Hahaha wow they're actually dancing. Now at concerts, people just cheer to where you cant really here the person performing, or the just pull out their iPhones and record -____-
Rob is certainly doing an awfully lot of swallowing to be lip syncing. And I'm sure they probably did enjoy themselves after their perfomance. Hugh Hefner had then there many times. Why is everyone so critical? I've been a fan of theirs for 40t years and I adore them. Thanks again for posting this video, Rhonda
Love The Grass Roots! I've been a fan for 40t years. It's always nice to see another one of their videos posted even if there are 10 others just like it. They all have a different perspective. Thanks so much for posting this, Rhonda
I LOVE THE GRASS ROOTS!! The BEST pop group EVER!!! I have everyone of their singles (7" RPMs), I love when everyone just, jumps up on cue & start dancing & of course the only black guy, is the best dancer! PS I like the comment from "oOMadhuriOo" "Rob Grill used to look so hot', well, we can't stay pretty forever, he's in his 60's now. Creed was cute looking too & now look at him. What can you do, they are still AMAZING! Peace Gary in PA USA.
they were very popular here in the Philipines in the year 1968 & 69, especially the song 'midnight confession' but my favorite is 'bella linda' i was high school at that time, and full of dreams and fantastic imagination
Wow, Rob Grill used to look so hot ... and I love the song ... The Grass Roots were brilliant. I have never heard abt them before, just found the midnight confessions video by chance on youtube and fell in love with their music. I have asked my dad if he remembers whether the band was very successful he said the name rings a bell but he cudnt remember any specific song. Well, they werent too popular in germany but for me they are my heroes :p ...
But they were only popular in the US. Nowhere else. Big mistake by their managers and by the group itself. Rob Grill once said that they were offered to tour abroad but they refuse because the dollar signs were not big enough. Bad luck. I don't know what went wrong with their promotion but it's like they have never existed. There are hardly videos, just a few pictures and NO information on them at all... For that the group holds a record their legacy is really poor.
@oOMadhuriOo OMG!!! The GrassRoots were the SHIT!!!
I was born in 64 and ALL of my best memories seem to always have had their music playing in the background!!!! There are SO MANY MORE SONGS YOU NEED TO DISCOVER OF THEIRS!!!!
@oOMadhuriOo The Grass Roots were a HIT MACHINE from the late 60's through the early 70's... immensely popular ! My band covered these 2 tunes of theirs . I saw them live & they were a fantastic performance. They were at the top of the heap during that period of Top 40 radio, for sure.

This rocked at the Hef Mansion in the 70's. You can see Hef in the video and even Barbee Benton. She made an early porno but Hef quickly pulled it. Bella Linda is one of my favorites,...has a certain French/Italian mode with the English rock behind it.
the dork is old faggot face hugh hefner. this is from playboy after dark tv show. bunch of old farts with lots of money tryng to score some tail. there is a great canned heat performance from this show. the grassroots rule
Love this group...they came to Mt. Hood Community College(Gresham, Oregon) in 1969 to do a concert...poorly advertised...about 400 people showed up...so what did they do?? They threw a "sock hop"....did about 90 minutes and it was awesome!!!
That dancer was Byron Gilliam. He was a regular on this show and also performed at times. He was also regular on the first season of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in.
He was a professional dancer and probably the best free style dancer that ever lived. He also choreographed dances from the Banana Split show.
love the silver face state of the art gear for that time ...as a recording artist..i would like to record a song like bella linds superp feel good trance melody.
