not bad. Should follow-through tho rather than stopping after impact and turning back -- more power and set up for repeated kicks rather than landing unbalanced as in this vid. Good explanation, should mention also how the turn is driving from the hips as well (which can be seen in this video)
@sinewalker Fair point - I was focusing more on the kick rather than the follow up - but agreed, a follow through is more powerful and usually more control unless you add techniques afterwards.
Also good addition re hips producing turn and power - all real power comes from technique driven by body control and manipulation rather than muscle power, which only enhances such technique. Too often I see very strong men using bad techniques - the result is strong, but could be 10x more with technique
The flat of the foot in this case which is easier for the viewer to see, but there is a choice of ball of foot or the heel (dwitchuk in korean) for maximum impact
@krank308 (uploader) lol, that would be me. I have trained a variety of martial arts including Ninjitsu, Shaolin Sanshou Kung Fu and Tae Kwon-Do. I'm a 3rd Dan in the latter which this video is based on and have trained for around 16 years.
Great stuff, the best is to have a good balance between hands and legs...
with kicks, forget power and 'effort' to begin with, they are only needed last once technique is achieved.
Best way to think of generating good technique is direction. your leg needs to be travelling in the direction of the target, rather than swinging up towards it as you see many people kick
think of stamping the floor - your leg travels in one direction. rotate that up and sidewards to practice. good luck

@railfanman to me i dont really care, if i do the kick on the ball or heel and its effective. what does it matter?
Magyar126 1 year ago
@Magyar126 yeah, you're right. I suppose its just a matter of style. I do hapkido and we strictly use the heel,.

You'd get owned if you do this move too much.

@wuwieeee er, yea... it has to be included in a random set of movements and sparring, but very effective when you're not expecting it ;)

lol the balled guy who was doing the kicking looked liked a little pussy, but fuck I bet he could do damage in a fight. What martial art does he do?
