Ethnic cleansing is not new to the Balkans; only the term for what happens in every major war. The Yugoslav wars is teh first time anyone said it's terrible and never happened before Izetbegovic wanted all non-Muslims out. The Croats wanted ideally all of Bosnia to be a part of Croatia. There were enough Serbs who wanted the same.

That becomes evident in the Memorandum SANU which was published in 1986. @skaro051 Except it was the Bosnian Muslims who started the first acts of ethnic cleansing. The Serbs just reacted in kind. And Germans were always the majority status in Germany itself. Hitler could have backtracked like 99.9% of politicians do, and didn't. You don't even need to be a majority, you just need control, and Milosevic had that in Kosovo by 1999. Hell, looking at the time table, the hundreds of thousands of refugees left Kosovo AFTER the bombing started.

It was right in what Albanians were doing against any non-Albanians (which further proves you wrong in your point that there was no need to cleanse Serbia Proper: there was no need to cleanse Kosovo of Roma, Croats, Egyptians, and many others as Albanians were the majority) and the NYT published multiple articles on the matter in 81-82, and 87. I disagree with a lot of it, as did many others.

New Internationalist did a great feature on the UN and things they don't want people to know about, to the point where the families of Bosnian Muslims who had relatives die at Srebrenica are bringing up cases against both the UN and the Dutch government for their incompetence and failure to act.
