You need to get your cat comfortable with the harness and being outside first. Calmly put the harness and leash on your cat then pet it and give it treats. Do this once or twice every day before taking your cat outside. Once ur cat is comfortable enough to walk around on a leash indoors carry it outside, never pull or drag or youll mess the whole thing up. If your cat is uncomfortable outside do the same thing, pet it give it treats once or twice every day. Please do some resarch on cats.

Most people get pets because it's conducive to their lifestyle. That's why you see so many dogs and cats in animal shelters waiting to be killed off because it didn't fit into the owner's lifestyle.
Too many times humans think of pets as toys and possessions. If I had to choose between a cat being killed off or the worse thing an owner did was this, then I would prefer the owner keep the cat. Too many times advices like "maybe this isn't for you" is commonplace and the animals are just cast aside.

Cat and dog populations are out of control. I doubt a law would ever be passed placing restrictions on pet ownership. It's hard enough as it is finding homes for millions of these cats and dogs that are in shelters. Advocating neutering or spaying your cat or dog is the best option. The only problem is, a large part of our nation is either too ignorant or inept to do so.
The cat is embarrassed and is hoping he doesn't run into anyone he knows.

You need to get your cat comfortable with the harness and being outside first. Calmly put the harness and leash on your cat then pet it and give it treats. Do this once or twice every day before taking your cat outside. Once ur cat is comfortable enough to walk around on a leash indoors carry it outside, never pull or drag or youll mess the whole thing up. If your cat is uncomfortable outside do the same thing, pet it give it treats once or twice every day. Please do some resarch on cats.

cats have a way stronger personality than dogs do. they don't settle for anything that's not what they wan't to do. I know it sucks, but the only application for a leash on a cat is avoiding that it runs away, not steering it.

Cats need to be trained to use a harness. First getting used to the harness. Then walking very short distances, like inches. Even though you clearly didn't hurt the cat, I didn't like it. Would you like to be dragged on bricks? Animals are lives which should be treated with respect. Get a book about cats and training. Be a really responsible owner.

Cats can be trained, but only to a certain extent. And yes, a cat CAN be trained to go for a walk. It's just more difficult and time consuming compared to a dog. Most people get pets because it's conducive to their lifestyle. That's why you see so many dogs and cats in animal shelters waiting to be killed off because it didn't fit into the owner's lifestyle.

Too many times humans think of pets as toys and possessions. If I had to choose between a cat being killed off or the worse thing an owner did was this, then I would prefer the owner keep the cat. Too many times advices like "maybe this isn't for you" is commonplace and the animals are just cast aside.

But the point is that people should realise that this isn't for them BEFORE they get the pet. Of course people are going to get rid of a cat if they don't want it. You can't ask them to keep it. But it's disgraceful that they didn't consider this before actually getting a cat. The way to stop this abandonment of cats is to create strickter standards for anyone who wants to buy a cat. It shouldn't be something anyone can do. Perhaps people can get a license...

Cat and dog populations are out of control. I doubt a law would ever be passed placing restrictions on pet ownership. It's hard enough as it is finding homes for millions of these cats and dogs that are in shelters. Advocating neutering or spaying your cat or dog is the best option. The only problem is, a large part of our nation is either too ignorant or inept to do so.
