Wesker deserved a better showing like in the PS2 version. They obviously had bigger plans for him so why have him completely humiliated by a throw away boss?
Dreamcast: The T-Veronica virus is almighty and 'unstoppable'. Even the superhuman Wesker is not a match for its power. The Dreamcast version did a good job in expressing that. But they made Wesker look a bit too weak for my taste.
PS2: Wesker is not as weak as he is in the Dreamcast version, thus providing an answer as to how he became so powerful in Resident Evil 5. However it does not carry the same feeling of awe that the Dreamcast version gave me.

I like both cutscenes. Each have a way to enhance the story. Maybe with the Gamecube release, they should have made them optional according to what actions the player took in the game somehow. The Dreamcast showcased the true potential of the T-Veronica virus, making it quite obvious to see why Wesker would value it so highly. The PS2 version enhanced Wesker's inhuman nature and made it possible to develop his character in that direction in future games.
@NANYUKI no not at all the PS2 version makes more sense hence why capcom made code veronica x cuz the original code veronica sucked! and if wesker count avoid a bitch slap like in the DC version then he truely is still human not a super human just cuz shes the big boss of this game dont make her THE boss of all the res games i mean the nemesis was alot tougher challenge to beat than alexia plus wesker made that bitch stumble!
wesker looks terrible in 5 I understand thats it's years later but with every game wesker is in besides 5 they have kept his look the same black clothes, youthful appearence, chilling voice,and his trademark glasses but in 5 they made him look like a old coon with a terrible black costume. Plus idf you play umbrella chronicals at the end you see him setting up umbrella but he didn't want to take over the world. Opinons are welcome

Plus the ps2 can't do HD like the Dreamcast and it's textured looked well smudged in comparison to the Dreamcast original thanks to the ps2 only having half the texture and video ram that the Dreamcast had.

what they should of done is add both of them together start with the dreamcast 1 with wesker getting hit sends him flying, he hits off the door and lands of the floor and have her jump at him he rolls over and then the rest ps2 version.

Dreamcast makes more sense, since Alexia fully mutated while Wesker keeps his guise. And the fact she could do that at will. And plus in the game you defeat him with PIPES. :I
But Chris not kill the Alexia that time, just knock off. So since Wesker has different power than Alexia - easy way to look on rock-paper-scissors between Wesker, Chris and Alexia.
The DC version is better, it doesn't shows a weak wesker, it only shows the wesker "in progress" , I played CV when it just came out and in the moment when I saw this scene I knew that wesker was gonna be the badass of the entire game series, but not in that moment, not against alexia, who takes so many years to become one with the t-veronica virus.
ps2 makes way more sense than the dreamcast cutscene. think about it, in the dreamcast version chris beats alexia but wesker cant even touch her? but at the end of the game chris cant even touch wesker.
I see alot of comments have been about how Wesker could've beaten Alexia in some way or another, but all of the comments come from having post knowledge of Wesker. Wesker got his ass kicked in the dreamcast version because her virus was superior and she was in total control of her virus. It made sense that Wesker would get whooped. All the matrix stuff and Wesker vs Chris, was added because Wesker himself sucked initially, just like Chris, who had a complete change in persona in CV.

But the reason they did that was to show how powerful she was, I like the PS2 version better and all, but you have to see the story aspect of it, not "Oh noes, wesker is not 100% badass in this cutscene"
It sucks that wesker died in 5 I always wanted to see some kind of showdown between him and ADA Wong. Since she double crossed him at the end of RE4.. She was the only one to to out smart him.

@Calengela Calm down, We all know the Code Veronica X version of the Dreamcast is better than the PS2 version, but we know too that the GameCube version released in 2003 is even better, you can buy it from ebay for $120 I think, it is expensive because it was confirmed as the 3rd rarest game of the GameCube, also now the HD version for the Xbox 360/PS3 is maybe better than the GameCube, I don't know because I heard it is blurry since it's upscaled to 720p.
I prefer the Dreamcast version. Alexia makes Wesker her bitch. Emphasizing how freakin' scary and powerful the T-Veronica virus is supposed to be. Building tension for Chris's fight with Alexia.
i think when it came to ps2, they decided that wesker was going to be the main villan of resident evil, so didnt exactly want to underpower him to code veronica x
@MajBlood Sega? Sega doesnt have to do anything with the game... this is a Capcom treasure. Also is possible to look the PS2 sequence at dreamcast, is just that the complete version of the game never arrived at USA. Capcom changed this sequence since it makes the Wesker character looked like a wimp coward. BTW i love dreamcast! is my favorite console thats why i bought the BCV complete version.

How can anyone like the dreamcast version better? It makes Wesker look weaker than Chris, considering Chris takes down Alexia in less than a minute. The PS2 version is perfect. It shows the strength of both Alexia and Wesker. It also shows that Alexia can fend off the best villian in the game, which gives the impression she is going to be hard to beat.

Anyway, Wesker obviously doesn't die. He just vanishes after this scene in the Dreamcast version. He doesn't show up in the end. The PS2 version is obviously the canon version. There's just no way a woman would kick Wesker's ass with two slaps.
When RE5 came out I was wondering how Wesker was going to be able to be defeated, he seemed invincible. I guess they figured enough was enough for Wesker. One of the very best video game villians period. I agree that Wesker's "weakness" in RE5 was a let down. They've could've been more creative than that. It made sense to me but it was lame. It made Wesker appear very weak and dependant on some f'ing shots (like a dope fiend), that sucks damnit. Alexia was a real pain but Wesker is King.

I have played through both versions of the game and there pretty much the same except some movie sequences are different, but i like the Dreamcast version better for the controller and the fact that wesker can be slapped around too and he has some what vulnerable moments as well.
the overall game is the same but they just jazz up some parts in the ps2 version, think of it as an RE directors cut, but no wesker doesn't die he escapes.
Sorry the ps2 isn't all that great, the dreamcast would have surpassed it if it wasn't discontinued. plus the load times on the ps2 SUCK big time compared to the Dreamcast.
lol the Dreamcast is awesome! and all of the games that came out on both the ps2 and Dreamcast, they were pretty much always better to play on the Dreamcast, so i would say it means the programmers had a hell of a time porting the games from the dreamcast to the ps2 because the ps2 is CRAP! to program for and the results are a low res and textures as well as lighting as you can see in the video for the ps2 how the colors looked really bright and out of place compared to smooth color on the DC.
I actually prefer the DC's interpretation. It shows that Wesker is strong, but not invincible. It also works well in creating tension... Wesker is initially shown to be quite powerful, but then you get stuck having to fight something that just totally owned him.
Is it me or the Dream cast had better graphics on this game then on Playstation 2. Dont get me wrong. Dreamcast is one of the worst systems ever. I own like two playstation 2's. And no Dreamcast. But just look at the difference at both of them. Wesker looks more sharper and the eyes look more focus then on playstation 2 version.
I actually like the Dreamcast version more. Other than the cheesy "Whoa, what power!" line, I like how it sows a clear difference in terms of strength between Wesker and Alexia. Plus, watching Wesker get bitch slapped into submission was kinda funny.XD

I still have my Dreamcast - I've played both versions, and was so mad when I discovered the PS2 version of this game was coming out because there were 10 extra minutes of footage missing with Wesker in them. But in the Dreamcast version, he runs out the door and doesn't close with a witty remark. The PS2 version of this scene is so much better!
actually there are 2 versions of the Dreamcast version, one which we never got. the uncut one was Sega DC/Japan and ps2 only.
But in terms of which is better, this game was created on NAOMI hardware, which is Sega hardware, which by fact runs best on a Dreamcast. Even then ps2 can push more polys but not look as clean due to jaggies.
There is a great mistake there is no difference Between Code Veronica PS2 and Japanese edition of Code Veronica X for Dreamcast. The Jap edition came out before the ps2 edition that is just a transposition from Dreamcast to PS2, and I have to say that Dreamcast is most cool (a ps2 won't never been as a dreamcast)... if you search on youtube you'll find a commercial of dreamcast japanese edition with part of that scene that you believe created for ps2...

IMO, either way, at this point in time, Alexia was stronger. Even in the PS2 version, she basically slaps him and he flies, exhibiting her strength. And he punches her and she just stumbles a little bit, so I'd say she was stronger. But now, especially with the new RE5 vids, he is very fast and much stronger, so I think he'd win now. And his virus has been in him as long as Alexia's was at this point. She had it maturing in her for about 15 years or something along those lines?
The original dreamcast version of the alexia and wesker fight is far superior. Wesker beats up chris with ease then comes across Alexia and gets his butt kicked. Thus showing the real power of the T-veronica virus (hence chris now craps himself cause he sees wesker get beat up!) On CVX on the PS2 and gamecube its GAY. It makes a mockery of the T-veronica virus, if its that weak and he can beat Alexia up then why would he want it??? its just a case of having a good story and ruining it.
Well lets not forget how easily Chris killed her. I think the PS2 version makes more sense. It's also a possiblity that Wesker still hadn't unlocked the full potential of his own power.

i prefer to see Wesker bitch slapped actually in the PS2/Gamecube version we are treated to the Matrix style fight scene which i didnt think was as in keeping with the characters, theyre trying to make Alexia scary dont forget because she is the boss of this game so to show us Weskers super powers earlier and then show how easily she can whoop him that was their way of showing just how powerfull she is and made you more frightened of having to fight her.

I heard the DC:CV Wesker gets pasted, I only have the PS2:CVX which has more qulity picture and 9 mins of extra cut scenes. I think the PS2 Wesker vs Alexia is more realistic. Even though Alexia is more powerful, Wesker would not be beaten so easily.

When everybody's right, they are. It is edited for the ps2 version. The first version was for Dreamcast. Then it was ported (With Slightly better graphics) and capcom decided to edit it. Its also cuz of the reasons stated below... lol.

That's not the real cause of the scene re-edit. Here's the reason:
Before Code Veronica came out, pretty much everybody considered Wesker a lame villain.
However once Code Veronica hit peoples homes, that's when the fanbase saw Wesker in a new light.
Knowing that and realizing post-production of Code Veronica, Capcom believed that having a dominant Wesker against Alexia would stimulate an even stronger charisma for Albert Wesker.
And that's why Capcom made re-edited Code Veronica.

Wesker is no longer a human in CV, so PS2 version makes sense.
Also, Chris kills Alexia on the first fight but since T has recovery effect, Alexia revives.

@lifelegend The Dreamcast had this scene too, the Dreamcast had two different Resident Evil Code: Veronica's.
The Dreamcast had the very first original and it had a remake that was the best version out of all of them, even the recent Xbla port.
It was called 'Resident Evil Code: Veronica Complete' (Biohazard Code: Veronica in Japan).

@Calengela Calm down, We all know the Code Veronica X version of the Dreamcast is better than the PS2 version, but we know too that the GameCube version released in 2003 is even better, you can buy it from ebay for $120 I think, it is expensive because it was confirmed as the 3rd rarest game of the GameCube, also now the HD version for the Xbox 360/PS3 is maybe better than the GameCube, I don't know because I heard it is blurry since it's upscaled to 720p.

I prefer the Dreamcast version. Alexia makes Wesker her bitch. Emphasizing how freakin' scary and powerful the T-Veronica virus is supposed to be. Building tension for Chris's fight with Alexia.

@MajBlood Sega? Sega doesnt have to do anything with the game... this is a Capcom treasure. Also is possible to look the PS2 sequence at dreamcast, is just that the complete version of the game never arrived at USA. Capcom changed this sequence since it makes the Wesker character looked like a wimp coward. BTW i love dreamcast! is my favorite console thats why i bought the BCV complete version.

I personally like the Ps2 version more, it shows more drastic effects of the virus. It also shows Wesker being more of a badass.
The Dreamcast version however, makes you think that Wesker is weak, but you later find that he had those powers.
Honestly they are both good, I just prefer the action the Ps2 version had to offer.

How can anyone like the dreamcast version better? It makes Wesker look weaker than Chris, considering Chris takes down Alexia in less than a minute. The PS2 version is perfect. It shows the strength of both Alexia and Wesker. It also shows that Alexia can fend off the best villian in the game, which gives the impression she is going to be hard to beat.

Anyway, Wesker obviously doesn't die. He just vanishes after this scene in the Dreamcast version. He doesn't show up in the end. The PS2 version is obviously the canon version. There's just no way a woman would kick Wesker's ass with two slaps.

When RE5 came out I was wondering how Wesker was going to be able to be defeated, he seemed invincible. I guess they figured enough was enough for Wesker. One of the very best video game villians period. I agree that Wesker's "weakness" in RE5 was a let down. They've could've been more creative than that. It made sense to me but it was lame. It made Wesker appear very weak and dependant on some f'ing shots (like a dope fiend), that sucks damnit. Alexia was a real pain but Wesker is King.

I have played through both versions of the game and there pretty much the same except some movie sequences are different, but i like the Dreamcast version better for the controller and the fact that wesker can be slapped around too and he has some what vulnerable moments as well.

lol the Dreamcast is awesome! and all of the games that came out on both the ps2 and Dreamcast, they were pretty much always better to play on the Dreamcast, so i would say it means the programmers had a hell of a time porting the games from the dreamcast to the ps2 because the ps2 is CRAP! to program for and the results are a low res and textures as well as lighting as you can see in the video for the ps2 how the colors looked really bright and out of place compared to smooth color on the DC.

I actually prefer the DC's interpretation. It shows that Wesker is strong, but not invincible. It also works well in creating tension... Wesker is initially shown to be quite powerful, but then you get stuck having to fight something that just totally owned him.

Is it me or the Dream cast had better graphics on this game then on Playstation 2. Dont get me wrong. Dreamcast is one of the worst systems ever. I own like two playstation 2's. And no Dreamcast. But just look at the difference at both of them. Wesker looks more sharper and the eyes look more focus then on playstation 2 version.

I still have my Dreamcast - I've played both versions, and was so mad when I discovered the PS2 version of this game was coming out because there were 10 extra minutes of footage missing with Wesker in them. But in the Dreamcast version, he runs out the door and doesn't close with a witty remark. The PS2 version of this scene is so much better!

actually there are 2 versions of the Dreamcast version, one which we never got. the uncut one was Sega DC/Japan and ps2 only.
But in terms of which is better, this game was created on NAOMI hardware, which is Sega hardware, which by fact runs best on a Dreamcast. Even then ps2 can push more polys but not look as clean due to jaggies.

There is a great mistake there is no difference Between Code Veronica PS2 and Japanese edition of Code Veronica X for Dreamcast. The Jap edition came out before the ps2 edition that is just a transposition from Dreamcast to PS2, and I have to say that Dreamcast is most cool (a ps2 won't never been as a dreamcast)... if you search on youtube you'll find a commercial of dreamcast japanese edition with part of that scene that you believe created for ps2...

IMO, either way, at this point in time, Alexia was stronger. Even in the PS2 version, she basically slaps him and he flies, exhibiting her strength. And he punches her and she just stumbles a little bit, so I'd say she was stronger. But now, especially with the new RE5 vids, he is very fast and much stronger, so I think he'd win now. And his virus has been in him as long as Alexia's was at this point. She had it maturing in her for about 15 years or something along those lines?

The original dreamcast version of the alexia and wesker fight is far superior. Wesker beats up chris with ease then comes across Alexia and gets his butt kicked. Thus showing the real power of the T-veronica virus (hence chris now craps himself cause he sees wesker get beat up!) On CVX on the PS2 and gamecube its GAY. It makes a mockery of the T-veronica virus, if its that weak and he can beat Alexia up then why would he want it??? its just a case of having a good story and ruining it.

i prefer to see Wesker bitch slapped actually in the PS2/Gamecube version we are treated to the Matrix style fight scene which i didnt think was as in keeping with the characters, theyre trying to make Alexia scary dont forget because she is the boss of this game so to show us Weskers super powers earlier and then show how easily she can whoop him that was their way of showing just how powerfull she is and made you more frightened of having to fight her.

I'm just glad that the extended (and officially canon) version on the PS2 at least showed that Wesker could've beaten her. I heard the DC:CV Wesker gets pasted, I only have the PS2:CVX which has more qulity picture and 9 mins of extra cut scenes. I think the PS2 Wesker vs Alexia is more realistic. Even though Alexia is more powerful, Wesker would not be beaten so easily.

When everybody's right, they are. It is edited for the ps2 version. The first version was for Dreamcast. Then it was ported (With Slightly better graphics) and capcom decided to edit it. Its also cuz of the reasons stated below... lol.

That's not the real cause of the scene re-edit. Here's the reason:
Before Code Veronica came out, pretty much everybody considered Wesker a lame villain.
However once Code Veronica hit peoples homes, that's when the fanbase saw Wesker in a new light.
Knowing that and realizing post-production of Code Veronica, Capcom believed that having a dominant Wesker against Alexia would stimulate an even stronger charisma for Albert Wesker.
And that's why Capcom made re-edited Code Veronica.
