I had it a few weeks ago in Florida. I was about to go horseback riding, but while standing next to the horse I felt lightheaded and passed out. So my mom took me to a doctor.
i got that after having some blood taken. after it i was just like umm i'm fine now. they gave me oxygen. luckily i was able to say i feel like i'm gonna pass out just before so a couple of the people at the doctors office helped me to the floor. hehe it was pretty interesting. i did nothing on this in order did it? haha.
cut my thumb open yesterday. i've done it worse with a stanley knife before and nothing happened. but yesterday i didn't feel any pain whatsoever, but everything slowed right down, i couldn't speak or balance and i was sweating quite a lot. it felt like i was on ecstacy pretty much. i've never had problems seeing blood before :s
I usually get lightheaded, dizzy, weak, and nauseus while i am playing basketball, so i decided to go to a heart doctor to figure out what was going on. He diognosed me with vasovagal syndrom and he gave me a pill called fludrocortisone to take to help retain the fluids i have in my body, and it stopped my attacks! If your attacks are caused during exertion of energy i thing you might waqnt to discuss this with your doctor.
I wish the public was more informed of this issue. Reading the responses I can tell that many are harboring this painful secret. I'm a tall, muscular, strapping guy and I've hidden this problem all my life. Mine stems from anxiety issues related to severe abuse when I was a toddler. I've fainted in public a few times and people really make a scene, laughing at me and staring. I won't tell them why it was triggered, so they usually accuse me of being on drugs. I just make a quick exit..
@TVWriterGuy yeah It is hardly known, which is a shame.. I've got it too sadly and my mates think its one massive joke, especially when I get a syncope just from the sight of blood... It's not exactly "Manly" to faint whilst watching "Fight Club"...
@DJignyte I understand, believe me. I have been surprised at the unprofessional reactions of some medical "professionals" as well, especially lab workers. If a medical worker ever denies your request to lie down during blood work, do not comply and remain in a seated position; you could be seriously injured if a faint comes on.
i've had fainting spells since i was about 5 years old but the doctors had no idea what it was until i was finally diagnosed with syncope and syncopal seizures in december of '09
i've had episode for the 7th time since i was 14 now im 34. there was one instance that i woke up with my face in the toilet bowl. another one was a standing meeting at work. trigger factors are usually caused by stress, lack of sleep, dehydration, standing up for a long time.
Ive had this since i was 7. Im now 22. But its been happening so often lately that I've developed severe anxiety. I dont even wana leave me house. Anyone else feel this way? How do you deal with it?
I can have them if i get over stressed, dehydrated, anxious, or overly worried. What i do is I lay in the bed if im about to have one and focus on my breathing. I try to calm down. Also if it gets bad, elevate your feet. This will make your blood go back to your head. When you have an episode your body passes out, causing the blood to rush your feet. Elevating your feet can sometimes stop it. Just try and calm down if your about to have one and DO NOT STAND UP!!!! You can fall and hit your head!
I turned 30 in March and I can remember having this from 6th grade onward. Sometimes, I would be taking a shower while getting ready for school and I'd suddenly feel weak, nauseous, light-headed, and really hot. I'd just jump out the shower all wet and soapy and lay on the floor till the symptoms subsided. LOL. I still get it when I'm sick or in pain, dehydrated or really stressed.
Mine has gotten worse. Their not letting me drive. The docs now saying i dont just pass out. they say i have a type of seizure. :/ their saying i may have cyclic vomit syndrome. But just remember...just take it day by day. If your new to having these 'episodes' itll be scary. Just make sure you DO NOT STAND if your about to have one. PLease done because you can fall out and hit something. Trust me, i have quite a few times. They will get easier to handle over time. Just have faith. Good luck :)
it's vasel vagel and it isn't funny it has happened to me four times. On the first of this month I got my two front teeth chipped off becaue I felt like I was going to faint, sat down, then for some reason stood up and walked to the kitchen then fell right on my face! It's very scary and awful.
This happened to me a few days ago in the shower, only the glass door shattered and I got covered in glass.

@TVWriterGuy Yeah, I'm not going to risk hitting my head on something because of an ill-informed medical "Professional"
Luckily for me, where I live the nurses do all the simple medical jobs like taking blood samples, and they are always kind.
