Will you re-paint the Emperor Dalek Guard all black so its a supreme dalek from The Chase-Evil of the Daleks. Because the dalek is the Chase dalek only silver domelights. Its a good recomendation!

if people have know that the normal daleks from the dalek invasion of earth each had a white ring on the eye then how come no one has mentioned that the main part of the eye had been repainted?

I think the Evil of the Daleks, Dalek is slightly incorrect? I may be wrong but it looks like they have kept the Ping Pong ball lights from the dead planet daleks, which is wrong and i THINK they got the eye ball wrong too. but i may be wrong?

Of course you realise that the saucer pilot dalek was just a cover or the fact that they hadnt finished it, so its an accidental part of the story, in production terms its the same dalek, in story terms its 2 different daleks.

I have several thoughts on that...

1: It's in some private collector, and he's so hopeless sexless and bad with girls he touches the bits Katey leaned against it.

2: That useless bitch, Mary Whitehouse, in her constant battle against Doctor Who, had it incinerated.

3: Katey has it in her possession as her secret lover (Hey...that's better than hillbillies over here in the states bonking live stock).

@batmanmarch Having just done a little bit of research, the Day supreme, known as Dalek Seven Two because it was made out of parts from different Dalek. The top was made for The Chase and the skirt was an original Shawcraft one made for The Daleks. As of 2011 both halves are in private collections, the skirt being placed back with it's original shoulders, and the supreme's top paired with a 'goon' skirt made for Planet on the cheap. Both are now painted in the standard gunmetal grey.

@ticknokmonster Those are merely surviving clips from 'Fury from the Deep' and only episode two of 'Evil of the Daleks'. Both stories no longer survive in their entirety in the BBC archives, just like many other stories of that era. 'The Lost in Time' box set its only a compilation of the surviving material in one set.

Even when I watched "Dalek Invasion of Earth" as a child in 1964, it was blindingly obvious that the partially-painted Dalek Leader in ep.2 and the finished version in ep.3 were one and the same! I remember being slightly puzzled as to why it changed colour scheme between the two episodes, but as a trusting six-year old I just decided "Well, there must be some reason..."

on one of the special features for Genesis of the Daleks it says that the one that wasn't finished being painted from the dalek invasion of earth was actually a supreme dalek varient but the real reason was what you said and the other varient is the emperor guard you reviewed.

Like many stories from the Hartnell/Troughton era, they are lost or have been destroyed. This was because back in the day they never thought anyone would want to watch it again. Plus it helped free up space in their archives. The audio is available though.

@joesSONICBOOM I think 'The Wheel in Space' or 'Tomb of the Cybermen' - not sure was found in Japan a year ago. All episodes in excellent condition in English. The BBC thought they had been wiped and someone found them and gave them back. Blue Peter had a thing about 4 years ago where if you found a surviving episode, you could win a real, BBC production dalek. No one won.

CO should make them seperately available, they did it with Davros and The Supreme Dalek. And it would be easier for us who only want to get certain figures. I mostly just want Daleks from the 1960's and 1970's myself.

Interesting review I did wonder where that funny painted looking dalek went a few years later on a dr who program they said he was repainted.

I think the whole saucer pilot Dalek ordeal was probably retconned into being two different Daleks, I mean the supreme Dalek could of been on the ship to start with and killed the saucer pilot dalek off-screen, or perhaps the original supreme died and the saucer pilot was second-in-command and as such was promoted to supreme. there could be any number of explanations, plus canon doesn't really count the credits, I mean, the credits used to call the Doctor "Dr.Who" which isn't canon. Great review

thats a good idea, a Power of the Daleks dalek, i think it will probably be released in the next set, but if not, best make a custom to be sure of getting one of the daleks from that episode.

This is a cool set, a lot of people argued that the "Saucer Pilot" was in fact Silver and Red.

I like to think that Dalek was in charge of the saucer, the Supreme Dalek turns up, sees the revolution, shoots the Saucer Dalek for failure and then takes over. Ruthless but makes sense :D

You say the DEoE Dalek is the Dead Planet Dalek with the Supreme base on it, however the supreme base doesn't include the regular Dalek "base" (the black part on the Dead Planet Dalek), so is the "base" on the DEoE Dalek in two pieces or is it a new mould?

Yes, I am slightly pedantic, but my figure wont be here for weeks for me to check

What is also funny....I always felt that the Gold Dalek was the Dalek Prime I've heard so much of. And he looks like the leader of the Daleks....just a Dalek, but with a fancier casing. Ironic now that all the normal Daleks have HIS colors, almost. XD The new Daleks need a new set of colors.....not steal the Dalek Prime's or the Golden Emperor's colors.

Uh, very interesting, but really I'm not surprised either; If it wasn't painted, it wasn't painted, but idk why they couldn't of just left it silver & black.

Interesting but complicated explanation, I think they should do a dalek invasion of earth soldier, as I had to use my dead planet dalek instead in my recreation, I could always make a homeade dish for the back but meh can't b bovered.

An excellent review once again, Matthew. As is your Fourth Doctor Set video. I managed to pick up both sets in Forbidden Planet in Liverpool today. I was actually quite shocked at how shoddy a lot of the paint jobs are on many of the Dalek figures. And something else I noticed: the Day of the Daleks Gold Dalek is actually inaccurate, as the mesh should also be gold and not black as it is on the figure. Anyhow, these are still marvellous additions to the range.

Thanks Peter, they're nice sets but a bit pricey. My Destiny Dalek was a bit shoddy and the rings had not been placed properly and even the Gold one is a bit wonky. I never noticed the black mesh! My brother saw it and said that he thought it wasn't right but I just dismissed it. You'd have thought seeing as the whole thing is practically one colour they'd get it right!

I think the neck on the Destiny Dalek was done purposely like that, since the Daleks in that story were all a mess to begin with, I reembering seeing crooked and misaligned bits all over them. And don't forget the one with the shiny plastic sheet on its side. XD

what i dont understand is that on the classic daleks their heads rotate 360 degrees but on the classic episodes their heads could only move slightly to the left and right
