fuck waiting for nasa and their stupid will, would, later, future etc. procrastinations. For universal sakes, the chances of going back into space after we die is even far greater than nasa sending a damn man with a HD color video cam to record real time mars footage for the public, let alone real time space footage period. How hard can it be to capture the moon and mars in high quality video/audio? We talk about space exploration yet I can't even see a simple stroll on mars soil. Pathetic.
"We are an exploring species." That's great, but we are also a financially strapped species for the foreseeable future. Is there ANY way to monetize these trips outside of plastering spaceships with Pepsi logos and having crew memebers do product placement? I think you all totally missed the boat on space tourism (missed the boat... get it? OK....). I think a high-orbit inflatable space hotel and a BIG lunar vacation base located near a water source and PEL could create significant revenue.
Mother says I musnt cry when I take a big dumb because it isn't macho but I feel say because it felt like giving birf and I just flushed my child in the toilet.
Just grow up both of you. By having that argument you're both showing how stupid people can be. I always considered space exploration to be a uniting cause for humanity but so many comments on these videos are just abuse and hatred.
I've just investigated the 'commercialisation of space tourism', if anyone is interesting in reading the final report id be more than happy to send it through via email
There is lots of interesting stuff going on in space, from planet finding to cosmological research. But what also interests me is the new work in rocket science from the private sector. Check out videos of Jeff Greason, for one, particularly his Tedx video (Ted Talks is about positive contributions of all sorts currently under way). I don't morn the end of the Space Shuttle program after learning how much had to be compromised in it. Onward we go.
Does NASA really think that America could afford to do all this on its own, or are all the American flags, etc. in this video just propaganda to try to get the American public enthused about spaceflight again?
@Joydivision456 - Well, at least I know how to use proper grammar/punctuation/spelling!
Your comment should have read "You dumb? Yup, you're dumb." (Even then it's not perfect, but closer to ok.)
Trying to attack my intelligence because you have no valid counter-argument is clearly desperate; but showing yourself to be unintelligent in the process? That's just HILARIOUS! XD
@MrDavidHarrison hahahaha ur a straight up grade A faggot, i never even watched the video you just seemed like a retard so I pointed it out and now ur dumb to think i give a fuck what you think lol. do you want to have a conversation?
@Joydivision456 - Well, you're right about the Grade A part; I just got back my marks from my first year of university, I got 89%. I think that's a 3.56 GPA in the North American system... Definitely a 1st in the British system. Or a Distinction. Whatever way you name it, I had the top grade in my class...
So, yeah; you were saying about me being "dumb", and "retarded"? B-)
@MrDavidHarrison lol and I aced my pipefitting degree you want a cookie? its the internet and ur having a big dick contest with me ur dumber than i thought
@Joydivision456 - Oh, I see... You're like one of those NPCs in a roll-playing game, the kind that only have enough in-built intelligence to speak three or four lines of dialogue before they loop back around again...
i agree it lacks info, and focus; I'm feeling that our public affairs office shouldn't put things like this out, since in not explaining anything it gives the continued impression we're just a rudderless money sink. Any messages of this type needs to be more focused, more communicative, more 'educational'; leaving people with just a tad bit more understanding at the end of it than they had at the beginning. This one doesn't pass that test.
First off they need to get rid of the chemical based rockets which do no good and create some new form of propulsion. It's only been around 50 years...
It's good to see that administrators at NASA have a vision for the future of human space flight. Now, if only congress would stop trying to design rockets and let the NASA engineers figure out the best way to get out of LEO. Required solid rocket boosters? Give me a break!
Also, contact your house representatives. NASA uses Pu-238 to power it's deep space probes. The stockpile from the 70s is running out, and Congress is refusing to fund new production of the element.
"We are doing things, and they might work in a few years. Maybe." Wow! This is so much better than actually having a shuttle! I am definitely looking forward to NOT going to space for the next few decades! In the 1970s, mankind had the concorde and the Apollo program. In 2011, we have A 380s (which still don't reach Mach 1) and no more shuttles. Progress?
Did you know, that just air conditioning the military bases in Afganistan and Iraq costs more than NASA’s entire budget? We could have been harvesting corn on Mars right now, if we had used better all that money from spent in war in middle-east :(
Sooo... NASA folks... what's with the substandard 3D artwork? Please go back to using Frassanito and Associates so our space program doesn't look like first year CG artists built it.
yet you konw that the illumnati want us all dead your helping them! and you think we will make it to space flight? all you belive in is war and killing civlines and if your wondering why i cant spell for shit its because your goverment is filling me with shit to dumb me down!!!
NASA is now reduced to showing the canceled Constellation Altair lunar lander as part of its"Future of Human Spaceflight"
It's so sad to see this once great space organization slip further into chaos as it ceeds leadership to the Russians and Chinese. Only a change in the White House away from the current anti human spaceflight direction can revitalize this extraordinary agency.
I love advertisement as much as the next man, but this video lacks some clear information. It's mainly a whole lot of "could" and "would". I am personally rather displeased with the fact that there isn't a successor to the space shuttle ready and available for use in the near future (I mean in a couple years top). The idea of flexible platforms for space exploration is very interesting, but it's really just a buzz word. We could already have the means to explore further than LEO and the moon.
@abadubie This is a good change. The introduction of commercial space flight is the future.Bigelow Aerospace will complete its space station in 2015,Spacex is on track on building the worlds most powerful rocket,SpacePort America will be sending tourist in to space in 2013,Dream Chaser shuttle will start testing in 2012 and other space vehicles will be ready before 2015 that would cost way less than one built at NASA.Space flight is turning into what commercial airliner companies are to day.
@Gretanjugen I agree that commercial space flight will bring faster developments than NASA and ESA have in the past couple decades, but I can't help but feel sad at this development, as space exploration should be an endeavor undertaken but all of us as a species, rather than by some selected few out to make a profit. Not that I am against people making a profit out of space, mind. It's just that profit should be a consequence, rather than the driving force
@Bovaz85 I see your point but new space companies also dream of space flight.NASA is owned by the government and our taxes fund the projects.Commercial space flight is not owned by the government and there for can't be funded by taxes.Richard Branson dreamed of going to space since he was a boy, so he started his own company to bring people that experience. There are many space companies that put their dreams first and profit second.
@Bovaz85 Some of these private companies are doing it out of a genuine will to explore expand. Take Elon Musk/SpaceX for example - he may be making a profit, but to him it's really just a means to an end, he wants humans to go to mars.
@Drensworth@Gretanjugen The problem, if we want to call it that, is that a private company needs to make a profit out of space exploration, while a public body can put immediate economic return on a lower level of importance. I am all for the private sector giving us all a boost off our planet, but I fear things are turning out in such a way that their entrepreneurship will be the only attempts at exploration, in a field where cooperation is still needed before competition.
@TheN3croman It was but has been replaced with the Space Launch System, a development program for a new heavy lift vehicle. Also the CCDEV program is well along the way for commercial transports to LEO. SpaceX, Boeing, Blue Origin and Sierra Nevada all have hats in that ring.
We must accept conversely that we never would have gotten to the moon without the rocketry advancement of war efforts. The greatest enemy of space exploration is ineffective leadership though, not war.
The next president needs to lead NASA aggressively. This and the last administrations have woefully failed in that regard. We only spend half a penny of federal discretionary spending on NASA. This is shamefully small given what it gives back long term.
@hackneysaregreat That's a brilliant quote and that message needs to be spread throughout the human race if we want to truly explore space as a species.
@hackneysaregreat just think logic there is no war will be if mars be our second home because we are living together and all the people on the same place not like on the earth we are living separate from a thousand years ago and not together (Different country). I hope that we will live together even we are from different country and we will be in the same place and search for something new. :D
@snoopyloopy That's the reason why I haven't watched TV for 5 years. I guess my expectations were too high since it's a NASA channel and they usually have a different information level.
