  • dude, you have the calmest voice haha you ever think about being a teacher or something? or like a talk show host or something lol and yeah best way to launch is just normally taking off or burning the clutch up. no lift shifts will also improve times by a few tenths but its hard on the car.

  • Comment removed

  • definately can shave a few more tenths with a higher launch rpm and just burn the clutch. You want to pull the clutch out to the point where slight wheel spin is achieved with about 3/4 throttle and then slowly push the clutch it back in to get your traction. You keep this balance until you're at about 2/3- 3/4 of the way through the gear then you can mash the throttle and shift right before or as you nick the redline.

  • dam 28 mpg even with the short gearing :)

  • Haha, you have a corvette, you dont have to launch. :D If you press a little on the gas and you are in 120mph :D

  • Cant frickn do a decent 0-60 mph on my C6 ZO6. Always get a 5+ secs. Cant seem to do a decent launch. Needs practice.....

  • @hahs22

You've got to consider that in this video the car was making 350 rwhp, your at 430 so even with the wider tires its going to be tricky. Start with an easy take off and increase agressiveness until your getting the times you want or excessive wheel spin.

  • @SinisterC6 Thanks man, hahah... My problem was bogging the engine down, I prolly wasnt giving enough gas and releasing the clutch too fast, and my traction control was on. I was able to improve tho, was able to do a 4.44 secs 0-60mph.

  • @hahs22

nice keep trying, I usually use competition mode

  • DDang kids shouldn't be playing in the street

  • 0:46 i think you just ran over a little kid dawg.

  • @thekidofmany, your right I should be making how to read tutorials because you didn't seem to catch that this was a c6 and NOT a Z06...

  • so your telling me how to launch when u ran a 4.23 0-60 and covette c6 run it in 3.6...

  • 225 after that run. How you supposed to survive track day. Running hard for hours on end.

  • @secion8 i agree, it was running even hotter after my supercharger, i cut some plastic to seal the opening, upgraded to a 25row external oil cooler, 2 row radiator, 160* stat and a bunch of other goodies to tear the track up this summer

  • let's just say I look like hell boy.

  • let's just say I look like hell boy

  • how much bigger is your right arm than left arm? (corvette gear box joke) lol

  • i think its funny how settle this guy sounds then her just romps on it

  • you riding the shit out that car

  • use the new launch control and you can floor it all you want

  • @LEGITxBOSS

thats on 2010s and above tho

  • @SinisterC6 its called get a WOT launch box with 2 step......... then you can floor it the whole time even while shifting gears

  • @CUZC0M

i like the way you think, its supercharged now so this could also help build boost off the line, and also help tear the drivetrain apart giving me an excuse to upgrade

  • @CUZC0M

i like the way you think, im supercharged now so it could def come in handy to build boost off the line and help massacre my drivetrain giving me a reason to upgrade

  • awesome disclaimer!

    computers #FTW !!

    ;) hehe

  • lol... chevy fails at making good looking interiors :)

  • @richieasian

i agree it probably could be better but having got the car new for 40k and competing with cars twice the cost im not complaining, if it makes you feel better i repainted all my interior pieces to black

  • @richieasian dude i totally fucking agree about the interior lol

  • or you could just give it gas and let out on the clutch in perfect sinc at once and make it look/sound beautiful

  • How old are you? dude

  • you must press the gas at launch, and get it to the floor right to the end. this kind change-gears, where you release the gas pedal while you press the clutch, is a reflex of the normal-drive. to get the best times on acceleration, don`t release the gas pedal, press gear very hard, and make an ultra-fast kick with the left foot to the clutch (not a rapid-press: a kick).

  • Stopped when he said "minusing."

  • Hey man, how does this G-tech device work?? I don't think we have this where I live but it is awesome. I would be grateful if you could explain to me how does it work and where did you get it from..I can order it I guess.

  • @ssj02

it has an accelerometer that detects motion, im not sure how it knows where a quarter mile ends tho, they make an ap for the iphone/ touch that is basically the same thing

  • @SinisterC6 it works by tracking your speed until you reach the 1/4 mile, any kind of accelerometer used in this way is very very inaccurate..

  • @ssj02 its an accelerometer basicly theres an app like it on iphone. big contreversy some ppl say g techs better and others say the opposite. ummm gtechs like 150 if i remember the apps 13 bucks so its whatever

  • Thanks for the advice. Very helpful.

  • este video es para los pendejos que no saben correr, gracias!!! pongan mucha atencion en el tacometro y aprendan

  • .82 g's is almost as good as AWD cars. nice video!

  • Has anyone tried the Kumho Ecsta KU36s?

  • Nice tutorial, this is how I launch mine as well. Otherwise, like you said, you'll just break 'em loose. This car could really do with wider tires, but I suppose that's why they finally addressed that with the GS. I'll be getting some new wheels and rubber soon for my Z51 and maybe, just maybe I'll be able to achieve times that are faster than manufacturer advertised?

  • sweet i recommend toyo r888s, i just bought a set and am waiting till summer to mount

  • its a loving beastttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I LOVE ITTTTTT

  • I am still confused because if holding the button down turns off the whole system what about when I push the button once(without holding it down) and it says "traction control and active handling off". Wouldn't that be the same thing as turning the whole system off?

  • I have question that maybe you can answer. I have an 06 corvette and when I push the button for turning off the traction control and active handling it has 4 modes: traction control and active handling on, traction control and active handling off, competition mode, and if I hold the button down for a few seconds it says traction control off. I thought competition mode turned off traction control and left active handling on. What's the difference between competition mode and traction control off?

  • When you hold the button you shut down the entire system, there will be no assist at all no matter what happens, in competition mode (my favorite) there is no traction control (you can do burnouts all day) and the active handling takes a chill pill and lets you slide about 15 degrees from straight before activating to regain control, it is perfect for road racing and spirited driving on the street as it wont kick in so hard and gives you the ability to drift slightly before engaging.

  • you can get a nice launch control system for your Vet in the form of a set of Drag Radials. heatum up slightly and they grip like mad.

  • for sure, im waiting for my stock rears to wear out then slap on a set of 18in toyo r888s

  • i love american muscle...the sound is intoxicating

  • is the launch control off?

  • @jt500lp my car is an 07, the 09+ models have launch control, i turned my vehicle stability to "competition mode" which turns off traction control but leaves active handling on a more lenient setting. AH prevents the car from fishtailing, normally AH prevents any sort of drift with competition mode it allows you to skid out about 20 degrees

  • but quattros got almost endless grip, there you can start off with high rpm :D

  • awd is a huge advantage, but i can still out launch the stock stis/ evos. i need some work before taking on their gt35r cousins

  • Good driving and nice vid! I can definitely believe in out launching sti's, but an evo's accleration is insane when launched (given at higher rpm's)! Either your'e getting lucky or you're damn good when it comes to those evos :P

  • the problem with the evo is its shorter gearing low mid range power and torque, i tire kicked one and it makes good power but from 5.5k to redline, the rest of the time you feel the lag from the 2.0 trying to spool up the motor. there are a few modded evos id like to run around my town, will try to get it on video

  • Nice video man, and I noticed the typical youtube car arguments on your comments wall lol.

  • without a doubt man, everyones an expert

  • Yeah tell me about it, I posted a race with my friend racing his civic against another friend in a 350Z and I have all the hater shit talker comments on them, most have no clue what the hell they are talking about lol.

  • is that a z06?

  • its a c6 coupe with the z51 suspension package

  • less you wanna replace the clutch

  • LOL maybe if you are retarded, you wanna do what this guy says and rev it until you feel the clutch catch, then pin it and drop the clutch... there will be no hard tire spin and he wont fuck anything up

  • Bad idea.

You wanna know why it'll smell like burning clutch? That's cause it is burning clutch.

  • @shukiikuhs

swapped clutches when i had my sc installed, no signs of wear and 16 k miles of abuse like this,,,, thanks for playing tho

  • @shukiikuhs um.. foreign concept to you maybe, but when you KNOW HOW TO DRIVE, .. the engage is DONE by the time any REAL power is put to the wheels... the engage should be less than one second. no burnt clutch, no burnt rubber. Go back to your honda

  • @7piecesofdeath Yes, because you know exactly what kind of car I drive. Stop making a fool of yourself, launching a car at high rpm is probably the stupidest thing you could ever do behind shifting without the clutch. Any car with real power will not only burn the hell out of the clutch while its matching engine/tranny speeds, but will also spin the tires uncontrollably. Sinister, I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to mx4ever619's post, which is now marked at spam.

  • @shukiikuhs could of been smoother shifts

  • no not really. more like your tires spinning for the whole way LOL

  • Thanks for sharing your technique. Make sure you keep both hands on the wheel and leave just before shifting particularly in the higher speed ranges. You ever get squirrely on the big end? You'll be glad you had 2 hands for control.

  • maybe thats why ive been running bad 1/8's..i made a 0 to 60 vid recently which you can see and i did the advertised. but i never studied why..now that i think about it its because i launched soft as hell.

  • dam thats a nice simple awesome launch

  • very nice! this how a vette is SUPPOSED to be driven, people!

  • thanks alot man, I am getting a 02 stick vette and I am wondering about all these things. thank you again!

  • your doing it wrong you lifted your right foot, leave it pinned, stab that clutch and shift faster :)

  • thats called pwer shifting, i addressed this in the video and why it didnt work for me that day...

  • I am razzing you a bit, I am sure you know how to do it. I did it with my 91 c4 and ran 12.0s with the setup that my car had. I just glossed your video. What is the best ET you have had with your car and what if any mods have been done

  • if you check out my other videos i made one showing the bolt ons i installed: lt headers, straight pipes, electric cutouts, ram air intake and a dyno tune to go from 360 to 400rwhp, on the same gtech im doing 11.8 quarters at 122, the gtechs trap higher so im expecting a 120 trap when i go to the track, im also measuring to see how big of a rear tire i can squeeze in, im thinking 335 toyo r888s on a pair of widened front rims i bought

  • the bigger the rear tire the more energy it takes to spin the tire(slower mph) ,You really should not trust what the g-tech says what your quarter mile e.t. and mph is, go to your local track and get video proof for credibility

  • great video man, helped me out lots!

  • You're vette sounds fantastic. Nice shifting and good job.

  • Hey, how about clutch-less shift? Not many car drivers do that, wondering why. What's your opinion for that for your C6? Would that make it slower? I ride a Ninja, and I do clutch-less shift for drag race. I recently bought SC w/ 5sp, so I'm just wondering.

  • hey man, ive neevr heard of a clutchless shift, honestly id be kind of scared to try something like that on my car, right now with my BPU im at the limit of my tires so those are getting upgraded

  • clutch-less shift is pretty easy, and is harmless as long as you do it right. Can be done with any cars(I've done it with my bud's Mazda). At higher RPM, you release the gas pedal at the same time(this has to be almost exact moment), you slide the shift to next gear, then press gas. Time integral of all that is definitely less than 1/4sec. There won't be any grinding noise, gears will pop right in smooth. By doing this, it doesn't seem to lose any rag-time from shifting by pressing clutch...

  • Its called floating the gears........ That;s how we shift 18 wheelers.

  • all new cars come with synchro's. so youd be fine. jsut rev match. you can even clutchless downshift if you blip the throttle.

  • just tried it, im just as fast with the clutch, but thanks anything in the name of speed is worth trying

  • you sound like a douche bag, what a fag. ever heard of et streets???bitch

  • id like to see you say that to my face instead of behind a key board dip shit... also if you heard of et streets you would know they only come in 17 inch sizes... my car was 100% stock during this video... i would be sub 4s 0-60 at a low 12 on drag radials but this video is to show what you can do stock with some skill...

  • and your 38.... grow the fuck up man

  • laford, you just got owned son HAHAHA

  • Thanks, won't help me since I'm too young to even drive yet, but I'll try to remember this for the future ;)

  • a good rule to follow when watching this kinda stuff is only perform this when safe to do so, and ONLY in a performance car. way too many kids try to max out their mom's toyota when it is not equipped with proper brakes at all. have fun though with a good fast car!

  • totally agree here, i was out at 6am on a sunday to ensure no traffic at my private closed course...

  • LMFAO!! yeah your "private closed course" that makes you wait for traffic lol. Anyways good video man. Car sounds nice as hell and video was help from what i saw and could hear lol. props.

  • this vid is awsome. most vettes, cobra's,an vipers lose races cuz they cant take off right. they usually rev hi an pop the clutch so there spining like crazy. looks cool but your not going as fast as u think lol. spining isnt winning!!!!

  • that is so true, im going to try this again with some new mods and see how much of a difference they make

  • yeah for sure im going to subscribe. im going to try this if i get my cobra soon lol

  • i can start off and shift faster in my cavalier! lol

  • im working on the powershifting technique, basically the C6's rear end is easy to break if you wheel hop and if i shift to fast ill wheel hop, im buying new tires to fix this tho

  • Comment removed

  • hmm, was it because im not bouncing the rev limiter spinning my wheels for 100 ft, or is it because im showing people a technique that works for me to get off the line fast...

  • Thanks man this was very usefull. i couldnt seem to get the sweet spot for my vette

  • how fast are you going in 1st gear, 2nd gear?.....

  • My car has the z51 option with a MZ6 tranny so my top speeds are

    1st 50

    2nd 70

    3rd 100

    4th 155

5th (theoretically 200, the computer limits the car to the advertised top speed of 186 due to the y rating on the tires) without the limit you could probably go 190 stock

6th 250ish (3250rpm at 125) but the car doesnt have nearly enough power to push that steep of a gear at those speeds (you would need like 1000hp i think)

    a non z51 is 55, 75, 110 (i think) with 4-6 being the same

  • i don't like the fact of 4th being so tall

  • i hear you, but with more power i guess it will come in handy for traction

  • whats ur opinion on trans am and camaros. i know they have the same motor but is there any other pros and cons?

  • I think theyre great, the 4th gen F bodies have an LS1 which was the standard motor in the 97-2004 corvette. theyre great cars that can be had for cheap and can be modded to around 500rwhp for 10k, that also have a solid rear which is better for drag racing

  • dude trans am's are sweet im hoping to et one later on in life

  • Nice video man, lauching a vette is not a easy task! tires break lose to easily

  • nice shifting man

  • thx man and nice vette btw

  • also i wish i could get a vette theyre so sweet

  • well good luck bro, thats great that you can drive a stick at your age, youll be all set when you get your licence

  • i mean ive had some drives in my dads stick around a parking lot but i mean like on the streets where i can let my moms 87 porsche loose

  • i wish i was old enough to drive a car...

  • im sure you dont have that long, find a neighbor or a friends older brother to give you rides, i drove my moms car around my block when i was 14

  • poor clutch and synchros : P. Nice vid

  • poor tires you mean right, its getting a workout

  • Yes very very nice video. Sadly I don't really want to spend money on the gtech pro now because of that malinformation of the horsepower reading. Great video though and very nice soft drivetrain friendly launch.

  • i mean its a good unit but if you want to know your HP you should go to a dyno, what i use the gtech's hp is good for is to see %gains from mods, i gained about 12% on the gtech that i also saw a similar 12% gain on the dyno. this summer i think ill have r compound tires and will be able to cut sub 4 0-60 runs

  • Awesome tutorial ecept when the engine is roaring I can't hear what you're saying. Lol. I raced a 350z with my Trans Am last week and lost cause I smoked my tires. I'm used to driing 4 cylinders.

  • lol yea i should have though about that, at least your enjoying your car, i remember my 4cyl days revving to 3k then dropping the clutch, when i did that in my vette i just stood still "well that didnt work" i thought. thanks for the comment

  • dude wat year is your trans am? those are hot ass cars..bout the only thing pontiac has done right lol

  • Its a 2002. Yeah that and the GTO old school. Lol.

  • yea agreed lol

  • o, and i forgot, excellent video (:

  • thanks! you were kinda right, pre 1972 manufacturers would rate a motor with no accessories, now manufactures measure net hp (gross - parasitic loss due to ps, ac, water pumps and alternator). dynos measure rwhp, there are mustang dynos and dynojets that use 2 diff methods, mustangs read 10% lower (simulates wind resistance by increasing friction on the rollers).`the gtech uses physics calculations knowing accel and time and weight to spit back power.

  • you could have 1000hp but if you roast the tires and do a 5 second 0-60 the gtech will think you only have 340 or so. i do like it as a a comparator, after my mods i went from 308 to 330 hp, about a 10% increase which agrees with the 10% i saw on the dyno

  • yeah i never thought about wheel spin also, i plan on getting a stick on my next car. i have 2002 camaro ss that's an auto, my dad made me get it because he said i would hate a stick and it would become a pain in the ass(my first car) lol. hopefully i'll get a standard 2010 camaro when they come out, i want a stick because i love the twisty stuff. an auto upshifts and that gets gay :P and even though the 6spd auto has a sport mode, there's still a efficiency loss

  • thats awesome! theylook great,im hearing a mid march release

  • to 380 hp at the real wheels(i'm guessing it's an LS2). let me know if that's why horsepower numbers are so low

  • ok, i've heard of gross horsepower which is at the flywheel(what car companies used before 1972, american at least), rear wheel horsepower, but i swear net horse power is from the driveshaft(used from 1972 to the present). i think the reason it's calculating your horsepower so low is there must be a weight setting that isn't right on your device. that amount of speed is possible with that amount of horsepower, just in a way lighter car, but yes, you're right, your corvette should put like 360

  • damn that cars fast

  • THIS IS SHITE!

  • pardon my ignorance but what are you trying to say?

  • It's curious because Rick Mears recommends to start releasing the clutch at 2,500 rpm on the 1992 owner's tape, I'll have to try both ways then.

  • yea it honestly depends on traction and conditions, warmer ambient temps allow for more grip

  • okay..

  • Your Supra is just a straight line car with extra 1000 Hp, that's not a race car and not even a sport car... Dumbass...

  • my supra will rape your corvette "matty712712" ...very nice car though....the car sounds sweet...

  • thanks bro, i put on some bolt ons last spring. message me some info on your supra, ive always liked those

  • sure i'll use common SENSE

  • ???? considering most people spin the tires on a launch i wouldnt think so

  • actually, you know, you sound pretty sexy...i bet you know how to show a girl a good time.

  • ive gotten some good reviews i might just have to show you

  • sweet

  • my corvette will eat all over you!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet, id love to run you

  • I like to see a video of how your car runs.

  • Cool vid!

    gotta love the C6 vetts!

Those Gtech things don't read worth crap....

  • good video

  • I was replying to caution29 but thanks!

  • all takrn care of

  • *taken* Well anyways I respect your ambition towards everyone not disrespecting each other, because of the cars they drive in your profile. I just hate that and I think people like that should just shut the fuck up.Your launch tutorial is bitchen. =] helpful Thanks!

  • right, i might drive american cars but im a car enthusiast, theyre all cool, some are faster than others and others look better, the people with bad attitudes ruin it, i got flipped off by a newer mustang, seriously why? i was hoping to get next to him at a light to ask what mufflers he was running, sounded good. check out my other vids

  • those mustang boys dont like to play nice with us GM boys. i give out plenty of birds on a daily to balance it all back out. dont worry your avenged haha. are you running an ls7?

  • thanks for doing this man it really helped and dont pay attention to all the other jealous immature people talkin crap on your video

  • Sinister! did you find those comp gray rims you wanted? nice tutorial!

  • no not yet i am still looking tho

  • Great ! That's cool, let me try this night and I tell you tomorrow LOL !!

  • The only thing i can do is sit here and drool man, i wish i had your car. Ahh, some day ;)

    Nice video man

  • nice

  • Dont listen to that dueshbag caution29. Great tutorial man. I'd love to see more with different cars and techniques:)

  • for what? posting a tutorial for people who dont understand how to launch a higher powered car? for getting good times? for driving this car like it was meant to be driven? or for making a good video... sorry but your insult failed

  • where are you at now tough guy?

  • hes just acting tough cause he has a computer in front of him. He probably owns a freaking cavalier
