Johnson plays it at 170bpm at the recording of 'Rock It Boogie' (recorded feb 1944. 3 min 3 sec) that I have got, and one can sense that even the mighty Pete Johnson has to give this left hand a thought now and then during the recording.
Johnnie Johnson uses a slightly similiar bass line in the middle of his video of "After Hours" in the key of G, (like this one you're teaching us in G too) on the tape he made for Homespuntapes.com. Takes a lot of dexterity and continual practicing to keep the left hand steady and secure while you do something with the right hand. That's the real challenge, getting the balance between the two hands.
