Great Song, however they actually SUCK . They completely lost the groove. It was a nice attempt but it's like "spastic." Kool Aid no substance. THEY SUCK!!!
Any half ass musician can sound like them, after the first week of playing. They are a marketing ploy that people bought. Spastic Soul? Ok, but THEY SUCK!!!
i gotta buy that woodstock cd collection i had a while back it had creedence rockin on this song about a thousand time better than this version and this version kicks ass so thats sayin somethin
@jgrose9 Haha, Tom Fogerty (left) looks like Trampas (The Virginian)(Doug McClure); and 3rd from left ALWAYS reminded me of Groucho Marx. I had the album Cosmo's Factory from the moment it came out and only discovered he wasn't J.F., today!. And the voice goes with (Groucho's) image!. And I always thought he was Bald. Methinks I was doing too much Thinking. They must have put Soooo much work in, to be such a tight together band, and never made a bad record. Got most Singles, too, in UK.
I met Stu Cook when I lived in Berkeley and worked in Emeryville in 1978. TRhe bad feeling were strong and I did'nt get much from him...but the breackup of CCR, and the R&R Hall of Fame fiasco is well documented. Fogerty's recent statements leave little to the imagination when discerning his politics either.
John Fogerty was the driving force and soul of Credence, thats true, but he was a control freak that drove Tom Fogerty from the band and eventually lead to Stu and Doug to split too. And the shit that came down with John banning the rest of the band from the stage at the Rock Hall of Fame only is explained that he was a screaming Lefty/Lib hater.
I absolutely loved this song. I haven't heard that song in about 42 years. But it was in my head all this time. Thank you for posting this song. They were a great band. Will be forever missed.
0:12-1:50 are you fucking kidding me?? dude... what a VOICE!! one of the strongest vocal performances without a doubt probably... without a seconds thought I would destroy every song made from 1990-2010 If they made me choose between this song existing or that!
@TheHippieDude i wouldnt say every song but the music thats been coming out lately is crap. we need more heartfelt music. not the structured garbage thats been coming out lately
I thought Wilson Pickett's original was a pinnacle of how good Soul music could be. Wonder if he heard CCR's cover and if he did what he thought of it. I think they took it into a whole other dimension, and it's on the same plateau as Wilson's,,,why compare two forms of greatness when they're on equal footing?
Love this song and CCR! But in all honesty Wilson Pickett just nails the groove with more punch and swing. Fogerty's guitar work at the end starting around 2:15 is cool!
CCR had a tendency to play blues, Rock, soul and that special thing they threw in of their own. Dear God, I miss them! They were a class of their own! They have no song, i didn't appreciate. You should check out Tombstone Shadow, if you haven't. There were no remarks, and I'm surprised, because it's awesome. I remembered the name but not the tune. Damn! Go hear it!
Seen a lot of good CCR here, but haven't seen Porterville. think it's the only one i've missed, Aside from John's Blue Ridge Ranger's and some of his solo stuff, like off his album "The Wall".
nope. wilson's is the best. each has its own, but wilson pickett's has more soul. depending on my mood - i choose the version accordingly. this version rocks.
Yeah, Great version of this song by CCR!! - Awesome sound, John's amazing voice, and guitar!!- check out Wilson Pickett's vrsn. of this song - really cool too!
I love this song which takes me to strange musical heights, hearing the `rock hard' pronounciation, a CCR unique singing style...!!Thanks for uploading the same...
i dont know if uve ever heard the version of this song by the redskins, but i think this version is much better......john fogherty has one of the most awesome unique voices
one of the best rock bands in history- and this song is way,way underrated. John and the boys used to practice down the street from us in North Berkeley, 1967, when they were the Golliwogs. Then, Susie Q, and the rest is history. Amazing.
Great tune. I actually prefer the live version they did at Woodstock. It's a bit faster, and has a bit more OOMPH to it.

@ahmosis123, everything I have ever heard about John Fogerty was that he was a decent
moderate in politics and very bitter about his dealings with the music industry.
Of course you might be the same way if you got butt fucked out of your publishing rights and had your
ex-boss sue you for the right to make a living .... but then you have met John Fogerty, haven't you??
