  • great song. i was a little irritated by the cheezy jazzed up guitar solo at 1:27 though

  • What is not to love about Dolly?

  • I dont really dig Country music, maybe cause todays Country artists are such a bunch of non-talented performers (like most of the industry is). But I can hear now of these classics that music back then had stories. They had their own life. And I prefer this D.Parton. Todays D.Parton scares me.

  • @malelion today's country music is just pop crap designed to milk the masses of money. Old school country is pure and simple and genuine.

  • this song is inspiring..i like the way she sing

  • When i was growing up my mom use to play Dolly's songs all the time and my mom said Dolly sings like a angel and looks so beautiful and now Dolly is still at top of the world!!.Thank you Dolly!!

  • What a beautiful woman, WOW.

  • classic dolly...the queen!

  • what a beautiful face....

  • "A boy who loved me dearly, but I broke his heart severely"--what a great line. This is the best version of this song--the guitar in the first verse is nicely played.

  • Was the backup group all 5 yr olds and new to playing? Can you say setup?? But she still shined! Hahaha

  • were her breasticles always that big????

  • Dude her cans are huge! ;)

  • I was about to comment on the backing music, but remember being raised that if you can't say something nice don't say anything. That's my review of the band.

  • oh your an idiot. just say whats on your mind. you dont gotta be polite on youtube. please

  • How have your parents adjusted to raising a special needs child such as yourself?

  • oh shut up you trash

  • Dolly is amazing! i love her she is the best person in the world. she has a gift no 1 els in this world has. my greatest wish is to sing on stage with her. she is my idiol. i love her. she is so cool. i know this is a suprizing thing coming from a 12 year old. but i do love her. ini would do anything to meet her.

  • christ, that back ground band is freaking annoying!!! and just plain wrong.

  • @artzyfartzy68 yeah, they are a little off . Shes such a good musician she can kinda almost make it work.

  • great singer, awful backing music

  • It looks like that might actually be her real hair. I was born the year of this performance. Interesting.

  • I was glad when she went off on her own and let the magic work for her. The only instrument that should have been heard in this song is her magnificant voice. They failed to understand how great she was.

  • I'm sure my comment will be unpopular with some, but I never thought the Wagonmasters did a very good job at replicating the sound of Dolly's great hits from this era. On her RCA recordings, the session players (who themselves were legendary) created absolute magic, and it seems the Wagonmasters were incapable of reproducing that. (In this case the key change on the "New Orleans held things in store.." verse, which they don't include. Dolly's singing, of course is still perfect, tho

  • You are absolutely right. Porter's band tried to use his style of music on her songs. She was so far advanced it took time to realize that she was something very special and he should brought in musicians more suited to her style. Whoever was playing the steel guitar during this song should have been fired.

  • Buck Trent on the electric banjo got a little carried away on this version.

  • Dolly Parton has a gift that very few people in the world has the abality to tell a story a open a vision to the hearts and minds and souls of people its a gift that is very rare to have the world is not full of people Like Dolly Parton very few of them live with us on this earth.

  • I love Dolly!

  • Dolly is a living legend.

  • thats the truth

  • She's evolved and cheanged yet no matter what she looks like a true fan sees how amazing she is!

  • Only the really talented ppl can both SING and WRITE such great songs! And their in no one better than Dolly! Such a beautiful voice and personality and looks! Dolly has it ALL!

  • I am a kurdish student in USA and I should confess that country music is really amazing...

  • brittany spears ,madonna, chrstina agulria, and the rest of the girls ,shuut the hell up and take some notes off this vid about what looks good with talent to back it up

  • So very, very true!

  • I think I'm in love with young Dolly

  • I have been looking for this performance

  • One of my favorite songs Dolly wrote. Awesome! She is truly one of a kind!

  • My Idol!!

  • the american catherine deneuve!!!!!!

  • It really is amazing what she did as a 24 year old.. Plus all that she did after that, I can't imagine what was even in the realm of possibility for a "country-western" singer of that time.

  • Is that her REAL hair??

  • No one but her family and husband have seen her real hair so to speak. She always wears wigs. But hey - That's part of her charm!

  • Actually, we have ALL seen her real hair. She stated on an interview this year that her real hair is bleeched the same colour as her hair and threaded through. She usues her real hair in her fringe and on the sides. So in actual fact, we have all seen her 'real' hair.

Still, she is a effing legend!!

  • 4 real! O yea,I remember hearing about dat! I've actually heard dat she waz born blonde, but her hair got darken as she got older, but then she bleached it!

  • Yeah, her hair went dishwater blonde, so she started wearing wigs really young. Isn't the album of this the one that's supposed to have a picture of Carl (her husband) on the front? He's quite hot actually (was when he was young anyway). You can see on their wedding pic in Dolly's autobiography,

  • That Carl fellow ( her long time husband) is one man in the world that I am jealous of.

Wish we'd had this stuff on TV where i lived back then, i could have been a Dolly Parton, and C&W, fan for the last four decades instead of spending my youth watching that pratt Jagger.

  • Stop all this talk about her hair. I love Dolly for Dolly. That's why I shaved my head my head for my band's video of "Me and Little Andy".

Some people say I sing it as good as Dolly. Well, maybe. But I DO try to sing it with a lot of feeling.

  • she was born on 1/19/1946. so if this is from 1970, she is 24 years old. amazing

  • how old was she when she did this? She's still got the same ol' Dolly voice, but she looks a looot younger.

  • I love this song :)

  • OMG....I have been looking for this performance to go on here for ages. Thanks!
