  • Absolutely resolute and yet down to earth.

  • big up to you maggie

  • "She looked to me like she'd stepped straight out of 'The Sound of Music'." - god, that's genius!!!

  • Wow, Helmut Schmidt - one of the greatest German Chancellors in history!!

  • She was dreadful looking but oh what a leader!

  • Very self-aggrandising argument she comes out with to justify the settlement with the Community there, trying to take credit for the fact that Lord Carrington had to sort out a dreadful mess she'd made. I think everyone's had a boss at work like that - taking credit for when you've had to tidy up their mess

  • Carrington and Gilmour agreed to brief the press that it was her triumph - a compromise, funny enough, designed to avoid them resigning or her resigning. It wasn't her taking credit, as such. I like Gilmour's "had we been bailoiffs come to take away the furniture we would have been more cordially received"!

  • Those two what?

  • She was probably referring to two articles in the editorial. But it turned into an unwitting double entendre because page 3 in the Sun newspaper shows topless women.
