Like any kind of musical instrument it takes a certain amount of talent....some have it and some don't and some just don't work hard enough at it. This guy has probably been playing a long time. You don't just get there overnight.
@TheNitz333 it's a play along, you can download a version of the song without drums so that you can play what you feel. I've been drumming for a year and i've become more capable of listening to a song and trying it on the kit until i make something accurate, or i write down what i think the pattern is, then i revise it as i'm playing. Overall, i think the lesson is to be able to listen to a song and interpret the drumming by ear/write your own music! then bring it to the kit, have fun!
@ruukugirl the job comment/save money comments are true lol, but if need be a lot of cities, and big towns even, have 'Music Lending Libraries' (it could be named differently in your area). Where they lend for FREE all types of instruments, the one closest to where i live, lends out drum kits for 3 months at a time. They charge a fee for using them too long if you forget to bring back on time, but it's inexpensive ($1/day late). Look/ask around to see if you have something in your area
Everybody is always saying: i play like*blabla* years, so i'm good... And that's bullshit, 'cause, I know lots of guys who play like 8 years and cannot even hold rythm..
@UnFriendlyDeath666 : So true... But that's because the first thing you're asked when you tell people that you play an instrument is how long you've been playing. Actually apart from hearing you, its the only way to know how skilled you might be.
But I've often seen guys who have been playing the guitar for over 5 years, more than 700$ worth of gear+a guitar teacher... and yet they can barely play a solo without major flaws.
@busawez Are you kidding me?! He just has a lotta symbols and double foot pedals to play on! This could be learned in about 3-4 hours of straight listening and playing. I just dont have the stuff like him cuz im broke...
I'm not sure of the claim of this being #1 selling drum instruction. How was this statistic calculated? Were sales of all previous instruction DVDs really calculated, or was that just a blind assumption (or stretch) to make it sound more marketable? Also, the person playing is not the best. He would not come close to making it in the DrumOff competition, so it's probably premature to be releasing instruction DVDs. Just an honest assessment from drummer of 30 yrs exp.
@mgzza I don't see were it says that it's the #1 selling drum instructions, however their claim of EXACTLY 3,598 people using their lessons is kinda sketchy.
@Zolofgonnakillallya It's actually much more then 3598...that's just a number that we chose. The Drumming System has actually been sold to well over 4,500 people now but we don't update the website everytime someone orders :)
@Zolofgonnakillallya We're just letting people know that a lot of people are using the lessons successfully...It may seem weird but wouldn't you rather use lessons that other people are using, rather then use some lessons that no one is using? I would choose the lessons everyone is using :)
hey people i have just started learning the drums, when i try do a diffrent beat with my leg on the bass drum to my right hand on the high hat i automaticly do the same beat with my right hand as my foot on the drum bass, (if that makes sence) is this normal for a bigginer? will i be able to overcome it cause its really annoying!!!
@1schroeder1 Ok, thanks. Great playing in all of these play along vids by the way! You're gifted [not saying that your talent isn't your own, but I'd say you get my drift].
Great playing! Great drum sound! But there's only one thing that I don't like... ... it's the sound of the ride cymbal... Too much sustain in it... But for the rest: Excellent!
Yeah, all the gear was supplied for the shoot. We didn't have much time between each drummer playing to have our own. The ride sounds really cool, but not for the applications I was using it for.
I would say this guys got 5 years + I have only been playing for 2 years though and I can play everything he can cand more so I think it just all depends on how easy u pick it up. and practice :)
I've actually been playing for 15 years. But kudos for picking it up so fast. But one thing you should keep in mind is that drumming isn't about how much you play. It's about loving the space between your strokes more than your strokes.
