I only have one more year to play under the lights, and so hard to realize that i can only play 15 more games at the most, I can't imagine what it's going to feel like to not be able to play highschool football anymore
I want you to take a moment and I want you to each other in the eyes, I want you to put each other in your hearts forever, because forevers just about to happen here in a few minutes
I only lost 1 game in 4 years of football at a local powerhouse. 3 time champion, 4 time finalist. I would have given up every win for a coach that cared the way this one does.
I love my soccer team to death. We have been playing together since we were little kids and this year was our last year playing all together. We were the underdogs who went 1-16 every single year. It was our last year and we wanted to make it last, we loved the game and loved eachother. By the end of the season we went to sectionals and beat some of the higher rated teams in the league. We havnt been able to do this in over 30 years.Anything is possible. This goes out to my team. I love you guys
great movie. how bad do you want it? Tebow and Brady are living examples of not letting your team down. they can look their friends/teammate in the eyes and live in the moment with CLEAR eyes. shit, i'll try to do that at work. just kidding. my coworkers are mofo's. LOL
Can someone tell me where I can watch this online...I mean like the full movie it's too old for netflix and I don't need any "move your lazy fatass to the store" cause I just want someone who knows where to find it to tell me

Religion is what you make it you can use the lords prayer and put your gods image in your head while saying it athiest would probably sit out or bow their head and keep their mouth shut also this is texas in the 80s...
This movie is bout the Permian Class of 1989. In the early '80's, I lived a few blocks from Permian high school and would have been class of 1988 if I had stayed there (I went to Ross Elementary in 5th Grade - won the spelling bee there, btw!). I think this movie does a great job of capturing the moment in time - when I saw it in the theaters, it brought back a rush of memories - the oil pumps, the signs on yards, etc. Awesome. (BTW: After leaving, I've never been back to Odessa)
coaches push you for a reason, thats to be a champ, its tough love, being in a high school football team was my goal, but i got caught up with drugs and gangs, well great speech.
I am now 36 years old and from the UK. Between the ages of 14 - 17 I played American Football here in the UK and loved every single moment of it. An absolutely brilliant sport.
This movie gets me so pumped for my senior year when we will win state...lookin at us right now, no one will be able to beat us. If they do, it will feel just like how it felt for Permian although without the underdog heartbreak
If this movie dont tear you up then you dont know what its like to play on friday nights. There is no feeling like it in the world, it's truely the best feeling ever! I miss it every day and this movie kills me. I never cry in movies until this one, I cry like a baby
@ohmyjoshhh i havent got that feeling. well i have for one freshman game at 7. i cant wait until next year and the year after. even tho high school goes by so fast. ill miss it. but i got plenty of time to live those days out there
I want you to take a moment. And I want you to look each other in the eyes. And I want to put each other in your hearts forever. Because forever is about to happen here in just a few minutes.
we lost in the quarterfinals to a heartbreak fumble with 45 seconds left. no script could be written more tragic. the team we shouldve beat plays in the championship on saturday. seeing best friends that became brothers over the last four years, crying thier eyes out, was heart wrenching. our town lives and breathes football. we worked six hard years to get 10 yards away from really accomplishing something this year.
@callofputy that sucks,I'm so sorry,I was a JV callup to the varsity squad 2 years ago when they made the playoffs and after they lost their quarterfinal game,I'll never forget the tears and misery everyone was in knowing they were blown out on their last game.in our current playoff bracket,no team in my school's history has ever made the semis and no team in school history has made it to December,we want to be the first to win the section championship my heart goes out to you guys b/c it can
@Jack72824 Well , if you were with a team that was all Christian and looks to prayer as a source of guidence and a show of brotherhood, there is bound to be a prayer. As a show of respect, my old high school football team, which was almost entirely Cristian, had our coach say to the team if it would be alright for us to pray during half-time. @DictatoroftheCake That is what America is. Reguardless of what beliefs we have, we can still come together and show that human element of brotherhood (universally speaking not sex based). Apologies for the overuse of commas.
@Jack72824 I wasn't refering to what the Founders meant, that I totally agree with you. But what I meant was that it was a sign of respect. Its not imbracing the madness, but rather spending a moment in understanding and also experinceing what someone believes in as a show of "oh, now I see what you feel and I am there to stand by your side". It doesn't mean your losing what your ideals are. Its discovering that perspective to better understand and acknowlege others that don't share your opinon

I'm just finished my Sophomore season undefeated, But for some reason i miss it realizing that i only have two years of football left in my life. I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do without it. I've made so many friends these past two years there like my brothers. Not being under those lights every Friday night kills me. I'm telling you don't take this for granted because it goes by way to quick, and after it's gone you'll then realize how much you miss it.
My playoff game is in 2 hours... if we win we go to championship. Varsity football is what i live for. this video is the first video to make me tear up... this shits real

I must say, however, that I'm pissed off about how they spliced the other team's prayer moment into Permian's prayer moment. This moment in the film should have been ENTIRELY Permian's. They could have at least given Permian the "Amen".
@mwn213 I think they should have showed Permian say Amen. But I disagree, I love when they spliced between the two, because it shows both sides wanting it so bad. I think it was a great moment.
"put each other in your hearts forever...because forever is about to happen..." whenever I hear that -- and I've seen this movie about a dozen times -- I can't help but feel it. That's, in my opinion, the best part of THE most beautiful monologue in the history of American sports cinema. Words can't express how special that line is, and you'd only know how special it is if you were actually a part of a brotherhood, sisterhood, or bond that intensely close.
It's crazy,I'm nearing the end of my football career.I have 2 games promised to me.If I'm lucky,I'll get a couple playoff games. And like Boobie, who'd give anything to be on that field, this is for my brother Johnny #9,we lost Johnny on the last play on a pitch for the year and he's tearing up and this is for him and for every other guy we've lost this season.
@BChoung94 our starting tight end partially tore his acl on play 3 of the first game this season. on game 6 when he was cleared to go back in, he ripped his pinkey into two peices. he played in the quarterfinals with a bulky huge knee brace and a club for an arm. (cast with padding wrapped around it). hes was so depressed this fall, everyone felt so bad :(
@callofputy I can now tell you how painful it is.We just lost in double OT to a team that we should've blown out.we had to make them earn every yard they got but we gave them so much and we blew it,this hurts too bad
after playing for brownwood, i can relate to every single part of this movie. the 110 degree 2 a days, the long hours in the weight room, the pressure, the struggles, the overwhelming sense of pride i get when i tell people that i'm from brownwood, and their eyes get big, and immediately talk about football. it doesn't get any better than texas high school football.
@partyboy694 want to know how we all know u have never been part of a team. Read ur comment.
Those days where some of the best days of my life. Lots of hard work and focus. I will always remember my brothers and when I stepped on the field everything going quiet. Always remember the deep water and drowning the other team every 4th quarter.
Gives me chills everytime i watch this. Friday night was my last high school football game. We won, 24-17, and finished the season 6-4. We didnt make the playoffs, but it was by far the best season of football in my life. I made more then friendships, those guys are my brothers. Love them with everything i have. And when we stepped onto that field, under those bright, friday night lights, everything was perfect. Couldnt have asked for more. Vikings for life!
Today, our best running back on our team (one of the best in NE), broke his ankle tonight playing against the #1 team in the state (we are #2). He is a senior.
This year is for you man, you will always been in our hearts.
I have no clue why in the world anyone would ever dislike this video! (even if you are from carter) it is such a inspirational speech that it gives me chills every time i watch and i have seen it millions of times and it will give me chills every time i watch it in the future

This is what I love about football. Its not just a 11 dumb brutes on each side of the ball trying to kill eachother at least not at the high school level. Its all about the love for the game and the passion you leave on that field. For people who don't like sports I truely feel sorry for you because you will never be able to fully appreciate an amazing speech like this
To be a perfect team you have to learn how to get along and u need to learn how to love the person next to you and trust that they will do their part and that you will do yours on that field and it doesnt matter what the score is it but u need to ask yourself did i be the beat that i could be and did i give everything i possibly could and did i leave my mark....TNT-Takes No Talent to play the game of football and BOE-Balls Out Effort
I may only be a freshman but i do know that football isn't about what you call or what type of offense of defense you run, it's about the person standing next to you and that you have to trust him and believe that he can do his assignment with perfection.
@ Organboi- I played many years of football, HS and college, in Texas, which is where these teams are from. The Lord's Prayer is not about religious persecution, it is a bond. I played with my fellow teammates, my brothers, from many diverse religious backgrounds. Never once was it to slam, or overpower, or force Christianity on anyone. It was a symbol of our devotion to one-another. Not one of my teammates ever took offense to this practice, not one single time. For you to judge this pra
i love this movie, been a while since i watched it, i never cry in movies, i watched shawshank, green mile and loadsa other movies that were supposed to make me cry (my friends told me i would) but i never, but when the guys father gives him the ring even though they lost that breaks me down everytime. he gives him shit throughout the movie saying hes no good, but he knew his son tried his best and did his all and so was a winner (even though they lost), he sacrificed his ring medal, amazing
@dirtydan98 those 6 words never hit me so hard my senior night. those 6 words pushed me to give everything i had and more.. . those 7 other seniors that graduated with have always been in my heart i love those boys more than i love my girlfriend.
@markf12121 He was a great college prospect, but his injury combined with unrealistically high expectations relegated him to flunking out of college and playing every now and then in the semi-pros, while also barely being able to hold a job. He wasn't really a legend.
@organboi it's sad that I can tell from that one comment that you're one of the biggest douches around. I hope for your sake and your future that you change and get a better attitude before it all fires back at you.
Is this a Catholic school? I guess there are no Jews on this team. That last prayer just killed any semblance of dignified and respectful writing. "Blind eyes. Bigoted heart. Can't win." Can't stand this kind of narrow-minded crap in films and TV. And these coaches are always depicted as the same- Total clichés.
@organboi are u jewish? I am a jew and have no issues with them using the Lord's prayer at the end of the speech. The only thing that surpasses the hatred that many people have for jews is the hatred and fear jews and secularists have towards Catholics and Christians. Nice job setting us back 400 years.
@organboi its an extremely common football thing, many teams, including mine which also has jews and muslims do it, i dont think its meant to be bigoted against other religions, but simply showing a common football ritual
The movie wouldve been perfect if they wouldve won "/ ....still a classic. Football baby! Its time!!! From pee wee to the pros! Go Little Chargers! Go Dumas Demons! Hook em Horns! Go Cowboys!
@FromEvaN "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day. Our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen."

For you to judge this pra

i love this movie, been a while since i watched it, i never cry in movies, i watched shawshank, green mile and loadsa other movies that were supposed to make me cry (my friends told me i would) but i never, but when the guys father gives him the ring even though they lost that breaks me down everytime. he gives him shit throughout the movie saying hes no good, but he knew his son tried his best and did his all and so was a winner (even though they lost), he sacrificed his ring medal, amazing

markf12121 2 months ago
@markf12121 He was a great college prospect, but his injury combined with unrealistically high expectations relegated him to flunking out of college and playing every now and then in the semi-pros, while also barely being able to hold a job. He wasn't really a legend.

Is this a Catholic school? I guess there are no Jews on this team. That last prayer just killed any semblance of dignified and respectful writing. "Blind eyes. Bigoted heart. Can't win." Can't stand this kind of narrow-minded crap in films and TV. And these coaches are always depicted as the same- Total clichés.
organboi 4 months ago
@organboi are u jewish? I am a jew and have no issues with them using the Lord's prayer at the end of the speech. The only thing that surpasses the hatred that many people have for jews is the hatred and fear jews and secularists have towards Catholics and Christians. Nice job setting us back 400 years.
knights821 4 months ago
@organboi its an extremely common football thing, many teams, including mine which also has jews and muslims do it, i dont think its meant to be bigoted against other religions, but simply showing a common football ritual
