in comparasing with pahud or galway or rampal versions... come on... this is not so impresive. Personaly i don't like her mozart concertos so much as well. She has a very good technique but for me she is not expresive enough her sound is not big at all... It is just diferent tastes i guess!
wonder why she began the piece an octave up from how it was written, and then dropped back down again. I found that a little disjoined. But an excellent performance. That is an extremely challenging piece
@whitetr6 i know a lot of flute players bring it an octave up because it's too low to project well on the flute when performing with an orchestra, and i think to bring the next bit up an octave as well is too high for the piece to work. just my opinion.
maybe in comparison to the violin it's soft. but to project the lower register on the flute like that and still make it sound unbelievably clear, clean, and rich is just amazing.
Sharon is the best flutist in the world. She's my favorite and she is awesome.
Compare her to Galway: his vibrato is so heavy and exagerrated.
Her tone is so RICH and FULL! whereas other flutists have like a whispy-ness to their tone.
The flute is just naturally quiet and they would project it more in recordings. This concerto was originally written for violin so if you have heard violin recordings of this, yes. flute is softer. that doesn't mean she's bad.
I heard this girl LIVE.......OMG!!! what a small sound...u can not even hear her sound .......I think she is not that good ........ in recording sounds so diferent ....is so curious....
@lossulkys I heard her live as well...I must say she is one of the best of the best. You must of sit in a wrong place...cause I heard her on a pretty big concert hall with symphony orchestra, and I had no problem hearing her sound. And from what I've heard - fabulous.
Excellente flutiste mais morceau médiocre et tout à fait pas conçu pour la flute.
ça serait mieux de valoriser le répertoire originel à mon avis

Yep I can understand that. Good point. Thanks for your comment. Overall I think it's my very favorite piece in the flute repertoire.

@lossulkys
True musicians know real talent and considering sharon is the BEST, I doubt you listen to good music very often.
Put up a recording of yourself playing this. Then we'll compare and hear the musician that really is "not that good"

@jessflute18 umm... excuse you.
James Galway is the best flutist in the world. He's s my favorite and she is awesome.
Compare his movements to Sharon's. She is so jerky and exagerrated. "
He never said she WASN'T a good flutist. Don't be so defensive, and grow up.
