Thanks a lot.

Agree, maybe it will survive, I am hoping that Cloghran Historical Society take it on and try to save it. Sad to report that Nipper died a few years ago. His memories about working in Cloghran Stud survive on a local history 3 CD set called "Voices of Santry". I interviewed him in 2004. The Cd is Available in most libraries and to buy in Old Santry Post Office price 15 euors. There are a few other Cloghran people included, like Johnny Joyce and Christy Fitzsimons. regards Gerry
I'm sorry to learn of Nipper's passing. He was with me the first time I experienced a foaling when I was 17. I am in the USA now. Sad to see his little cottage in the main yard derelict. Such a tragic end for a great stud farm. Brings back many memories of wonderful days spent there. Thanks again, Gerry. Great work.
His wife is still alive living in the small house next door to the farm. This is where ginger byrne lived before him. I am wondering have you seen the other you tube extract entitled Cloghran Sud farm 2001. The 2009 is 8 years later and shows how quickly the place is being reclaimed by nature.

Thanks, you must be a local, spelling CloUghran, with the U. More on the way, featuring Bridie Byrne, John Foy, and Jimmy Dean who all worked and grew up around the Stud. I also have some footage of Corballis House, before, during and after demolition in 2007 which is another great example of D.A.A. local heritage preservation at work. regards gerry
ps have you seen the Cloghran Studfarm 2001 extract.
Hi Gerry, Know the area backwards ! Lived in Malahide . Saw the other video also. Both very good. Would have gone around all of the North County years ago with my Dad who called to a lot of Farms . Pity that a lot of them are sold & gone . A lot of the people are dead also. Will keep a look out for your next video. Good to see that someone is keeping "an eye "on whats happening in the area.
Gerry. Many thanks for this. It's devastating to see what was a very special, magical place in such a state. It brings back memories of all the horses that came into the world and spent their lives there. I worked for Mrs. Sameulson briefly in the late 70s and I have fond memories of all the wonderful people there, particularly Nipper McGuirk. My relatives the Keenans and Foys worked for her father. Glad to hear that Clare is still in the area and I hope that Nipper is in good health.
Great Video of CLOUGHRAN STUD. It is a pity the place has been let go into such a disrepair . It was a hive of activity in the 60's and 70's . Thanks for posting a GREAT VIDEO
Thank you Castroseiros for your comments, I am writing a local history book, including the Cloghran Area. Both my great grand father, and grand mother worked there also.If you have a photograph of your Grandfather at Cloghran, and you have a year, if you scan and mail it to me I may use it...there will two further You Tube streams posted in relation to Cloghran Stud farm..in the coming months. regards Gerry
Thanks Gerry, if you send me your email i will send you a few photographs. Its very interested your book about Cloghran Area, please send me more information.
my family work in cloghran in the 60´s and first 70´s. My family is from spain, my grandfather worked with the Samuelson family, he was the majordome in the hause. Its very sad see the farm today, i have a lot of fothos in my hause and the farm was very beatiful. my family name is Castroseiros-Alvarez. i remember to stay in Cloghran when i was a child and meet Mrs Eleonor Samuelson and Clare.
Yes her mother Eleanor passed away some years ago. Clair is still around, ironcally I believe she is now involved with the local historical society. I am hoping that Cloghran Historical Society can help save Cloghran Stud farm from destruction. What was your family name and what did they work at when in Cloghran Stud farm?
Not sure of exact circumstances around the sale back around 2000, but basically anything within a half mile radius the DAA will buy it.! Yes members of the Dawson family are involved with Kilronan. Going forward please sign off with your name, thx for you comment gc
Choice of song adds to the athmosphere of this piece of video. It's a gentle reminder that everything comes to pass in the end. Pat Grace's memories of his father in the very milking shed that the interview is carried out in is touching. The Stud farm buildings should really be saved for posterity.

Why and when was it sold in the first place? Does the family now own the Kilronan Equestrian Centre?
