E46 started in 1999. Production dates might read late 1998 but it was the 1999 model. The 1998 BMW 3 series was the E36 not E46. This car is a pre face lift E46 which means its year range is from 1999 to 2001.

This is a 1999-2001 model ... the 2001-2005 the ront corner lights were curved up , in a stupid asian kind of way ! I should know cos I own one ... and he owns me ! : )

actually filipemal is right this is the pre facelift e46 3 series, which runs from 1998 - 2002 , and there s a facelift in 2002 in the last part of the year which runs up until 2005. :) the easyeast way to tell is by the front lights which are curbed down on the prefacelift :)

It is either a '98 or '99 based upon the fact that those were the only two years that the U.S.-spec E46 sedan offered the 15-inch rims fitted to the test car. Then again, why is this such a big deal?

deffenatly not 01-05 but 99-00, its the early e46...

I work for BMW and they are correct this car does run up unitl 2001, However then the car was givin a facelift (Which im guessing you guys are reffering to?, The Model is still a E46, So technically its the same E46 Model up until 2005, Then the design and Model changed to E90 from 2005 =)

yup, ur right =] . i own a e46 2004 and it has the face lift and couple of things are different, like the ights in the back and the hood etc.

ok it there is a 1997 - 2000 model , 2001 - 2005 model and 2006 - Present model and as qutoted by EuroNcap this is a registered 2001 model which runs till the 2005 model

It's actually a fine result - no serious impact to the passenger cabin. Try the same test on a GM or Ford vehicle lol.

thats right, its the 1999-2001 version, it has the first E46 front indicator lights.

The wheel didn't disappear it is right there . The only reason you are not seeing it is that the hubcap (clip on rim) came off so all you see is the tyre and black rim but the wheel is still there it didn't go anywhere

At precicely 00:15 I can see the brake rotor and outer hub bent sideways directly toward the camera, the wheel is gone.
