  • Lol rules on this song! Anyway, all Cure drummers made their best at THEIR time,

Lol, Andy, Boris and Jason fitted the sound of the Cure's current episodes. I don't like Jason's sound, but remember: He has to step in the shoes of THREE sounds AND has to be at Robert's mercy! Three dots...

  • Smith is thinking... Son of a bitch, am I still going to be singing this when I'm fifty? And now in 2010/2011 he's thinking... seventy?

  • Change is precisely what punk was partly about. It was concerned with moving forward. Progression. If The Cure still sounded like they did in 1979 to 1983, they'd sound stuck and somewhat pointless now. No different to the UK Subs or some no-brain punk band plodding on with a tired and redundant sound. Fact is, The Cure played around with their sound and ideas from the beginning. It was healthy and way ahead of these times of post-irony and chin-scratching bullshit.

  • still give me the kicks every time i hear this song...still remember the 12" and the cassette tape...and i still have the records...

  • i LOVE THIS SONG <333

  • It would be soooo amazingly perfect to see the cure playing in the Milky Way(Amsterdam) ,, i wish i was born 35 years earlier!

  • Gallup rules

  • Nicholas Miles is a fat faggot ... the Cure would anally defile him but he'd like it.

  • Amsterdam's Milky Way!

  • i wish everything would come to a Grinding Halt!!

  • It already is because of all this bad weather!

  • The best of The Cure. New wave at its best

    thanks!!!!!!

  • cureeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  • Great club! great gigs went there...

  • roberto lovee yo,,,i was looking for this tune for such a long time, tnx ROBOTORB

  • AWESOMEEEEE +++ Best Album Boys Don+t Cry. + THE CURE+ ORIGINAL SOUND+

  • sooo amazing!!!

  • They were, and ARE, a true 'punk' band. They do what the fuck they want and without any care for anybody else, plus they're honest. They are not U2. they still have that independent spirit blazing away. Fair play to them!

  • I like how you remind us that they are punk. Glad you didn't call them a goth band.

  • @1965raj they have changed too many times, they are robert smith's opinion and a select few, they should rename the band

  • remember after hearing 3 Imaginary Boys for the first time that I'd found the way out of the cul de sac that punk had by then become. for that i'll be eternally grateful.

  • wow.

  • no stimulant´s, passion for compassion, eneldo tea

  • Is this Simon or Michael playing the bass?

  • It is Simon...

  • has that early punk sound ...for ex this song reminds me of johnny hit and run pauline..good sound for sure

  • way cool. thanks so much for sharing this. i truly love their early stuff. sure would love to have an old boys dont cry shirt. the one with the fridge, lamp, and vacuum.

  • I hear this song when I was a child (8), this is the song who make me a THE CURE FAN!!!!

  • Lol is better than jason cooper

  • Oh yes. Much. Boris was the best, then Lol, then Andy. It makes me sad to see Jason trying to play the early Cure songs, because he just can't. And a band is only as good as its drummer.

  • "a band is only as good as its drummer" VERY VERY TRUE!

that´s why now the cure is a mediocre band and they sound like a cover band of themselves.

  • Yeah, it all went downhill after Wish. I mean, they still have the potential to be as great a band as they were in the 80s, but really, in order to do that, they need a better drummer. I wish Boris had never quit!!

  • "they sound like a cover band of themselves." WOW I've been looking for a way to describe my dissatisfaction with their recent sound and you fucking NAILED it!!!!! They really need to get rid of Jason he sucks.

  • I agree, lad

  • Not the most original thought is it?

They need to call it a day just to piss off their idiot 'fans'.

  • @ciararozzas anyone is or can eventually be.

  • wow, thnx for sharing this .

  • my final exam on my digital video class is gonna be making a video for this song..

    any ideas??

    8)

  • between 12 and 29 are the seventeen seconds=)=)=)=)

  • great quality between :12 and :26.

  • no way. this was a cure song from the start. they own this tune!

  • whoa when did they start i believe 1973 when rob was 13-14

  • i think they were 17 when they first started...

  • cool time back then!

  • Does anyone know where I can get this whole gig on DVD? non mp4?

    thanks in advance.

  • Ah, yes it is Simon. Simon actually played bass on the Cult Hero tracks, while ol' Michael was STILL in the band. He saw the writing on the wall.

  • Yes - it is Simon. Dempsey left and Simon joined after the album 3IB, and they were still performing this stuff as they went into the studio to do 17 Sec's... and Gallup was there.

  • the bass player is michael dempsey in 1979. simon gallup comes in from the record "17seconds"

  • That's right, but nevertheless it's Gallup in this video : Face, hair, Fender Bass ..

  • yup, it's Simon. He joined in late '79 after Dempsey quit. Seventeen seconds was just his first Cure CD.

  • @emma199512 - LOL! If you believe "17 Seconds" was originally released as a CD instead of 12-inch 33 rpm vinyl, I have CDs to sell you with REAL ORIGINAL AUTOGRAPHS by Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Hank Williams and Elvis Presley. :)

  • un tema the the cure (L)

  • Wait is that Simon Gallup in 1979?

  • yes, that was great. On fire.

  • brilliant! :D
