Secondly, some taxes are actually worth it, sweden has extremely high taxes, but their standard of living and health care is one of the best in the world, America is one of the worst (for a 1st world country).

Free healthcare is actually pretty good. I have had free healthcare my whole life and so has my family. I get doctor's appointments and medication free. My Dad has had surgery for free, and is on daily medication, doesn't pay a penny. I recently moved to Ireland where healthcare isn't free, and I can't even afford to go to the doctors if I'm ill here, never mind the 60euro medication on top of that. Yes, lists for surgery may get longer but you will get it.

Every health system is flawed, canadian health care isn't free, either, they raise tax, to pay for the increased social service costs, or you continue to pay for coverage and not get it.
Imagine it like this, every person puts 15-25% of their wage into a massive pot, (not just health care), the money gets split, into many things, and of that, every person gets their health care paid for, whether or not they could afford it, and are doing the same FOR YOU, its called, cooperation.

I live in Canada, I have had to go to the emergency room 3 times in my life once for gallstones, in which I didn't wait at all, twice for ulcer related stuff, I waited 8 hours. *8 HOURS. And there were people in there longer than me. My diabetic cousin has to wait and average of 3-6 months for treatments she needs. Don't model your health care plan after Canada, use Europe.
I've had to wait 8 hours for an emergency room visit here in the states. It was so I could get stitches which is a TIME SENSITIVE procedure for a huge gash I had.
The only difference was afterwards I got a bill over 1,000 bucks because my health care provider wasn't associated with the E.R. surgeon (as apparently many aren't.)
We can anecdotally go tit for tat but the reality is healthcare is a much more complex issue than that

Not necessarily. First off taxes don't have to be raised, and so far they haven't, obama has lowered taxes. Secondly, some taxes are actually worth it, sweden has extremely high taxes, but their standard of living and health care is one of the best in the world, America is one of the worst (for a 1st world country).

Free healthcare is actually pretty good. I have had free healthcare my whole life and so has my family. I get doctor's appointments and medication free. My Dad has had surgery for free, and is on daily medication, doesn't pay a penny. I recently moved to Ireland where healthcare isn't free, and I can't even afford to go to the doctors if I'm ill here, never mind the 60euro medication on top of that. Yes, lists for surgery may get longer but you will get it.

Well maybe not yours, but many Caucasian Americans' ancestors came to this land illegally, killed the Native Americans, and formed their own nation! Immigration is promoted as a means to solve global problems, poverty, corruption, overpopulation, but it merely shifts problems to the U.S. Global problems need to be solved where the people are. Politicians avoid the causes of global problems & increase U.S. problems when they say immigration must occur until the forces are eliminated.

How could that preponderance of home-grown Americans justify us being called a nation of immigrants?
Certainly many R descendants of immigrants as is everyone in the WORLD, but that is not the same thing as being an immigrant. And such a statement is no justification for continued mass immigration.

Last time the country tried to reform immigration, we did the amnesty first on the promise of enforcement to follow. This time He'll have to do the enforcement first ! @onstageagain No, I disagree totally with Arizona's racist immigration law because it gives law enforcement the power to stop any body in the streets that they may just suspect being here illegally and arrest them if they don't show them their ID and birth certificate and other papers to prove that they are here legally! But the problem is that they can and they have racially profiled Hispanic Americans who are here legally but did not have the proof on their person!

The problem with a purely capitalistic health care system is its purely for profit, and the insurance companies have made that very clear. a broken bone or minor surgery should cost tens of thousands.

Every health system is flawed, canadian health care isn't free, either, they raise tax, to pay for the increased social service costs, or you continue to pay for coverage and not get it.
Imagine it like this, every person puts 15-25% of their wage into a massive pot, (not just health care), the money gets split, into many things, and of that, every person gets their health care paid for, whether or not they could afford it, and are doing the same FOR YOU, its called, cooperation.

I live in Canada, I have had to go to the emergency room 3 times in my life once for gallstones, in which I didn't wait at all, twice for ulcer related stuff, I waited 8 hours. *8 HOURS. And there were people in there longer than me. My diabetic cousin has to wait and average of 3-6 months for treatments she needs. Don't model your health care plan after Canada, use Europe.

I've had to wait 8 hours for an emergency room visit here in the states. It was so I could get stitches which is a TIME SENSITIVE procedure for a huge gash I had.
The only difference was afterwards I got a bill over 1,000 bucks because my health care provider wasn't associated with the E.R. surgeon (as apparently many aren't.)
We can anecdotally go tit for tat but the reality is healthcare is a much more complex issue than that
