There is a deep division in society: Between those who want to work and enjoy the fruits of their labor & abide by & uphold the Constitution, and an increasing number of what has become fashionable to call the "disaffected", the "disadvantaged", the "differently motivated". What we used to call lazy people, dishonest people, people who do not want to take responsibility for their actions or their lives.
We are not a nation of social workers, or eco cranks but a great and proud nation.
I think what you guys are doing is brilliant. I am currently finishing my degree in environmental conservation and countryside management, and i have just a year left. As soon as i finish my degree, i will be looking to join in with this!!!
If you are playing by the rules in one of the neighbouring apartments - You will have worked hard to pay the more than £1200 rates and nearly £1M to purchase there. Where is the justice in freeloading?
What about the rights of the local hard working rate payers not to have their way of life disrupted by desirables?
I will celebrate when you leave and that day is sooner than you might think!
@PHILIPCMPHILIP - Where does all your hate come from. Just because you choose to live your life a certain way (which you as a person have that right to do, not just your human right, but also your natural right), these people choose to live their life this way. And your ignorance blinds you to what these people are doing, they believe in what they are doing and i certainly do. wether you like it or not, one day sustainability is going to have to be the be all and end all. overpopulation !!
.... Real sustainable - with out all the things they're claiming they don't need, they wouldn't have what they have... Being 'donated' something isn't sustainable, or a possibility for everyone like Mr Upper Class Tim But Tim suggests.
This is excellent to see happening in England, following other countries like Brazil (do a vid search for "Landless Workers Movement in Brazil"); this is striking at the root of corporate exploitation, we should all have the Right to live on the Earth sustainably (go veganic!) and self/community-sufficiently without being forced to sell ourselves in order to get money in order to pay others for the resources of Earth that belong to all of humanity, and all other life.
Nice Film! Glad you lot survived this dreadful winter! I was wondering about you all! I must take a Trip down and see you all again! Would be fun! Muchloveflipperxx

Of course, the floor in their argument is that they live off the back of an industrialized society! They don't work and get all their materials for free. If they really wanted to live truly off their own backs, they would head off to the rainforests of SE Asia and live their. These people are shallow self-righteous frauds in my opinion.
@GodalonethroughQuran no you are wrong! The most of the people at the so called eco village are from middle class backgrounds and have their own homes to go back to. Also many of them smoke and tobbacco farming is one of the biggest destroyers of the rainforest and of third world countries.
No, this is exactly what I am saying. They are, in my opinion, lazy middle class layabouts looking for any excuse to justify their slothfulness. It is that hypocrisy and pretentiousness that annoys me intensely (dressed up as eco-living, saving the planet etc.).
@GodalonethroughQuran If you think it's easy to grow your own food, heat your own house, and depend on nothing but yourself, a day at work behind a counter or computer must seem like a walk in the park for you!
its easy to sit a write things on the internet. come down to Kew Bridge and meet us have a cuppa and i'm sure your negative pre conceptions will be dissolved by the warmth and generosity you will experience. I take your negativity and send it back to you as love. get off the net and get more natural sunlight it will help you

Muslims are also supposed to be friends of the planet. It is so easy to critisize people who stand for something isnt it

They don't stand for anything decent.

Nice work Eco Villagers :) I, and many people I know have learned much from you already.
In my opinion the Kew Eco Village is a wonderful example of how to live in a sustainable co-operative community.

Most of the people there though are a bunch of self righteous, arrogant middle class university graduates who think they know it all.
