Man Japan Just looks great I don't even want to be here in America I'd rather be in a japanese school!

But I'm already a senior and about to finish up.

But I guess I'll visit Japan for I guess 3-4 days and see how I like it but if I love it I'll definitely live there.

Does anyone think that I would be able to learn at least SOME Japanese before I get to my Junior year in High School? I'm in 7th grade now and i've been learning for about a year and a half. I can have a basic conversation with broken Japanese if that counts....

Geez i'd love to go to Tokyo for studies or for highschool. unfortunately i'm from Poland and we don't have here any exchenge program that involves japan(haven't found a one) . but maybe i'll go there for exchange when i study at UM in miami :), have a lotta japanese to learn. cheers Kathrine :) (and other youtubers , of course :))

I wish I could go in Japan. It's my dream....The problem is I just come started learning japanese and for now I do know about 11 hiragana...and some words. I have to work it out !!

@TheSunset0 it's ok.... by next yr ull be able to learn all of hirigana +katakna + about 340 kanji (if u take former classes) but if u don't, don't worry either, I know some friends who r a head of me learning by themselves XD.

Hey kat what was your first week at a japanese school like? Im thinkin about studying abroad too, a couple years from now tho (yes Im thinking way ahead but its my dream to experiance a japanese high school life).. Im a shy&quiet person around people I hardly know. I think it'd be very diffucult for me to communicate and make friends. Do you have any advice?

Its more likely to get raped in america than in Japan be sure about that.Althought its reputation japan has a very low rape rate and generally a crime rate as a country.

@DaikouDango My mom said the exact same thing! But now she's seriously considering it thanks to my older sister (she like, a freaking debate queen). Just tell your parents how the family gets a full, complete background check and you can even talk to them before hand on the phone. :)

Also, universities would really like the fact that you're mulitiligual and have been aboard! They look for risk takers and people who stand out .

Generally, Japanese become not assailants but victims of crime by foreigners even in Japan, if anything, that includes not only shoplifting but felony like rape, robbery... Actually I hear host families that accepted foreigners often find some equipments are lost after they left there.

BTW, korea has a pretty high rate of rape, so I suspect your parents confuse.

@DaikouDango that's what every GOOD parent would be concerned about even if they don't express it. in my experience i had to seriously have a talk with my parents and show them the information that I found before they let me go. there was a lot of talking and a lot of work that i had to do. We came to this agreement, we will host a girl from japan fro a year, then the next year you stay with her family. the best part our parents are exactly alike.

@DaikouDango the family you live with is probably a family that has worked with the exchange program. not only that, but if a family volunteers, the exchange program goes and visits their house and family and checks their records so its pretty rape proof.

@DaikouDango I would understand. I've been in Japan my whole life. Yet I'm not Japanese at all. But when I go off-base (outside the naval base) there are lots of stories of getting raped. I'm not sure about America. ^.^ but hope you are able to go to Japan. Japan is a wonderful place. ^.^
