  • Oh does this take me back. Space bar all the way to the ship baby!

  • For its day, this was a good game. Home consoles or computers were pocket calculators compared to what you can buy today.

  • This looks very cool - when I initially clicked on it, I thought it was just an Asteroids clone but it's something else completely.

  • looks fun. I found meteor mission from the Lunar Rescue wiki (played it on taito legends), a game which this is very very similar to.

  • Whoa, amazing sounds for a Model 1!

  • HAHA, I remember this!! I hads a model 1, it ran on cassette tapes! wtf right?

  • Have a look at the website of bigfivesoftware . They have some nice background on the authors!

  • I remember playing this game back in 79, I think. I used to get up in the middle of the night to play it. I enjoyed it so much that I wrote a version of the game for the iPhone and iTouch :) And I just got it approved today from Apple! Look to your right for the video :) Meteor Mission III.

  • I remember this game very well! For the sound my pop had to buy this mini amplifier that connected to the cassette tape mini output. It took like 5 minutes to load from the tape recorder but it was a blast! I also loved the other games from these guys (I believe Big 5 Software).

  • haha, awesome. I remember playing this for hours on an old TRS-80 model III that used to belong to my grandfather. Even wired up my own cassette adapter for that thing so that I could have sound.

  • It's Lunar Rescue ported to Trash 80...I do not remember sound on the Model 1 - you had mad upgrades, yo.

  • You could generate sound with the TRS-80 Model 1. It required an AM radio, but it had sound.

Additionally you could modulate the tape port. I had a fully tricked out Model 1, EI, Disk, Speech Synth and voice recognition. I had also done the lowercase mod on it.

  • Yes, all you needed to do was to connect an amplifier to the cassette OUT port. The game programmers had done the rest!

  • This is actually a clone of the arcade game Lunar Rescue, I think it's called (being too lazy to look it up). I never knew anyone did one!

    Thanks for sharing!
