ok, so yes, they are stuff that appears in magazine. It still is "art" because you have to know what your clients will buy. He's making money because he gives the people that buy these types of photos, exactly what they want. That's smart...
His pictures of people are all the same.... A bit borring, and very sterile. A young woman, dressed up like a succesfull doctor, a pretty girl with a headset, etc.
@hutteritekelly Well, it's like all businesses. Supply what's sells the most… But I guess that’s what you mean – sick of people wanting to buy stale photos. :)
@datubeindacloset preciely, i admit, i too sell lots of photos, and the ones that sell the most, are never the most "artistic" ones, but the ones that convey the cleanest and clearest message.
This is EXACTLY what photography is. It's all about reproduction and mass production, ever since the negative. It's all about making the same thing over and over and over again.
@benny0K That is exactly what photography is? really? so I can take a wild guess and say that you don't know the first thing about photography, and I would be right, right?
I wouldn't say I know a considerable amount but I've been studying it for a few years now. The fact is that the medium is built around the idea that there can be multiple copies, which is why photography has had such a hard time in the art market. I don't believe there is anything to disagree with in my first comment, I was merely stating the nature of photography itself. It would be like laughing at a housing developer for not building skyscrapers, it's still architecture.
You sound like a jealous idiot with a chip on your shoulder.. Yuri has identified a market and captured it with great zest and ambition... I guess you probably still shoot film slides and think the industry can pay out of their noses for your work! Forget it pal, the days where Getty were buying up stock companies for millions are over... Microstock is the way forward so get over your obvious snobbish attitude.
I don't like his work. The studio and the photos look bland, streamlined, sterile and forced. The kind of pictures that appear in insurance companies' brochures. Which they probably do, so I guess that's fine.
That's what you need to do to sell the most in stock photography. If you don't shoot it that way you don't sell that much. He has more than 740000 sales in istock. (insurance companies, etc, buy their photos from stock photo websites)
he is supposed to have a European accent in english ( specifically a scandi accent with british influences) . Scandi accent is fine as far as I am concerned .Americans with their irish accent are not the reference when it comes to proper anglosaxon elocution and grammar constructions.I also laugh my arse off when I hear Filipinos emulate the texan twang, high pitched voices with outdated vernicular english are a very bad mix.and why is it that is on putting oil on those "R" anyway .
its jazzy soul buddy, you should check the instru versions of Guru Jazzmatazz's albums , you will be carried away. I like the fact that it doesn't distract from the main focus.photography.
wow Yuri! never realised that you had this kind of set up! you truely are the master of stock photography! and yet seem like such an easy to get on with guy. love the work and videos please keep it up.
Thanks for sharing a view of your awesome studio Yuri! I was wondering, what is your ceiling made up of? Is it glass or bright lights? Looks almost blown out in the video. Thanks!
Stock Photos have a sanitized, overly bleached kinda feel to them. None the less this is fun vid & good shots.
If I may, do some shoots where the models don't look at the camera. Shoot models looking left/right, etc
The viewer follows the models eyes, if the model is used on say a website and is looking off to the right, you can have some awesome copy / product there and users will be directed to it.
Maybe create an entire section / category on your site dedicated to it with an explanation :)

Well done Yuri, well done. I know it's not easy having a facility like that, it's not easy getting it, and it's not easy keeping it.
I wish you all the best.

I find that a bit prejudicial.
That's like bashing someone for trying to have a proper accent in English.
My opinion is that you can take whatever accent you find yourself most comfortable with and this shouldn't be limited by your georgraphical area.
