Check out, The Harbinger by Jonathan Cahn about Gods judgment against America on 911, 2008 Financial crash and coming judgments in 2012 and the end of America as we know it !!
The Star of David is just as it says in the Bible...and spectacular and only God could have produced it !! But this is not as important as the Hand of GOds Judgement that is falling on America now since 911. God hand of protection was lifted from America because we have turned from God.
Try watching Jupiter from Sept. 11, 3 BC to Dec. 25, 2 BC. There are nine criteria Jupiter has to fulfill to be what the Magi saw, which it only does in that time frame:
God and other spiritual entities don't have a gender, rather a living principle or nature. The male gender often gets applied to God nature due to the expansiveness of His expression which meets even those not so interested in relating to it. Yet it is noteable in scriptures that the nature of a Hen caring for her young is stated as being even a desired expression to his own. Jesus stated that this was God's desired way to for Jesus to relate to the Jewish people he came to draw close to God.
Lastly, this theory proves that the intellectual minds of this world always try to find scientific explanations for something that can not be explained by science. I've been a keen Astronomer ALL my life, and there is no way that the Biblical narrative is describing a conjunction of planets. Notice too, that the research that has given birth to this theory has lost the plot. Yes, Satan's plot, to try and kill the young Christ Child. Truth hurts sometimes, as it means doing away with traditions.
@coolyjojo If it was Satan who lured the Magi to Israel, then why did God wait until AFTER they'd arrived and presented their gifts to warn them not to go back to Herod? They were seeking to worship the King of the Jews. The JEWS! They were Babylonian for crying out loud, and they were servants of the Jewish God. Don't you think that if He'd just spoken up a little earlier, they wouldn't have made that trip at all, if that's what He wanted? It's clear to me that GOD drew the Magi, not Satan
@coolyjojo Please watch "the mystery of the star of bethlehem" and let me know what you think of the astronomy and validity of the astrological claims put forth. For ex: was there or was there not a blood moon in or around 33 ad? was Jupiter very close to Venus to resemble one star to a star-gazer in (or around) 2 or 3 bc?
Just 2 simple answers to 2 simple questions is all i'm looking for. It either happened - or it didn't.
ACCORDING TO the Gospel of Matthew, The Star was first seen by the Magi in the East. Then it vanished from sight. That's why they said to Herod that they had SEEN the Star in the East. After they were told to search for the Child, SUDDENLY, the Star re-appeared, to the joy and amazement of the Magi. It then led them to Jesus. This Star was supernatual, a kind of UFO if you like, sent by Satan who keeps transforming himself into an Angel of light.
@coolyjojo If god is within you, then satan is within you - the duality of earthly existance... These are metaphors to illuminate us, don't take it literally...
@coolyjojo It never vanished from site. And it didn't suddenly reappear. It went ahead of them as they traveled to Bethlehem. In other words, where before it had risen in the east like a main body star, it was now in the southern sky. They were overjoyed because the fact that the star stopped was confirmation to them that they were headed in the right direction. And the Bible never says it singled out one house. It simply stopped "over the place where the child was;" i.e. Bethlehem.
@coolyjojo Recent mathematically sound research reveals that the star of Bethlehem was a clockwork star. It was set in motion by God Himself, author of a great cosmic poem, on day four of creation. To quote Rick Larson, presenter of the Star of Bethlehem, "From the very moment God flung the universe into existence, He had to know the exact moment He would enter this world as a human child, and when He would die for my sins."
God speaks math. You deny math, you call God a liar.
NOT CONVINCED. I have studied and looked at all the different theories, from spaceship to conjunctions of planets, you name it. But there is one big problem with this theory. Blow me, if you can find a house with a Star. As an amateur Astromomer I can tell you quite categorically, that if you see a star overhead, and travel 10 miles in any direction, it will STILL be overhead. The bible says that THIS Star suddenly re-appeared to the Magi and led them to Jesus, STOPPING over his house.
@coolyjojo You're not an astronomer, then, if you think a star can't stop. All astronomers know what retrograde motion is. And all astronomers know that planets are stars, linguistically speaking.
And were does Matthew say that the star singled out a house? It merely says that the star "stopped over the place where the child was." Where was the child? South of Jerusalem in Bethlehem. Where was the star? South of Jerusalem over Bethlehem. Stopped. On Christmas, no less.
Such a Jupiter Saturn conjunction happens about every 80 years (though perhaps not a tight). Anyway One preceded the American Revolution about 30 years. One preceded the Civil War about 30 years and one prceded Hitler's mess about 30 years.
Interesting discussion...history records that 10 of the remaining 11 disciples died violent deaths for preaching that they had seen Jesus alive after the crucifixion. That's an extreme thing for not one, but TEN men to do, and individually, in different decades and nations. All they had to do to escape death was to renounce what they'd said and state that they'd made the whole thing up. But not one did.
Apologies for posting the same thing several times (and even then it didn't turn up under the post that I was replying too). YouTube has many fine features but Comments isn't one of them.
Google "Historicity of Jesus" and discard the authors who are known to be Christian apologists (which is an awful lot of them). The consensus view seems to be that Jesus was invented some time after his supposed death.
It seems the early Christians knew Jesus wasn't a real person anyway. They used him like we might use Pollyanna as an example of how to live. Later, people forgot he was a fictional character and made up all the miracle nonsense and lifted stuff from other popular mythologies.
wait. how is it that they are Christian apologists discount them from their hypothesis? it's now well agreed that everyone, including non apologists, approaches the text with agendas; therefore, you can't discount them outright. you gotta read them, weight their ideas, and then discount those ideas with your own.
also, what are you talking about? there is NO consensus view on the historical Jesus.
@hobbes344 They are generally over credulous (they _are_ Christians which kind of suggests they already made up their minds) & often state controversial information as fact eg Josephus, but read them too if you want to.
As an atheist, I never really doubted historical Jesus until recently, imagining him to be a hijacked Che Guevara type. My investigation of other peoples studies surprised me. I now feel confident that he didn't exist. Amongst rational scholars I felt the consensus was fairish.
but, don't you think that the very statement that you begin with, "as an atheist" colors your perspective of the historical jesus (or any matter, for that example). I am always VERY skeptical, esp. in historical studies, when the person that i am studying ends up looking like me. (or, in your example, as an atheist, as a person NOT existing at all...)
Also, I would say that the majority of scholarly discussion assumes the existence of Jesus as a historical figure...
@hobbes344 I was trying to say that even as an atheist I had no intent to doubt historical Jesus any more than Mohamed, Buddha or L. Ron Hubbard.
When I met the idea that early on he was used as a fictional model rather than a real person I didn't have any preferences either way. It may be even be easier to explain away the real person than the total fiction.
Scholarly discussion about historicity of Jesus _should_ assume nothing. Anyway, I encourage people to do their own sceptical research.
Ah, ok. I misunderstood you then. Apologies. I just happen to be a fan of John Meier, who I think does excellent work though he comes from a Catholic tradition. He is willing to sideline his faith and remain in the text and is very clear about the lines between historical research and faith.
Can someone source anything suggesting a date that Jesus was born, or anything to suggest he is anything outside of just a character.
It just annoys me when people think saying "scientists" or "basic history" is anything outside of dishonest wishful thinking. The last time I looked in a textbook on world history (I'm pretty sure it was "World History" published by McGraw-Hill) it stated that the only thing we know about Jesus are what is written about him after the texts claim he died.
@doogtoog Look up "Star of Bethlehem Pt 1" on YouTube. Jesus was most likely born on or around September 11, 3 BC. The Magi arrived on December 25, 2 BC. I won't say anymore, as I've given you enough spoilers. ;D
@LikeAPossum How many set themselves to rule in this world? How many said their kingdom was not of this world and only attained as a gift from a Father over them?
@LikeAPossum Ah, but how often is the myth mathematically confirmed, as it was by Rick Larson, among others? Even NASA agrees that what Larson found was accurate.
Christmas literally means "Christ's Mass because Jesus was born on dec.25 2009 years ago...the star of bethlehem is the star that appeared directly above Jesus when he was born...google it
Umm technically Jesus was born in March not December 25th. Basic history research tells us that Jesus was bron during the census which was carried out during the month of March. Christmas is only celebrated during December as a plan set forth by the early Catholic church to overshadow the Pagen celebration of the winter solstice.
Oh and also he wasnt born 2009 years ago either. Scientists now believe he was born in either 2 or 3bc based on the birthdate of john the baptist. Which would make jesus born 2012 or 2013 years ago.
@07BlackCobaltLS Actually, history doesn't tell us that Jesus was born at all. The gospels can't even agree on the year, let alone a month. Nice try though.
@07BlackCobaltLS umm technically if you listen to the whole lecture he talks about that -- the Magi's come to Jesus when he is a toddler, not a baby. You should probably listen to the series before trying to debunk it.
@07BlackCobaltLS Actually, if you take a look at the account of Luke, it tells us a very strong clue to the birth of John the Baptist as well as that of Jesus. Zechariah was of the eighth course of priests, called Abijah. He would have gone home to his wife at the 9th week of the Hebrew year. This would have been immediately after Pentecost, and John would have been born at the time of Passover. Jesus, who was conceived 6 months after John, would have been born at Tabernacles.
Chrismas is on dec. 25 because the ancient Romans wanted it to coincide with a yearly Pagan festival. Jesus could have been born on any date between 6 and 4 BC, we don't know for sure. The AD/BC system was only established decades after his death/resurrection.
Apparently Jesus was about 3 years old by the time the Magi came.
