :-)

  • @THEEVANTHETOON my definition of god with capital g, is the creator of the universe.. 'sticks tongue out and makes a rebellious noise'

  • notice that its just a QUEST for the holy grail. God said nothing about finding it.

  • @TBomb15

    Because it doesn't really exist....

  • @zonilo1 well it is difficult to imagine a wooden cup being intact after 2000 years.

  • Look at all these assholes debating religion in a Monty Python video.

  • one of the best scenes in the movie

  • i love how Monty Python's God is a total sarcastic jerk.

  • King Aurthur: Good idea, O Lord!

God: 'Course it's a good idea!

  • Where's that 'Get on with it' part I hear about?

  • Monty Python = Fucking Genius's! <3

  • "God Be PRAISED!"

That part kills me every time!

  • I just now noticed that the one knight say, "God be praised.", just like 5 Seconds after "God" left xD. Seems a bit weird, like a delayed reaction.

    ~Ryan

  • lol beard and hair seem to be cut from Marx's portrait, I wonder where the head comes from..

  • @ermonnezza74 Actually it's W.G. Grace.

  • "Good idea O Lord!"

    "COURSE IT'S A GOOD IDEA!"

  • vgyu8gf68 is a fat homo kid with HIV and Herpes

  • google Doe's Account.

  • If God really is like he is portrayed in this movie, then he's one cool dude.

  • As a Christian, I must say, I can see God laughing at this.

  • @movieman1211

    fayul ;P

  • @movieman1211 Yeah, laughing as she burns us all in molten salt or drowns us all in 40 days/nights of assorted precipitation. The Pythons hit the nail on the head: religion is nonsense and should be LAUGHED OUT OF EXISTENCE!!

  • @movieman1211

considering he invented humor I bet he can laugh with it XD

  • oh don't grubble!

  • I'm gonna spoof this in my cartoon!

  • I love the idea of God saying, "Knock it off!"

  • Of course it's a Good Idea!!

  • god appears to be very frustrated and tired.

I suggest a neck massage. Those seraphim sure have firm fingers...although ethereal

  • @scallywag86 This is the Dark Ages after all.

  • BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD.

  • OF COURSE IT'S A GOOD IDEA!

  • "Its like those miserable psalms; they're so depressing."

God pisses on his own bible :D

  • sure, that any of these words are from god?

  • the words of one fictional god or another. Does it make a difference which one?

  • The god in this video is just as real as any god you believe it.

  • Nice of you to preach your beliefs on youtube

  • Yes, it is nice of me.

  • It's not like anybody cares

  • You keep telling yourself that. Here that flushing sound? its your religious faith circling the drain.

and btw, all the members of Monty Python are atheists too.

  • You hear that? It's the sounds of thousands of heretics suffering at the hand of God

Yeah so? At least they don't go around youtube multiposting their ideas in the comment boxes of comedic videos.

  • I don't hear anything. Must be all in your head.. just like your G/god.

Uh huh. Keep lying to yourself. Then go visit some George Carlin videos where he bashes religion. There are plenty of you loony theists running around there.

  • Yeah just as I don't hear flushing, that's the problems with you soulless heathens, you never seem to know your own source

"multiposting their ideas in the comment boxes of comedic videos."

Sure he prophesies his ideas on youtube, that's what it's for, expressing your opinion, IN VIDEO! You go around to random videos concerning God in the littlest bit and flame Christians, then you have nothing to back you up

  • Nothing to back our atheist selves up.. except for science, logic, reason and rationality.

If you can't deal with the criticism, go hide in your room and pray harder.. I dont think your god can hear you.

  • Yeah, but you don't have a SOURCE! No creator! Did everything just pop out of a whole in the sky? Try and prove the creation of everything natural in this world

  • First of all, moron. The universe doesn't need a creator. Objects are perfectly capable of interacting without a conscious force driving them. Mars rotates around then sun because it has mass, not because it wants to.

Second, I don't have to prove anything. Conjectures, hypotheses and theories can not be proven only supported by evidence. Only mathematical laws and abstract logical arguments can be proven.

There exists more evidence to support the reality that there is no god. Deal with it.

  • So then, what is this evidence of which you speak?

  • First, there is the reality in which knowledge is gathered. For any event, the process of HOW the event occurred is established. Then if we find, from the HOW, that a conscious choice is required, we learn WHO was involved. After the WHO is established, then we can specify WHY that conscious forced acted in the way that it did.

Religion works in the exact opposite manner. It first asks WHY, then anthropomorphizes the unknown into a WHO and finally creates a mythology to establish the HOW.

  • to recap:

Science and Logic: HOW -> WHO -> WHY

Religion: WHY -> WHO -> HOW

There is nothing in the HOW the universe was established to suggest the existence of a god, let alone a Christian God.

Secondly there is nothing in the Christian religion that sets it apart from any other mythology. Cosmic deities, creation myth, deluge myth, kings taking counsel from cosmic deities, super-powered hero of divine lineage, end of the world myth. So if it looks, walks, talks, flies and fucks like a duck...

  • I'm one of those Christians who believe that it is possible that the Big Bang happened, but God did it. Naturally, one would expect that out of an explosion would come a mess, but what happened (if one believes the Big Bang) is that order came out of chaos. Order coming out of chaos (to me at least) suggests that there has to be something or someone establishing that order.

  • I'm also an appreciator of art, and I have the belief that all art has an artist. I know that this argument has been used many times before, but I cannot look at the moon bouncing off of ocean waves, snow falling through the wind, and mountains rising above clouds and not see art. And, as I said earlier, all art has an artist.

  • Here's where Christianity differs from other religions. For this argument only, think like a theist. Pretend that you believe in God for this argument so that you can see where I'm coming from. If God was the one who created everything, and made it beautiful, he must also be beautiful, or at least be an appreciator of beauty. No other religion to me screams beauty like a story of redemption, where the creator of the universe came down to earth to die in order to restore the previous order.

  • I do agree with you though, that Christians seem to be doing a poor job at HOW -> WHO -> WHY. That's why a while ago I had to throw my entire beliefs out the window, look at the facts, and logically reestablish what must be truth.

  • @sirdavealton:

    "What is Truth"?

  • @sirdavealton GET ON WITH IT!!!!!

  • @paxtofettel Yes, get on with it!!

  • In other words you apply your own emotional and psychological awe to the story and pretend it gives you more credibility than other religious people who apply their own awe to their own religions, past, present and future.

And don't ever bring up that art must have an artist stuff again. I AM AN ARTIST and I've had my work stolen before. Your assumption that "God did it" is no better than a plagiarist taking credit for something that he didn't do.

Your false claim devalues the art for us all.

  • Here is the problem with it. The Christian god borrows from Jewish mythologies, and is a sacrifice-loving god. How can a god that creates, admire its beauty while also command its destruction by way of fire-sacrifice?

Another point about your beliefs- why should a god who is all-powerful, need to rely on faulty human messengers? Why not speak directly? Surely that is a more faithful test of faith itself.

    Lastly, 1 Samuel 15:3

Why does a loving god command men to slaughter infants?

  • @sirdavealton Try the Bhagavad-Gita sometime. Read the one on Bartleby[dot]com

  • @sirdavealton Uhhhh, you know bringing logic to a Monty Python movie doesn't really work.

  • @sirdavealton Get the fuck off a Monty Python if your just going to preach. Seriously thought we kicked all the religious weirdo's from Britain to North America centuries ago.

  • Then you are placating to nonsense because as were moved by your own awe and nothing more.

We know a painting has a painter because we have seen paintings being painted. We know how the tools are used and see how they were applied. If you do not know HOW your artist made the universe any assumption that a specific artist made that art is a wild guess at best and at worst, a lie.

We do however know how religions and mythologies are invented by man to explain how things works without knowledge.

  • @sirdavealton shut up and enjoy the video, argiuing about religion on youtube is the most ridiculous thing a human beign can do, keep what you beleive to yourself, you won't change one opnion here and will only spam the comments with annoing discussions

  • @MateusVIII Spam? Was that a Monty Python joke?

  • @davidls11 i just realized that, but no, that wasn't my point

  • I would be REALLY surprised if God Himself is like that.

  • I would be REALLY surprised if God Himself is.
