  • ok, so yes, they are stuff that appears in magazine. It still is "art" because you have to know what your clients will buy. He's making money because he gives the people that buy these types of photos, exactly what they want. That's smart...

  • His pictures of people are all the same.... A bit borring, and very sterile. A young woman, dressed up like a succesfull doctor, a pretty girl with a headset, etc.

  • Well done Yuri, well done. I know it's not easy having a facility like that, it's not easy getting it, and it's not easy keeping it.

I wish you all the best.

  • having black people as props is very important for photography.

  • That's a little bit bigger than my home "studio" :-D

  • Yuri,

Very nice facility, what kind of building are you in there? How's about a shot of the outside? Again amazing!

  • ..do you have any friends... other that the mirror?

  • is this guy a factory worker or a photographer? I cant tell

  • i like the studio...but i'm sick of the awfully stale stock photos i see as a result.....

  • @hutteritekelly Well, it's like all businesses. Supply what's sells the most… But I guess that’s what you mean – sick of people wanting to buy stale photos. :)

  • @datubeindacloset preciely, i admit, i too sell lots of photos, and the ones that sell the most, are never the most "artistic" ones, but the ones that convey the cleanest and clearest message.

  • Seriously I am impressed about your studio. I guess not even in 20 life time I could get all the things that you have. Wow!! Can I work for you?

  • This is an amazing studio! Keep up the good work.

    Ronders

  • I would sacrifice my left testicle for a studio that large and diverse. looks like a converted greenhouse.

  • @erics1959

It is a greenhouse. Located in Denmark

  • I hate advertising, its full of shit........Still we all need to make a living....!

  • Arcus is like McDonalds or KFC.

There are some great chefs and authentical cuisine in this world, and then there is tasteless shitty junkfood.

There are some great photographers in this world, and then there is Arcus...

  • this man sells lies for peanuts

  • omg who cleans that ?

  • Industrial photography is a bit boring, and not very creative, sorry :(

  • Sweet. Maybe someday I can have my own as well.

  • wow, its not a studio its a city

really amazing hope i can visit you one day

  • Boring & pointless...! This is not what Photography is about.

  • I guess all the magazines that rely on stock photography are inclined to disagree. *eyeroll*

  • This is EXACTLY what photography is. It's all about reproduction and mass production, ever since the negative. It's all about making the same thing over and over and over again.

  • @benny0K That is exactly what photography is? really? so I can take a wild guess and say that you don't know the first thing about photography, and I would be right, right?

  • @alecsey001

I wouldn't say I know a considerable amount but I've been studying it for a few years now. The fact is that the medium is built around the idea that there can be multiple copies, which is why photography has had such a hard time in the art market. I don't believe there is anything to disagree with in my first comment, I was merely stating the nature of photography itself. It would be like laughing at a housing developer for not building skyscrapers, it's still architecture.

  • @Igotbadjoints not really. I'm not into stock photography myself, but I wouldn't say it isn't what photography is about.

  • this is wrong in so may ways.... i am gonna go puke

  • Wow!.

I only would like to know who is your benchmark Yuri?.

It is very impressive what you got there. Congrats.

  • Now that's what i call an investment.

    Awesome vid bro

  • Wow, that's some big ass studio.

  • EEEeeeaaaannd Uhhh...

  • EEEeeeaaaaAAaaannnd Uhh.....

  • Thanks Yuri Arcurs for destroy The Market of photostock and destroy one profession

There is a difference between sell and undersell...

You have the same value of your Image 0,20$

  • You sound like a jealous idiot with a chip on your shoulder.. Yuri has identified a market and captured it with great zest and ambition... I guess you probably still shoot film slides and think the industry can pay out of their noses for your work! Forget it pal, the days where Getty were buying up stock companies for millions are over... Microstock is the way forward so get over your obvious snobbish attitude.

  • @sharpen77

There is only so much 1 man can do.

  • Supper! Very nice work! Clean, big and Pro.

  • I love this man, he really is my idol. I started shooting stock photos, because I was inspired by him. Thank you!

  • Thank you for all the videos

  • honesly it looks like the sets wouldnt be good like the kitchen but when you see the photos they are amazing

  • wow...

  • it's really good ...

but i dont like how he was takin and throwin all the stuff back...

and i dont like how it's too white

  • nobody gives a shit about what you dont like

  • I don't like his work. The studio and the photos look bland, streamlined, sterile and forced. The kind of pictures that appear in insurance companies' brochures. Which they probably do, so I guess that's fine.

  • That's what you need to do to sell the most in stock photography. If you don't shoot it that way you don't sell that much. He has more than 740000 sales in istock. (insurance companies, etc, buy their photos from stock photo websites)

  • @Superphilipp That;s the whole point. He works for stocks only. He doesn't do any art. And he earns something like $1000000 per year..

  • that studio looks like a mid size shopping center.

Yuri please, please drop the fake American accent it grates my nerves aarrgh !!!!!

  • Fake American?

So anyone not born in the USA is supposed to have a strong foreign accent or something?

  • he is supposed to have a European accent in english ( specifically a scandi accent with british influences) . Scandi accent is fine as far as I am concerned .Americans with their irish accent are not the reference when it comes to proper anglosaxon elocution and grammar constructions.I also laugh my arse off when I hear Filipinos emulate the texan twang, high pitched voices with outdated vernicular english are a very bad mix.and why is it that is on putting oil on those "R" anyway .

  • I find that a bit prejudicial.

That's like bashing someone for trying to have a proper accent in English.

My opinion is that you can take whatever accent you find yourself most comfortable with and this shouldn't be limited by your georgraphical area.

  • How can he work is such a studio sooo small... =)

  • I think it is big ^^

  • amazing, breathtaking

  • dude i love the audio to this track. it's so chill and jazzy with a touch of sophistication.

  • its jazzy soul buddy, you should check the instru versions of Guru Jazzmatazz's albums , you will be carried away. I like the fact that it doesn't distract from the main focus.photography.

  • thanks i'll go check him out. and ditto to the fact that it doesn't distract from the dialogue.

  • it's like heaven.

  • wow Yuri! never realised that you had this kind of set up! you truely are the master of stock photography! and yet seem like such an easy to get on with guy. love the work and videos please keep it up.

ps who do you idolise as a photographer?

  • omg! you have such an amazing studio!

  • Oooooooo! so jealous!

  • damn your studio have many stuff

  • im thinking of starting a cult and am just wondering about numbers. who's interested?

  • fake things on photo are like very real. awsome

  • really nice shirt ! where do you got that from ?

    really nice vid :D

  • Holy cow Yuri. This is awesome!

    (SammyC)

  • Thnx for this short intro to your studio! Very nice to look at!

  • Thanks for sharing a view of your awesome studio Yuri! I was wondering, what is your ceiling made up of? Is it glass or bright lights? Looks almost blown out in the video. Thanks!

  • AFAIK Yuri has his studio in what used to be a large greenhouse, so yes - it's glass all around. :)

  • Stock Photos have a sanitized, overly bleached kinda feel to them. None the less this is fun vid & good shots.

If I may, do some shoots where the models don't look at the camera. Shoot models looking left/right, etc

The viewer follows the models eyes, if the model is used on say a website and is looking off to the right, you can have some awesome copy / product there and users will be directed to it.

Maybe create an entire section / category on your site dedicated to it with an explanation :)

  • This is great!!!!

  • Great video Yuri, I'd have never guessed there'd be so many seperate areas in a studio.

  • Much better vid exposure Yuri - great GREAT stuff!!!! I want it.
