  • Sweet action, Josh! Looks cold tho.

  • How come the M7's are never on the New Haven Line?

  • @Kote12TK

    Kid - are you serious??????????

Have you even noticed that the New Haven Line is powered by overhead catenary wires??

The M-7As don't have pantographs - the metal arms on the tops of the cars allowing the cars to collect power from the overhead catenary wires. The M7As only run on 3rd rail.

    Seriously......

  • Then how come the New Haven trains ARE ABLE TO share the same tracks with the M7's?

  • the same way CSX or D&H or Amtrak or A Metro North Genesis are able to share tracks with the M-7As - by the dispatcher running them on the same track.

All of Metro North's MU cars (as well as their P32ACDMs) all can run on 3rd rail. Its that electric rail next to the two running rails that gives the train its power....

  • nice!
