  • That last feather stick would had made ray mears proud! Lol. Loving it Colin, keep it up fella. {~_~}

  • @thedawnawakening Thanks my friend :-) Always appreciate your support and kind words, take care.

  • @ColinOutdoors Thank You so much. I broke my last knife splitting wood with it but now I know the correct technique!

  • @ReubenOutdoors HI my friend, sorry to hear your knife broke on you, take care

  • id love to buy one were cn i order one from

  • @gameomaster Yeah its a cool knife, check out Gary Mills handmade knives

  • really liked this video thanks for posting it

  • @roglet123 Cheers mate, glad you like it :-)

  • awesome, i see people split wood with their knives all the time i just never really tried it. i usually just go with a hatchet but its a big pain and a risk to my hands to try splitting wood that skinny, so next time im going to try this instead.

  • @Cptheadstomp420 Cool, its a fun thing to do I think, splitting wood with a knife is quite fun, I like axes and hatchets also, but I do prefer doing it with a knife.

  • That bloody plane again lol I'm like'in this knife more more.... a nice little tool.

  • @davetogo123 Lol, I know I can't get rid of the plane lol, cheers Dave

  • Hi Colin, my friend! Thx for the demo of the Mini Bushcraft. Worked as expected batoning. To speak honestly, I wasn't overly impressed with it in this phase. The smaller the slices got, the better the blade performed, and I think that's where this knife should make the bulk of its living. There's no replacement for length (that's what she said), and just two more inches (that's what she said right after) would give this knife more diverse abilities.

Love the way you do your vids, friend!!!

  • @sabr686 Thanks mate, your right, the bigger the blade the better it splits, your comment made me laugh alot lol, cheers mate.

  • that looks like ray mears' knife

  • @gavphoenix1 It sure does, cool eh :-)

  • Wow Great Videos man! thanks for taking your time to teach us all this cool stuff!

  • @Deeeveees Thank you my friend, and thanks for taking the time to view and comment, I really appreciate it

  • @flashlightfreak9 Cheers Flash, yeah I agree a wedge wood sure help get the knife out if it gets stuck, thanks for the tip my friend :-)

  • Great video, had my doubts about that knife getting all the way through the first split. It's a tough bit of steel there! Keep up the good works!

  • @investigator76 Thanks my friend, yeah I was impressed with the little knife :-)

  • When batoning with a small knife I make a wooden wedge to take over for the small blade once it has gone about half way through and binds up. Give that a try, my friend from across the Pond.

  • @hoosierarcher Thanks mate, thats a brilliant idea :-)

  • @ColinOutdoors You're welcome Colin, keep up the good vids. I'll help when and how I can.

  • @hoosierarcher Cheers my friend, thanks for your support :-)

  • LOL yall cut yo finga off! You play with knives enough and yes, you will get cut, this guy plays with them more than most so Id say he atleast knows halfway what he is doin.

Like your vids Colin! Im thinking about getting a bushcraft now.

  • @Fluentmotion Thanks my friend, yeah I have cut myself a couple of times. I really appreciate your support :-) I hope you get a Bushcraft knife mate, you'll love it.

  • You are lucky you did not cut your hand off. Some of those twist when the knife was jammed could have easily ended with one less digit. I suggest you also carry a hand ax to save your fingers. Sooner or later you are going to cut yourself doing that.

  • @btigtime2 Yeah its difficult to back a knife out when stuck, I think a woodend wedge would have been a better way to go, however that is not always possible

  • aww look at teh cute little babbi nife! lol, nice job man, makes me glad I've got a good machette though. I can't wait till I get a camera so I can make fun of you guys with my "skillz" ; )

  • @delta2131 lol thanks mate, i'll look forward to your vids :-)

  • Lots of cutting power in a small knive its just great.

  • @EDINBURGSTAR Thanks Joe

  • 4:45 it sounded like u sed that the wood was very naughty XD great vid tho :)

  • @Birdy95100 lol it was :-) cheers mate, thanks for the support

  • iawoodsman's one-stick fire is one of the best and most important demonstration of a must-have bushcraft skill there is. I highly recommend it.

Nice knife, btw! The more you know, the less you need.

  • @icychap Yeah its a great demonstration, I enjoy watching his videos. Thanks my friend.

  • I'm glad people are getting away from the school of thought of, "bigger is better" when it comes to knives. I have a 5 inch blade knife, but am considering smithing a smaller one...with a bigger handle. Good job on the video, bud.

  • @MajesticChicken Thanks mate, yeah small knives are very useful.

  • If you keep the blade horizontal while batoning it won't migrate out.

If you point the blade slightly down it will migrate in and if you point it slightly up it will start to go out again.

  • @agun17 Thats hard thought escpecially if the wood has alot of knots and the blade it small. I am aware of this. Cheers for your support my friend

  • Bushcraftbarton gave some advice on splitting wood with a saw. He sawed a notch fairly deep in the wood and then held it on the intact end while pounding it on the chopping block. The deeply sawed notch created a point of weakness along which the wood split. I think it could work here as well. I'll have to give it a go myself to find out.

Also that is a nice little knife. It is amazing what can be done with a high quality, compact blade.

  • @colddrake80 Yeah I have seen and use the saw a bit to split wood, its a brilliant technique. Thanks my friend, I appreciate your support.

  • Nice looking little knife. I am glad you like the one stick fire.

  • @iawoodsman Thanks mate, sorry I didn't mention your YouTube name, I always seem to forget alot when making videos. Thanks for teaching use the one stick fire my friend.

  • once again. Useful info ;]

  • @butaangas Thank you my friend

  • with small knife like this you can still do a lot of work .You can skin very big animals without any problem and is lite weight...nice vid thanks for sharing

  • @nqkoisii I agree my friend, small knives are valuable and can do lots of the tasks a large one does, thanks mate :-)

  • good test, great quality, nice blade amigo!!!

  • good vid colin and cool knife!!!

  • @ipodtouchguy951 Thank you my friend

  • @ColinOutdoors ur welcome!!!

  • @faithgoshi Thanks mate :-)

  • this might sounds stupid lol , but does the grass grow over there? i always see it short.

  • @Jshelley89 lol yeah it grows alot in summer, I just cut it the other day :-)

  • Great vid- thumbs up- :D>

What is the length of that blade?

  • @tungstenfusion Thanks man, the blade length is 2 7/8 inches

  • My knife has a 5 inch blade and when I'm spliting larger logs I start at one end until my knife starts to migrate out then i just flip the log and start from the other end. Most of the time that is enough to pull the rest apart with my hands. This way seems easier for me but i could be wrong.

  • @frazierp7 Cool, thats a great tip, cheers my friend

  • nice work; great skill; good clean fun.

  • @enjoythewildUSA Cheers my friend

  • agin great vidoe as always

  • @ness1105 Thanks mate

  • Great Vid Col.. as for noise...I SAID THE NOISE>>>>>N>O>I>S>E....... yup i know exactly what you mean as my videos will demonstrate more so when filming with Mike from Stoneage Bushcraft in our local woodland :o)

  • @outithewoods Thanks mate lol, yeah I have seen many videos with Mike Dixon when he apologise for the train noise, its hard to get peace and quiet in Britan lol.

  • solid blade and fine demo, thanks

  • @bcafotw Cheers my friend

  • Well done Colin! Great little knife, but I'd use a machete for splitting.

  • @Angyal269 Cheers mate, yeah a machete sure would make the job easier :-)

  • @ColinOutdoors The Rambo IV machete worked out for me pretty well. It has a thick blade that can take the batoning abuse.

  • That is one good knife, but do you think its better than the mora clipper ?

  • @nuttyrocker Yeah I think overall its better than the Clipper, better steel and stronger, the Clipper is still a great knife though and being longer it has its advantages too :-)

  • Once again you continue to delever an impressive video, great job Colin keep it up.

  • @asg00001 Thank you my friend

  • Cool knife and well done, thx ; ) Greetings Sepp

  • @Waldhandwerk Cheers Sepp

  • Great video! I actually tried splitting some with my Mora 911 on my survival/ hiking trip, as it was my only knife i brought, it performed flawlessly. I wish it was a little longer and thicker but I really had no choice, all the dead wood was wet from rain the night before. Try some with your Clipper when you can, and it'd be cool for some game processing/ cooking videos. keep up the good work!

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 Yeah I have done alot of splitting with the Clipper, it really does work great. I like the Mora 911 and seems it performs excellent on wood. Thank you mate, I really appreciate your support.

  • Great video as ever Colin.

Id've expected sucha short knife would have more trouble than it did splitting the wood.

Keep up with the great videos.

  • @MetalTillIDie461 Yeah the mini bushcraft knife sure does split wood well. Thanks mate :-)

  • nice vid

  • @Peno234 Cheers man

  • This looks like a really good all around small bushcraft knife, alot of toughness in a small size. good job Colin.

  • @jolietjake1970 Thank you my friend

  • Well done Coling, thats the technique that Ray Mears use too.

Those airplanes man the first one i heard on 03.15 the second one at 10.12 min lol.

Iam so glad that i dont live in a area where we dont hear them all the time lol.

I know Colin i always notice the small details haah.

Thanks for the video COlin i really appreciate that.

  • @BuschTukkerMan Thank you Busch, lol yeah it does get noisey, every 5 or 10 minutes another plane passes by.

  • Comment removed

  • you forgot a key ingredient. Oil thine blade! should have been a commandment hahaha

  • @Killahofosho lol yeah some wd40 would of helped
