What he says at the very beginning is what Plato believed: he said that there were two worlds: the world of the ideas and the world of the senses. The world of the senses is where we live and where everything that we can see, hear, touch, taste and smell is. Plato believed that the things that exist in our world are only reflections of the ideas that are firstly formed in the world of the ideas and that whoever gets a little glimpse of that world has reached the highest virtue. John did it...
The way he jumbles words and is stammering just proves that the thoughts and amazing possibilities being created in his mind simultaneously are too advanced for a human body to translate into comprehend-able speech. In other words, he's a fucking genius
lol" its not because jimi hendrix looked the way he looked, its not because jimi hendrix danced the way he danced or or because his name was FUCKIN jimi hendrix...there is his picture! thats him! " lol i started to crack the fuck up...but he is right of course...hollywood man, and specialy the media and the people who get brainwashed by it...so sad...at least there is some people like frusciante who get the real picture...
This interview is a gift to the universe. Everything he says about creating is right on, exact truth. Everyone who wants to create should listen to this as much as possible. He is such a gift to us!!!!
So I have a question, and maybe some of you can help me out if you have any insight: what john is saying is that anyone can create music if they are in tune enough with their emotions to translate those feelings into music. So then how do you get there? He says that he hears music all the time in his head and that it's just a matter of working it out on his guitar. I hear music all the time but its other peoples music, not my own. Is it just a matter of trying, and trying again? Any advice?
@magikalsound If you are struggling to get other peoples music out of your head, you can meditate to help keep your mind clear, you must have at some point heard your own music in your head, not neccessarely a whole song, but just maybe a riff, or a drum beat, or made up musical sounds or a line of a song, don't try and force it, just let it come in. Learn an instrument until it becomes a part of you and has a direct line to your soul, you will eventually discover how music flows though you.
@magikalsound do you practice an instrument? if you don't, i suggest you do, and learn music theory too. you will naturally hear melodies in your head all the time if you are practicing, daily. so yes, trying again and again is key. daily practice =)
@magikalsound He was saying that the music you hear in your head that you call "other's music", is the whole point....a musical idea is not any one person's. People don't own ideas, they only receive and interpret the ideas, or the "music", that they hear.
This concept extends way past music. All ideas come from the same place, music or other. Like bridgetgidget said, expressing what you hear IS a matter of practice. But more importantly, it's learning to receive the ideas.
@magikalsound Ive been playing, practicing, creating, learning, studying and everything for 11 years now and still to this day ive been gradually getting better and better, just keep doing it all and keep creating..it naturally gets better....p.s ...your best music comes from your subconscious if you know some musical language
he talks like my grandpa... and that guy is far away from being "down to earth"
John inspires me in ways that don't even have to do with me playing guitar, sure he's had a fucked up past with drugs (so does Milo Jr. my grandpa') but they just found such a way to from from their mistakes and just become loving human beings that I personally learn from.
Ps. really if you could see the way my grandpa speaks and what he speaks about would amaze you.
@vomitilias of course they are, why else would so many people do them....but just be a little careful with which drugs you use and if you have any predisposed genetic conditions.
@mcm1345 Science is based on observation which is how we learn what things are doing. So how I understand it is that, we are all observing things happening through our senses, but we can't get under that layer to know WHY those things happen in a way that is scientifically reasoned. A simple way of thinking about it is that science is a record of observations made and written down. Things our mind cant write or communicate verbally, cant be observed through the ways of science. ---> part 2
@mcm1345 it simply means that by observation, scientists have been able to explain what is happening, but they don't fully understand why it is happening. like when you fall in love. you understand what is happening, you are falling in love. but you can't explain fully why you have developed chemistry with this particular person, it seems to just happen. or when someone is telepathic...you can understand what is happening, they are telepathic. but you can't explain why they have that ability =)
@mike987987987 wow i thought i was the only ! , that's great use the power of quantum physics to channel John and keep him in our sub-consciousness forLife, i love this man
i remember when this vid only had like 2000 view, i"m glad to see its growing.Truly he is a master off his craft. A beautiful soul witch emits love, creativity, spirituality, honesty, and passion along with much much more, i'm extremely happy we live in a world with John Frusciante after all "it could be so many other ways"
@mynmyself even if it was a joint, which isn't really a drug to be concerned with, who cares? He probably does smoke weed, but he's been off the bad stuff for a while now.
@rsohlich1 ex heroin addicts cant smoke weed... is a way too big luxury... is not a rule, but alcohol and even the lightest drugs (although weed is not even that) can be very negative to an exaddicts psichology... i dont know until what point someone how was totally dependant on a drug is able of coping the idea of being high, or drunk...
And I love the fact that this is one of the longest interviews on youtube (thought 90% is stuttering and thinking) but yet stilllll has 0 dislikes lol, I love Frusciante fans and i'm proud to be on :)
Most intelligent musician ever... peroid... But you can deeef tell he was a druggy cause he talks so fast since the thousand thoughts in his head are waiting to get out but he hesitates alot because there's so much info and he doesn't know how to properly say it.
Someone should edit the audio, cut off the stuttering parts and make it a 4:20 video of pure genius. I bet that the stuttering is about 98% of this video.
From 5:42, It's like he's expressing things he's said in his music. "All of the fucked things you do, are the product of what's happened to you." That's a real artist.
his genius works through him to convey the nuture of genius itself :) ive had a very different life to him, but at this point, everything he says resonates with my understanding of reality. alot of people take drugs and push the boundaries, but few have the purity, humility and curiosity to let the experience expand their worldview in this way. god bless him :)
John just gives me so much hope. I know he may never see this, but every time I watch interviews with him he makes me feel like he is talking to me directly and in universal way let's us all know things are beautiful and it will all be ok. Thank you so much for posting this video.

@MagdaS@MagdaS sure. I will type out the entire thing for you, or at least as much as I can. I actually wanted to do it anyways, because his words of wisdom blow my mind, and point out how flawed my thinking is often times. He is such an inspiration, my admiration and love for him knows no bounds.
Thank you so much for posting this! When I first saw The Heart Is a Drum Machine I knew that there had to be more John interview and I'm so glad that now I'm able to hear more of his thoughts. I am only 10 minutes into the video so far, and I think that John Frusciante is a musical genius. He is a strange character, but if you listen to him in a strange way John Frusciante makes a lot of sense.
i remember when this video had 27 views. haha. now look at it! 100 likes, 0 dislikes. and 4,880 views! thank you for uploading this! and wtf people... john doesnt smoke the cronic. he's smoking a damn cigarette. and he never says anything about smoking weed in this interview.
I liked the idea that every moment given is a chance to communicate with God,force of creativity, force of nature or whatever you call it this higher force.
His perspective on life, time and our relationship to it is so unique and endlessly fascinating to me. I'm so used to the polished, boring media images we're fed and to see and hear someone who is so in tune with themselves and honest about it is a nice wake up! I'm coming back in my next life as one of his cats.
I'm totally into his filosophy and completely resonate with it. What a great video. Very meaningful and useful to me. I love losing myself completely!! in his style of playing the guitar. Pure Elevation to the next vibratory dimension of Love, Compassion and Oneness.
I'm gonna buy this , i was so upset when i found the original was removed and then somehow i found your channel from the original poster's channel. Cool and thanks!
@MarkHimley i haven't seen the doc yet, i thought it was due to come out this march...have you seen the movie? i want to buy it!! i didn't want to name this video or tag it b/c a friend of mine had this video posted (it got a ton of views in one day) and youtube deleted it over copyrite crap. and i wonder: who's making money off of showing the interview on youtube? i mean, it made me want to buy the movie. these word of great wisdom should be available for all!!! so inspiring!!!
@bridgetgidget72 yea i have it! it's been out for awhile now actually;) this interview is soo deep. the thing that hit me the hardest the first time was about time perception and animals, it makes soo much sense. John is amazing, and so wise. I love him dearly.
@MarkHimley i saw the movie today!!! and then i went onto amazon and bought it new for $10!!!!!!!!!! lol.....i wonder if it will have a bonus disk with all of the full length interviews??? i didn't say so. anyways, YES i am so happy to have this j fru interview available...i think it is so important!!!
@bridgetgidget72 ohh nice!! and no, it's all on one disk:) just go to bonus features or something, i don't remember exactly what it's called, but you'll see it:)

I am only 10 minutes into the video so far, and I think that John Frusciante is a musical genius. He is a strange character, but if you listen to him in a strange way John Frusciante makes a lot of sense.
