  • Very nice Colin!

  • @mwestmo Still one of my favs. =)

  • My favorite song of that Album beautifully done !!! how many strings have you snapped tuning up that top C?? :)

  • @MartinGuitarLover1 It's been awhile....but I don't think I snapped any.I haven't play this one since I recorded it though.

  • Nice Hat.

  • That's a killer rendition of one of my favorites. If someone played that for me and said it was Bela I would've believed them. I've been using some of your vids to work on learning some Bela stuff, thanks a ton for posting them. It's very helpful. I grabbed a tab for Reverie at the BHO since it doesn't seem to be available in any of the Bela tab books, but I was wondering if you know any good spots for tracking down tabs. Thanks again!

  • @crcohensf Thanks for watching and for your comments! No, I don't know where to find tab for most of his stuff. I just have to make my own.

  • @flecktonesrock I bet tabbing them out yourself probably makes it easier to memorize the songs. FYI Bubbles is one of my favorites, I'm going to try out your instructional vids for that one after I've learned Reverie.

  • Can I get this song on iTunes?

  • @GatewayImage I'm sure Bela's version is on iTunes. I could send you the audio file to this if you want.

  • Very nice... One of my Favortie Fleck tunes..

  • @htrn100 Thanks for watching!

  • The tuning Bela uses for Reverie is cCEGC, which is Reuben tuning tuned down a whole step.

  • Very professional video!

  • Nice!!

  • Man I love this song. Melody is so simple yet so perfect. Great job!

  • @SeanUNT Thanks Sean! Glad to see you around

  • Great as usual. Hope you don't mind some banjo set-up questions.

I see that you use the stock Deering head. Do you know whether it's made by Remo or Ludwig?

How tight do you tighten it? If you tune the head to a note, what would that be?

You already answered about the make of bridge. How tall is it?

Finally - what's your action at 12th and 22nd frets (from 1st string to top of fret -if you know)?

Thanks in advance for sharing, if you can.

    Ken

  • @kpnorkin I'm not sure who makes the head. I think scruggs said tighten the head until it breaks, then tighten it some more. =) The typical answer would be G. I don't have a micrometer, but my action would be considered "medium high" by most standards.

  • @flecktonesrock Thanks. I think your reply is both refreshing and surprising. Refreshing that someone who plays so well and clearly devotes a lot of time and effort to working on material and tone does not need to be a gearhead about banjo setup! Surprising because from your photography videos I assumed you'd be into banjo measurement. Great that you're not. Sometimes you just gotta go with the sound and feel. I like it. My head: tight, between G# & A. Action measured with 6-inch rule. Low.

  • Great, we love it.

  • Nice work as usual Colin! Looking forward to your next nature video. All the best.

  • Amazing as usual Colin. Hey what kind of bridge are you using on that deering?

  • @jtyner6 It's a Samson, if I remember correctly.

  • you know these videos make my day when they come out, I love them, huge bela fan, and you just are incredible. Thank you so much for all the days you have made better by a few minutes of video.

  • @ibanezcollector Thanks for the very kind comment, Mr Ibanez.

  • When's you and Austin's next trip?!

  • @GatewayImage We had a great trip at the end of March. Austin is busy pursuing a career as a nature videographer and is doing the editing from that footage. Hopefully he"ll have something for us soon. We got some great underwater gator footage with the GoPro!

  • fun; thanks for posting. creative perspective from the gopro

  • So relaxing, last youtube video before going to bed, thanks !

  • Awesome! This is one of my favorite songs to hear Bela play!
